Frampton/McGuigan paradox

I met Barry and Carl briefly after the Parody fight. Got a picture with both no charge lol. I also got a signed glove from Carl through a friend of my dad who is on the committee at Crusaders who Carl is a big fan of. Both seem top guys.

Barry obviously loves the game etc, but lets not get carried away, he isn't involved for the love of it. He wants his dough out of it and whats wrong with that?

I like Barry, he comes across well but I also know a bit about him away from the sport ( ex-business partners with a local civil engineer who I know in my area ) and when it comes to a pound note, he is all business. Why would this be any different in Boxing?

Those who see this as a blisfully happy marriage based on the love of the sport and "crossing the divide" are off their head. It's ALL about the dough, and again, what is wrong with that? Nothing at all.

I've been assured that Barry was ten times more popular back in his heyday than what Frampton is now. I was too young to know. The world was a smaller place back then and the fights you watched were the ones you were given. Now you can watch almost any fight you like and follow fighters from places like Kazakhstan with little trouble. Frampton isn't talented enough to crack the real big time ( he isn't Hatton, Lewis, Calzaghe, Naz etc )

I just hope he and Quigg, and Bary and even effing Eddie all make a decent wedge out of a fight a lot of us want to see ( I'm not actually all that fussed about it )

You honestly think its ALL about the dough? I'm pretty sure he has some feelings for the lad and genuinely wants to see him do well after seeing him rise and rise in the game and being a big part of it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not blind and yes I can see that he will make some money as well along the way, I just think there is more to it than that..

Also...how do you class cracking the big time?? he's already up there with the best in the division and could probably sell out arenas in Belfast whenever he feels like it while being brilliant to watch along the way! I'd say he verging on big time already???

Cracking the big time? It's Hatton/Naz level. Someone who sends a ripple through the whole sport, someone who the fans and networks are fighting over to see anywhere they fight. Framtpon is a very good fighter and I'm a fan. He isn't on that level though. Not talented enough.

I'm sure they have a good relationship, are pals etc but does anyone think they would be 'so close' if Carl lost half a dozen of his first ten fights? It's all about the dough.
