Howsabout a "back up" option?

If Mr Duran doesn't pick either of us to defend against - we fight each other....

Arguello and Gans have not met thus far this season, and it would be a stern test for both of us and sharpen us up for the MDT. Besides, we are similarly ranked (10th & 11th) - everything points to this being a close contest.

That's a great deal which I accept, and I will offer Sweet Peanut the place as my third back up, since he is managed by man of loose morals and looser tongue.

Crease....you are nothing if not a lawyerly sort. Always an eye for the subtle nuance, and needless bureaucratic imposition.

That's right, just to reiterate the minor titles cannot be unified.

All right, I think now would be a good time for a summary for the four World Titles:

WBC Title activity
The WBC Champion, Floyd Mayweather has challenged the WBA Champion to a unification Super Fight. There has been no reply since.

No challengers have issued interest in facing Mayweather.

WBA Title activity
The WBA Champion, Benny Leonard has offered a title shot to Carlos Ortiz.

The WBC Champion, Floyd Mayweather has challenged the WBA Champion to a unification Super Fight. There has been no reply since.

Joe Gans wants a shot against Benny Leonard.

WBO Title activity
The WBO Champion, Pernell Whitaker has offered a title shot to Joe Gans.

IBF Title activity
The IBF Champion, Roberto Duran has been gauging interest:

9. Carlos Ortiz
10. Tony Canzoneri.
To which - Gans, Arguello, Ortiz & Canzoneri have all agreed to it.

Only Barney Ross has not responded.

I just don't see the point in it with the MDT coming. All it can do is hurt the seed for one of them. All the titles will be unified so why unify now?

Not to mention I've been the guy wanting to unify all year and was ignored, wanted to fight for Lonsdale and have been ducked, wanted title shots and was repeatedly ducked (for about 10 weeks) so it's kind of absurd to complain now. And we fought your guy once and he got a bogus draw he had no right to so bah.

That fight will be signed as soon as Mr Tomasino agrees to it.

Since Pernell is being avoided by everyone.....and those who have been available have shown no interest.....he'll fight Ike Williams.

Mayweather will fight him, which belt do you want to fight for? one of them has to be vacated to make it happen.

If Ross isn't going to go for a title shot, how about we match our guys?
DeJesus and Buchanan v Fernandez and Ross, match 'em up however which way you like, eh?

You will have to wait on Buzz crawling out from behind his sofa after that challenge.

I believe Gans was offered a shot at Sweet P this round.....and it was his manager that found solice on the ol Lazy Boy.

I understand the commish's wish to make good fights.....and the willingness to drop a title to do so. This is a commish's burden....to do right under all circumstances.....I hated this expectation when I was at the helm. So I will not place this expectation on Mayweather and his management team. Say what you will, we already fought a close fight where we prevailed (or was it a draw? I forget) it is not for lack of courage that we dismiss this honorable option. WE called EVERYONE out....which is all we can do.

But as someone said....all titles will be in the mix it appears during the upcoming tourney. I assume champions will all be fighting for their belts correct?

Tomasino....you just stay busy and see if you get your camp to win a few fights.....and I guarantee, Gans will dancing with some "stars" so to speak, when Sweet P and Joe face off once again....as they inevitably will. The two most talented tacticians to ever lace up the gloves.

I'm not sure who has accepted what? I guess I'll wait for it to be updated on the first page.

Yes. I also asked if you would sign up but didn't hear anything back, I'm sure you will have someone highly ranked to face.

Maybe we'll meet up in the MDT, or at least after we can. Not sure if I will still have the strap by then, but it should be a good fight none the less.

Mayweather offered the rematch to Arguello a rematch it seems.

Duran will take on Carlos Ortiz then, since he had interest. Best of luck to you sir..... :salut:
