Mayweather v Pacquiao

Post by Ian1973 »

Is anyone else other than me completely disinterested in this fight? Two fighters past their best, so much hype it's cringeworthy. Who cares, i'd rather see see Provodnikov v Matthysse next week. Now that is a proper fight.

Yup Mattysse v Provodnikov is the fight to watch. Who knows might be two fight of the year honors back to back for Lucas.

Floyd v Pac will be a huge let down Floyd will pot shot and Manny will chase.

Easy Floyd ud 116 112 type.

I agree. For one thing Floyd is too big for Pac and secondly Pac has deteriorated more than Floyd has. This is NOT fight of the century like it's being billed.

Its the fight of popularity.

Of course the casuals think it will be the greatest fight ever but those in the know know what it really will be.

The amount of thread on that fight suggest that those in the know seems to shows a lot of interest in that fight. That only should be a good way to mesure how this is popular among boxing fan.
We should be thankful this fight is making boxing prime sport again..

Why? The suckers that pay to watch this fight won't watch another one. They won't pay for BN subscription etc. These people will be one fight "experts" rather like the people who bet once a year in the grand national. When Floyd wins they will be sucked in by all the crap and go to work next morning telling everyone that Floyd is the best fighter ever. They know Fk all.

I've been involved in boxing for many years and I'm excited this fight has been made, it's five years too late but they are still the standouts in the boxing world, the fans that won't buy another fight after this one wouldn't have bought one anyway, the fact that this is such a high profile fight will be the reason they spend the money on this, I think cloutov was right on the money with his summary

If youre not interested in this fight you're no boxing fan.

yeah cause I've met football fans not interested in world cup or champions league finals. Tennis fans not interested in Wimbledon finals. American football fans not interested in Superbowl finals.

People remotely interested in boxing will be watching or they are bullshitters. This is the best v the best.

Its mostly because Floyd isnt doing a good job promoting the fight.

If you are completely disinterested in the #1 & #2 guy in a division fighting I don't know what it'd take to get you interested in boxing. Even in divisions I'm not that excited about the #1 & #2 guys fighting is interesting to me.

I think in this case - "completely disinterested" translates to your favorite fighter is probably going to lose.

Floyd not doing a good job of promoting the fight? You really think that 5 yrs of hype and bs isn't sufficient?

I really look forward to Matthysse vs Provo too. I hope both take a year off though afterwards so their brains can heal up some.

i guess he's not too clever when he's not making racist internet videos or accusing people of PEDs without proof

Still two of the best in the sport. Regardless of how good they were it's hard for me to think of a recent bout involving a higher combined level of ability.

I think I may have gone a bit O.T.T. when I said "completely disinterested" in the fight.

I think it's more the crap and the bullshit that irritates me then my interest diminishes. It's the same with Anthony Joshua at the moment, all the crap and hype on Sky (UK) about him leaves me wanting him to get sparked out and it's nothing against the guy himself.
