"He deserves hundreds of millions"...yeah....I really can't take that pillock seriously.

I'm not a fan of the way McGuigan does things but at least he doesn't come across as an ass clown every time he talks.

This fight is never going to happen now, Eddie has pushed them away so much that pride will get in the way now.
This is what too much power does to a man, hopefully SKY will see sense when the current Matchroom contract runs out.

I can see Barry's point. The Irish would be there in force, guaranteed sell out. A lot of money in this.

This interview is 'outrageous' with some 'obscene' comments.

I'm no fan if Eddie, although I like his old man, but to be fair to him he never said that he said 'hundreds or millions', he basically got stuck and ballsed that little bit of spiel up.

Watched 3 minutes before it went off! In that time he did make some sense, but it's all getting a little tedious now. In 12 months time this fight is undercard for Joshua v Fury. I think it's wise for all parties to stop acting like women and get it on or look elsewhere. Neither are elite fighters and it won't get bigger than it currently is. Get the fvcker on.

It's a shame because I think both Quigg and Frampton want it. Their TWO ( it's not just Eddie here, Barry and his boys are just as bad, Barry is a nice bloke but I think he could well be the biggest ego involved ) promotional outfits need to have a word with themselves.

I do quite like Mcguigan but he's insanely over eager to get himself involved in every way in Framptons fights.

It's good that he's so positive about his man but what's his reasons for seeming like an egomaniac. Is he trying to relive his own career through Frampton? Hoping he'll be bigger than he was.

Hearn is a bit of a tit but I don't mind him as much as some on here. Talking bollux is a prerequisite for being a boxing promoter (although Eddie might talk more than his fair share lol). Was my understanding that Framptons team wanted a co-promotion and Hearn starts posturing offering money and pulling in the opposite direction. Bad move. All he's gonna do is rub folk up the wrong way and create more obstacles. Frampton is the draw here and Hearn should respect that.

The promoters are the biggest problem here.

I can see why quigg doesn't want to travel as he would go to Belfast and have a few hundred fans their.

Fight in Manchester and frampton probaly has the larger share but nowhere near the levels of fans he would have in Belfast.

Here's an idea, why don't they do it in a neutral venue, then the fight won't be in anyone's backyard. May 30th would have been ideal had Scott been fit.

If this fight is as easy as frampton thinks then why not take a 60/40 to the winner? Because he'd get his wedge and beat quigg?

This is why people get frustrated with boxing. Too many outside influences affecting why the best don't fight the best

Cyclone do have the option to make a counter offer for the fight in Belfast or in London. They have said the co promotion thing is the issue but Hearn is saying the 60-40 to the winner co promotion is what was offered privately.

this is what reminds me of what was good about David Haye , he went over to other promoters shows smashed them up ( ENZO MAC) and picked up a big cheque. i dont know the full ins and outs about which promotion could make the Biggest money on this but i see Frampton as the A side in this and hopefully it gets done.

Eddie definitely feeling the pressure as he's not able to deliver either Khan Brook or Frampton Quigg to 'his broadcaster'. Fair play to Frampton and his team for standing their ground. Would like to see if they do come up with a counter offer or not.

Interesting to know what Hearn actually thinks this would do at the box office. The estimated total income from Froch Groves 2 was £22.3m with roughly £15.3m coming from PPV sales (Daily mail figures quoting 900k buys). The overseas TV rights were sold for about £500k and there was sponsorship, tickets sales and Merch that made up the rest. Froch alledgedly walked away with £8m and Groves £2. Sky took £7.5m and Matchrooms costs etc were estimated at £3.8m.

Frampton in his recent press release estimated that his fight with Quigg would generate around £10-£12m so say roughly half of what Froch Groves did. Is it then fair to say that if it does half as well at the box office at 450k buys, that Frampton should really be looking at a £4m purse and Frampton at £1m.

Is this where Framptons side think it doesn't stack up?

edit - was froch v Groves 2 an 80 -20 split? I can't remember. If so that kind of ruins this post.

Barry Hearn came up with the biggest nonsense I have read (factually and hyperbole) in his Sun column.

I'm surprise boxrecers missed it (though perhaps they're too savvy to even read Hearn's column :-))

He was talking about a Khan / Brook fight and put down khan and said something along the lines of 'Amir Khan is not a sky PPV fighter. Kell Brook is. These are the facts'

Um.... To my knowledge brook has never fought PPV at least not as a headliner; where as Khan has done so many times, including sub par opposition.

These are the actual facts Barry.

This really is the key. Without Frampton, Quigg is fighting as either chief support or undercard with hardcore fans watching him or those who are watching the headline fight.

Frampton without Quigg is selling out the Odyssey to about 9k fans fighting A N Other with people tuning into ITV to specifically watch him

I don't know, there's a lot of Irish in the Manchester/Liverpool area along with direct flights from the emerald isle. They'd snap the tickets up in no time

Thing is, Quigg probably makes as much for his fights as Frampton did in his last bout. The money and the power is with sky/Matchroom. It's frustrating.

As I mentioned earlier, they both need to strike whilst the iron is hot. We aren't talking Hatton, Naz, Calzaghe or Lewis quality here. In 12 months, this fight, even if they stay unbeaten, is an undercard fight for Joshua v Fury.

Just get the feeling that both fighters will end up regretting all this posturing from their "owners"

Frampton doesn't earn £4m for any fight ever and Quigg don't even earn half that. I sense realism isn't playing much of a part when they talk about what they are 'worth'

The cruiserweight Haye was a throwback fighter in his approach who was great to follow. He goaded Warren into paying big dough to have him on his show against Enzo then bashed him up. Went to Mormecks backyard and did the same. He was a credit to the sport back then. None of this 'no the fight happens in my backyard, I bring more fans, I'm worth this, that' etc
Even at heavyweight he went into Valuev and Wlads backyards. To be commended even if he was massively disappointing against Wlad.
