PBC commentating is horrible
And sadly enough the worst is the "boxing expert" sugar ray leonard.
These guys are only making pbc look very amateurish.
Reminds me of a bad reality show.

Re: PBC commentating is horrible
It was bad.
Marv Albert sounds a lot like Colonel Sheridan. and Leonard is very biased.
They should hire Antonio Tarver, he's the best commentator/analyst.

Its kinda f#cked up that the most impressive lineup in names is also the worst at their job (imho). Sounds like it should be great when you just see all those names. The reality isn't so great.
Those names could be getting people watching that wouldn't normally watch though. Those names with prime time boxing legitimizes things just a lil more. All in all its still a work in progress & I've already seen changes so I suspect what we'll be seeing in 6mos-12mos will be a better overall product & I'll be enjoying the boxing even if they hired that Mr. Bean guy & Kim Kardashian to commentate.

Ray was a good analyst in the 80s, the contender series ruined him
Re: PBC commentating is horrible
Leonard is Horrendous as an announcer.
Boring & Biased, and it's difficult to be both, but Leonard manages.
I thought Lee-Quillen was awful too. They were like 2 kids who were terrified of each other.

Re: PBC commentating is horrible
Al Haymon's PBC is not about giving the fans the best fights matching the best vs. the best. It's about in house matchups choreographed by Haymon who will discriminate against and shun all great fighter he does not control. PBC is about creating phony, protected stars and most of all -- constructing Al Haymon as the master of the boxing universe.
It's good to see PBC is exposing itself for what it is in the first two months of operation. Fraud reality show propaganda machine.

Re: PBC commentating is horrible
SRL is my favorite boxer of all time but he has GOT TO GO. He just sits there whispering foolishness into the mic. Marv Albert wasn't that bad the other night. I thought he was pretty good but SRL is just brutal. My favorite PBC crew is the SPIKE crew with Scott Hanson and Antonio Tarver. Those guys were great.
So they either need to add a third member to the ringside team or get rid of SRL. F'ng awful

Re: PBC commentating is horrible
Ray wasn't great in the 80s, and his constant failed predictions of 1st round "flash flood knockdowns" was tedious (after he got it right once), but he was serviceable and occasionally made some strong points. I agree, ever since the Contender series he's become atrocious.Tomasino wrote:Ray was a good analyst in the 80s, the contender series ruined him

Give me a break . . awful? It wasn't a great fight but it was a decent fight. The best in the series so far IMO.Tony1244 wrote:Leonard is Horrendous as an announcer.

Re: PBC commentating is horrible
After I watched the first PBC broadcast, and almost threw up, I watch PBC fights online on replay with BОX Nation commentating.
This way at least I get decent objective commentating, and don't give Haymon and NBC my view.

Trust me when you hear his bogus commentary you would never think this guy was the expert of the bunch.Ricky_ wrote:I've not heard SRLs commentry but why do you have boxing expert in inverted commas? Re: PBC commentating is horrible
I like Ray Leonard but he wasn't particularly good on the recent show especially during the Danny Garcia v Lamont Peterson fight, he seemed to be speaking too positively about Lamont's running while trying to pass it off as a genuinely entertaining and a useful and effective strategy.
When it comes to what Lamont Peterson was doing during some of the early rounds I felt slightly conflicted because the running Peterson was doing was overkill, but there's a place for it as long as it's done in a certain way and doesn't last for too long.
This is where I think Ray may have slipped up because Peterson was just doing it way too much and it went on for too many rounds.
In general I like Ray Leonard and feel he's a very smart guy and shouldn't be judged too harshly because he had one off night.
I always welcome Ray's input and analysis because over the years he's been a clued up guy and is very knowledgeable, so in that respect I say cut him some slack because Ray's opinion is a very valuable one that many of us can pick up some useful tips from.
That said I understand people's frustration and do agree it wasn't one of his finer evenings.

I thought it was pretty awful. You have 2 heavy hitters doing virtually nothing for most of the fight, wasting the fan's time, and not taking any chances. I don't watch fights to watch fighters take no chances.
