Amir Khan feels "disrespected"

Khan did not sell out Sheffield v Diaz, but when Brook fought there last week, one end of the arena was curtained off.

There was 10,000 for the Brook fight. For the Khan-Diaz fight tickets were being given away and there was still a poor crowd after Khan alienated the locals by slagging off Brook and then, bizarrely boasting of how he had outsold Brook in his hometown.

There were not 10,000 there for Brook-Dan. I think Hearn said it was set-up for 9,200. There were plenty of tickets for sale at the box office fight week and that is before fighters give their tickets back. It was a good crowd and more than Khan-Diaz but it wasn't anything like when Hatton boxed there.
Etches probably sold more than 2,000 also.
Saying he outsold Brook in his hometown was not completely wrong, as when Brook fought Saldivia, it must have been about 3,000 tickets sold
And as much as Brook says he will fight anyone, who has fought the better opponents? Interesting that Rios was slagging off Brook/Hearn on Twitter for using his name without backing it up with an offer,

Whilst a lot of this is simply Amir being Amir, I do think the Brook Love is getting slightly out of hand on here. Regardless of titles, if they ever fight Khan is by far the bigger star & clearly wants to be treated as such. Hearn's normal tactics aren't going to work here.

Khan doesn't seem bothered about putting on the big fights, he's just treating boxing as a business & looking for the best deal for himself. He'll position himself with a low risk win to be in for a shot against the winner of Mayweather/ Pac, if it happens great, if not he'll still have the Brook fight as a fall-back. He doesn't need it right now.

Well the ticket office was selling them on the night and there were gaps. Obviously, you often get gaps when fans of another fighter go home after their fight.
Promoters always talk up the numbers and the press are usually only too pleased to help as it makes the event look bigger

He did, which meant he could call the shots and not have to face a potential banana skin (which would have generated a lot of cash, as the wider public were interested in this fight too).

I don't think Ricky was worried about cash. The PPV against Floyd went through the roof, and Ricky had a big slice of that.

It was far from empty at the Brook fight. Yes, a part curtained off, the rest was packed. And Etches never had anything like the support Brook had.

My point being that Hatton could have had a big money fight with Witter AND a big money fight with Mayweather. He was happy to box stevie smith comign up in weight but not Witter, which would have generated more money.

I don't think Hatton was totally scared, but equally, not totally confident of victory, and I sense the same thing about Khan with Brook.

Sometimes posters on the internet ignore all the press reports, pluck a figure out of the air, and more than double the figure that an undercard boxer said he sold, to try and prove a point.
