I can see why quigg doesn't want to travel as he would go to Belfast and have a few hundred fans their.
Fight in Manchester and frampton probaly has the larger share but nowhere near the levels of fans he would have in Belfast.
Here's an idea, why don't they do it in a neutral venue, then the fight won't be in anyone's backyard. May 30th would have been ideal had Scott been fit.
If this fight is as easy as frampton thinks then why not take a 60/40 to the winner? Because he'd get his wedge and beat quigg?
This is why people get frustrated with boxing. Too many outside influences affecting why the best don't fight the best
That's his thinking

Ha! I hope he invested it wisely, a year on it could be worth £2.20!danamba7 wrote:No wonder George is so bitter about the whole ordeal!dbf wrote:Eddie definitely feeling the pressure as he's not able to deliver either Khan Brook or Frampton Quigg to 'his broadcaster'. Interesting to know what Hearn actually thinks this would do at the box office. The estimated total income from Froch Groves 2 was £22.3m with roughly £15.3m coming from PPV sales (Daily mail figures quoting 900k buys). The overseas TV rights were sold for about £500k and there was sponsorship, tickets sales and Merch that made up the rest. Froch alledgedly walked away with £8m and Groves £2. Sky took £7.5m and Matchrooms costs etc were estimated at £3.8m.
Frampton in his recent press release estimated that his fight with Quigg would generate around £10-£12m so say roughly half of what Froch Groves did. Is it then fair to say that if it does half as well at the box office at 450k buys, that Frampton should really be looking at a £4m purse and Frampton at £1m.
Is this where Framptons side think it doesn't stack up?
edit - was froch v Groves 2 an 80 -20 split? I can't remember. If so that kind of ruins this post.

They seem happy to bat off Sky's proposals, whilst tabling none of their own.Coco wrote:Why doesn't McGuigan put it on himself!
Surely a 'negotiation' involves two parties tabling their ideas to one another - and the one that makes the most finacial sense to all involved is the one that they all go with.
To date, all I've seen is Team Frampton rejected offers tabled by Team Quigg, whilst putting zero of their own out there for discussion.
They've had a flat-out fee of £1.5m put in front of them OR a 60/40 split in their favour - and have turned down both.
Do they really think that being the non-Sky fighter, they will walk away with 70/30 of the monies ? and does anyone blame Quigg/Sky/Matchroom for rejecting that notion?
Seems people are too emotional and not rational.
It's a shallow division, with a guy in Rigo who is light years ahead of everyone else, and then we have LSC whom is happy fighting for Haymon and they don't care for making bouts with anyone else, unless they are promoting it and are in control of the situation.
As a boxing fan who likes Frampton & Quigg, and wants to see this happening - I can't help but feel like Team Frampton are giving reasons why the fight WONT happen, rather than reasons on how it CAN happen.
I'm not suggesting Frampton fears Quigg, but there is definitely an overestimation in the value of this bout by them.
What on earth do they want for this fight ?? it beggars belief really.
It's been fun for a couple of days listening to them all... but it's getting tired fast.

Yes. Quigg sells fornicate all without Frampton, he'll never fill an arena or fight on PPV and he isn't the champion, 70/30 in Frampton's favour is closer to reality than 60/40, but when you consider that Froch-Groves 2 was split 80/20 based on the reported purses, it doesn't look quite as good.G0mez wrote:They seem happy to bat off Sky's proposals, whilst tabling none of their own.Coco wrote:Why doesn't McGuigan put it on himself!

Agree with this, he was no nonsense as a cruiserweight - did it the hard way, and produce some exciting fights, learnt a harsh lesson when he got bashed up by Carl Thompson - and progressed from it.
Big dissaopointment as a heavyweight, but not surprising, he wasn't really a fully blown heavyweight, didn't have the thickset build of a true heavyweight - even with all the added bulk, he was always going to be up against it against the size of modern heavyweights. People forget, he used to make the old 190 lb limit. His big talk and subsequent lack of fire against Wlad turned me and lots of others against him, but let's not forget he was as brave as they come at cruiserweight.
I was at the Mormeck fight, and it was a VERY hostile crowd - however, when he got off the floor to bash Mormeck up, the French crowd - who were largely French Africans from the Ghettos of Paris, actually cheered and clapped him.

If we are being brutally honest, Quigg is a strap holder at best and Frampton is no more than a titlist. Neither are the main man in their division, at best they have a joint claim for being number 2.
Just get it made. Silly demands are preventing it. This fight won't be all that enticing for long, not when we have the likes of Joshua-Fury, Saunders-Lee and the potential Groves-DeGale rematch up for discussion in the nearish future. This one will fade into the background.

It's a shame it isn't going to happen because of the two promoters/managers. Shame because I like to see fighters earn as much as they possibly can. As I keep saying the iron is hot now on this one and it ain't getting any hotter. Bigger and better attractions will soon be in the pipeline.
Re: Hearn talks in depth about last few days of Frampton / Quigg
Frampton will never see this kind of offer again, his alternatives are to either have an equally tough fight against Sany Cruz for 50k or get beat up against Rigo for 75k.
He is getting bad advice off McGuigan because Barry wants retirement money in being cut into the promotion too, when in reality he would only have his name on the poster but wouldn't actually do any of the promotion.
Hearn won't split the money but might shove McGuigan a hefty backhander to allow the fight to go on.
Either way Barry shouldn't mess with his fighters financial future like this.

wasnt there figures regarding the split when the Froch and Groves was going ahead.
85-15 by the laws of the IBF if im not mistaken.
Last time i checked Carl holds the IBF strap, so can some explain to me why he should be bowing to the demands of a rival promoter with a one off payment or the chance of a 60/40 split?

That was different. Quigg holds a version of some made up world title meaning he isn't becoming Framptons mandatory. Also, as I've mentioned more than once, Frampton ain't an international boxing superstarchrisbonnie wrote:wasnt there figures regarding the split when the Froch and Groves was going ahead.

Jokes aside, to earn big, serious money Frampton needs one of two things, a major talent explosion making him truly elite ( Calzaghe ) or to change his nationality ( put it this way, Tony Bellew probably made a great deal more for his fight against Clev than Frampton will against anybody right now...makes you feel sick don't it? Does me! ) Neither are going to happen.
There is a third way. Deal with the devil, get on Sky ppv, smash Quigg, for very good money, off Cyclone with his retirement dough and look forward to a serious payday against an even older Rigo alongside Brook-Khan at Wembley. Why do people care so much about who a fighter is promoted by? All promoters are in it for themselves, why wouldn't they be? All I give a toss about is the fighter. I sometimes think people see it like football, 'who do you support? I'm team Matchroom, can't stand team Warren' etc etc

It still makes a lot more than the £50/75k mentioned above.
I agree that in any fight this year he struggles to make over £1m but he has the potential to do this over the next few years when he goes to America. They will love his story.

He flew to USA to lobby the IBF to mandate him as Froch's next fight. They relented and GG celebrated.
But let's just say someone spotted that because his ranking had slipped, the IBF split dropped considerably.
Froch told him tough, take it or leave it - and then sparked him out.
He said after that GG deserved a lot more for his role in the whole event. But him being an unreasonable helmet asking for more than himself rubbed him up.

Frampton isn't good enough to get the big paydays in the States. Even Khan doesn't get £1.5m a fight out there and he is backed by a big promoter and is more talented and established than Carl. Carl's market is Britain and Ireland. Hopefully sky stop the exclusive deals when it comes to promoters but given mathcroom have all the darts amongst other things, I can't see that happening anytime soon.
