I didn't say he was stupid Mark.

Maybe the facts coloured your mind.
Apologies, wasn't implying you said it was, but many people, not just you, have implied that over the past year, and I was just pointing out that the options that Eddie offers are sometimes worth taking a smaller cut. I don't have any inside knowledge of course and I know you're close to Carl/his team but I've heard various fighters talk about Eddies options before.

I'm not sure Groves is too bothered by the finances of 31st May last year, I doubt he will get near £2m as a purse again, barring a Degale rematch if both were world champions.

Would Groves had done worse had he got 25% and done 3 subsequent fights with Match room as opposed to fighting for Saeurlands in meh bouts?

I'm not sure I heard of any options Mark, there might of been - but i actually do not think there was mate.

Even Khan doesn't get £1.5m a fight out there and he is backed by a big promoter and is more talented and established than Carl. Carl's market is Britain and Ireland. Hopefully sky stop the exclusive deals when it comes to promoters but given mathcroom have all the darts amongst other things, I can't see that happening anytime soon.
Good enough? That's always subjective but the key thing is if he is marketable in the states and an irish fighter who crosses the sectarian divide is going to be an easy sell to all the 'irish' americans.

An irishman is a much easier sell than an englishman over there

True, although I can't think of an Irishman in recent years whos sold quite as well in the States as ickle Ricky did, or Naz, or Lennox. These three were elite though, that's the sort of level Frampton has to be in order to crack the yank market, ask Andy Lee and Matthew Macklin. Hardly churning out multi million pound paydays stateside are they?

Frampton is Nothern Irish too, so the fake irish yanks probably won't understand his accent and they certainly don't know anything about the sectarian divide!

As I say, I think Carls market is over here. He's good enough to earn good dough in Britain and Ireland but in order to do that he will have to sell himself to the Devil!

I'd like to think that I've been keeping a close ear to the ground for this fight happening, and I don't remember Frampton being offered 60% straight-up. I think that you might be mistaking that with the 60/40 to the winner deal that Hearn has been pushing.

I think Frampton would win, but those terms are very different on paper.

I'd have to disagree with you there mate. Carl is undoubtedly one of the best fighters in his division and there's fights in there that would attract the American audience, look at Frampton vs Donaire or Frampton vs Mares - and that's not to mention the unification fight against Santa Cruz.

Looking at it like that, I don't think Carl would have a problem selling.
:shame:

The only thing I would add, is that Barry should try and get his first yank fight on the card of a mega fight, just something to get the initial attraction.

This fight is not going to happen. Quigg has not been tested at all and is that stupid WBA version of the title. That stupid title is hindering the fight. Rigo is now pushing for Quigg, so I hope Rigo gets his wish because it will at least unify the WBA title scenario. Then Quigg will be coming back crawling for Frampton, very quickly.

Personally, and I've said this before, but I consider a Quigg vs Rigo fight as an impossibility. Hearn isn't stupid, if that fight goes ahead, Quigg loses his World Title and his unbeaten record...

Who says "straight up" ?

Nobody can pay 60% "straight up" because who knows what it's 60% of ?

Is it 60% of a show that grosses £1m or £4m ? you aren't going to know until the show is finished and PPV are all counted.

Think about it mate.

No one can pay 60% straight up but they can offer a straight 60% cut of the eventual take?
