"Floyd Hits Harder Than A Middleweight"
"Floyd Hits Harder Than A Middleweight"
One of Mayweather's sparring partners opines on Mayweather's punching power, and other things.
BTW, if this is from yesterday (and I am not sure exactly when video was shot but it was posted yesterday) then so much for Flappy Bob's "Floyd can't spar because of a cut lip" story.

As in who Floyd hits harder than.
Re: "Floyd Hits Harder Than A Middleweight"
I think Floyd hits plenty hard enough to cause his opponents problems, he seems to get pleasure from beating them with guile rather than sheer force though.

Then he should have no problem moving up and fighting Triple G right?
Re: "Floyd Hits Harder Than A Middleweight"
I'd like to see that bout but doubt it'll be made, I think it'd take a very powerful hitter to get Golvkin's attention.Baby Face Finster wrote:Then he should have no problem moving up and fighting Triple G right?
Re: "Floyd Hits Harder Than A Middleweight"
By your logic, both Floyd and Pac should, since most folks say Manny hits harder.Baby Face Finster wrote:Then he should have no problem moving up and fighting Triple G right?
Me, I think if GGG wants to fight Floyd, he should do what he has said he would in the past and prove he can make 154.
Re: "Floyd Hits Harder Than A Middleweight"
If it's true then..
1. Why hasn't Floyd been stopping welters even on accident?
2. How is he able to gain this power instantaneously yet accuse someone else of being on PEDs because of it?

I'd love to see both of them move up and get destroyed. Will never happen though.koolkc107 wrote:By your logic, both Floyd and Pac should, since most folks say Manny hits harder.Baby Face Finster wrote:Then he should have no problem moving up and fighting Triple G right?

Re: "Floyd Hits Harder Than A Middleweight"
If he wants either guy, he should fight a contender at 154, force folks to talk about the match-up.
But, as for now, no one is serious about Floyd facing a guy who will weigh as much as light heavy on fight night.

Riiiiiiiiiiight. Sure he does. Threw me a few dollars and I'll tell you anything too.
Re: "Floyd Hits Harder Than A Middleweight"
Hey, I just post it.
Doesn't mean I necessarily buy all of it.
But, what is not in dispute is this.
Clearly, Floyd hits hard enough to make even bigger guys respect him.
And that may prove just hard enough to snuff Manny's pilot light again.

If you think him moving down to 154 will convince Manny or Floyd to fight him I got a swamp in Florida I will sell to you. They will avoid him like the plague and rightfully so. They both know they would end up in the hospital after coming to.koolkc107 wrote:If he wants either guy, he should fight a contender at 154, force folks to talk about the match-up.

Re: "Floyd Hits Harder Than A Middleweight"
Floyd doesn't have much power. He lands flush power shots repeatedly against every opponent but he rarely has them in serious trouble and in 9 years has scored a grand 2 stoppages. Even if someone isn't looking to take opponents out, when they're landing like that they should be showing more signs of hurting their opponents if their power is anything other than below average.

I could easily say that GGG is afraid to go down to 154 because he knows he will look like crap at the weight, not only nixing any Floyd or Pac fight but a Canelo or Cotto match-up as well.
Only one of them has said they want the fight.
Only one of them has said what he'd do to make the fight.
He needs to do what he said he would if he is serious.
Re: "Floyd Hits Harder Than A Middleweight"
If he doesn't have much power why don't we see opponents walking thru his shots to land theirs? There are no welters today with Hitman one punch power but i think Floyd has more than enough power to KO most welters. Floyd doesn't throw combinations like he used to when he was knocking fighters out. He has brittle hands so he's content with landing 1 or 2, maybe 3 punches and going on defense. Notice how his right hand and jab to the body keeps opponents off him and hesitant to throw.crusader wrote:Floyd doesn't have much power. Re: "Floyd Hits Harder Than A Middleweight"
I've seen plenty of opponents keep walking forward against him despite being hit constantly. It can be very discouraging to miss repeatedly and Floyd is a great defensive boxer, so I think that if some fighters are relutant to throw it could be because they keep missing whatever they do throw. Floyd is also a great counterpuncher and another reason opponents may be hesistant is because they know there's a very good chance that they'll be hit back; that doesn't mean that Floyd is hurting them but I'm sure those fighters know that the judges are seeing those shots land and are thus weary of putting themselves in a position to be hit like that.benion wrote:If he doesn't have much power why don't we see opponents walking thru his shots to land theirs? Floyd doesn't completely lack power and he's not featherfisted like Paulie M, but it's hard for me to believe that he has 'much power' when he lands flush power shots repeatedly against nearly everyone he faces yet rarely has them in serious trouble and has scored a meager 2 stoppages in 9 years.

Re: "Floyd Hits Harder Than A Middleweight"
I'm willing to bet Manny hits a lot harder than Floyd.
Of course his sparring partners are going to beef him up. the proof is in the pudding.

Re: "Floyd Hits Harder Than A Middleweight"
LOL.. Why can't he KO anyone, since he has good accuracy, then? Either his boxing sucks or he has no power. I'm going heavily with the latter.
Re: "Floyd Hits Harder Than A Middleweight"
Well, only when he chooses to sit down on his punches.
And we know he can't do that for very long.
If Floyd injures his hands again during the Pac fight, it's going to be a long night for him.

Re: "Floyd Hits Harder Than A Middleweight"
How hard Floyd hits doesn't really matter. He hits hard enough to make opponents pay for their mistakes.
Floyd has always had more power in him, and will use it if needed against Manny. Its not like he only has one or two tools in his toolbox. Not being known as a devastating puncher is not a flaw in his game.

Re: "Floyd Hits Harder Than A Middleweight"
You make it sound like it's a easy thing to do. Saying a finely conditioned athlete such as GGG can just burn of 6 pounds just like that. Marvin Hagler never had to trim weight to face Duran, Hearns or SRL...Why should GGG.koolkc107 wrote:I think we don't know who is avoiding who.Baby Face Finster wrote:If you think him moving down to 154 will convince Manny or Floyd to fight him I got a swamp in Florida I will sell to you. Tommy Hearns, Ray Leonard, and Duran ALL clearly were making a PERMANENT move to the higher weight class when they fought Marvin.
They had long outgrown the welterweight class.
Not one of them ever fought at the lower weight again as they could not make 147.
Hearns had 8 fights at the higher weights (2 at middleweight) before meeting Hagler.
Duran had 7 fights at the higher weight class (1 at middleweight) before meeting Hagler.
And Leonard, although he only had 1 fight above welter before Hagler, did have a 3 year layoff before he met him and 5 years intervening between the last time he made 147.
By contrast, even when Mayweather has fought at jr middleweight (only 3 times), he has never weighed in at more than 151 pounds (even fighting one of those fights as a welterweight when he lost pounds due to illness after the weigh-in).
And he has followed each foray into the higher weight class with a fight back down at his natural weight of 147.
Stop making excuses for Golovkin. If he wants a fight with smaller guys like Pac and Floyd, he is going to have to at least meet them halfway.
Especially when he will never be the A-side with either guy.

Re: "Floyd Hits Harder Than A Middleweight"
I do think if GGG is saying he wants Floyd and can make 154 that is what should happen.
GGG is the one claiming to be able to make the weight and is calling for Floyd.
Make the weight and fight at 154 just once and maybe the fight won't seem like a fantasy.
