Derry Matthews v barroso fight off?

Post by BOYOVERTHEHILL »

Hearing whispers the fight is off?
Hope this is not the case but it seems they are after a shot at perez?
Really hope the fight goes ahead as I think barroso was going to bring it and it would have been a war.
Anyone know more information. .....
cheers fellas

What is wrong with British boxing?

The amount of pullouts recently is ridiculous.

Yup, British boxing becomes more like a Jeff Stryker movie every day....

Tony Luis is a good replacement so late he was meant to fight Friday night so we know he's in shape and coming off the biggest win of his career by dominating Karl Dargan should be a good fight both action fighters

I mentioned Luis as a possible opponent for Mathews before Barroso was confirmed, this is gonna be a tough ask for Derry, seen Tony's last fight against Karl Dargan who was the unbeaten favorite going in but Luis just bullied him for the 10 rounds and put him down in the last,he set a frantic pace, hopefully Derry will use all his experience and hurt him ,KO might be his best shot

If this is right, then the only person to come out of this with dignity is Derry, no public moaning from him, just getting on with the job of training.
He so desperately wants this title shot, doesn't matter who's in front of him.

I echo this. Seen Luis fight a couple of times and he's a tough fighter who never takes a backwards step. If Luis was in training for another fight I actually make him favourite. Anyone know the UK odds? I would defo throw 50 on Luis if the odds are rightt.

Luis was due to fight this Friday, so is fully fight fit.
Not seen that much of him, but his loss by tko stands out as hope for Derry.
Read up a bit on Luis , and looked at his facebook page, comes across as a really decent guy. No bad mouthing and comes to fight, a refreshing change from some of the bs you get from a lot of modern boxers

Luis-Derry is a very well-matched fight.

Well done Frank. To get Luis at that type of notice is brilliant. Happy to rip him when he gets it wrong but this time he has done really well. Credit to ol fish eyes.

There hasnt even been plenty of time since Abril pulled out , Derry was more than happy to fight Barroso as he is this lad hasn't once moaned about who hes fighting think he deserves credit for that alot of boxers would of spat their dumbys out massively over all this

Just watched Luis's last fight he is no knockover and I reckon the main event could be pretty good main event Saturday night.

Shame the undercard has fallen apart.

The pace Luis set against Dargan was frightening, I think everyone assumed Dargan would win well but Luis just kept going and going and Karl couldn't deal with it

Tony isn't a big puncher but he's a solid puncher and can definitely trouble Mathews ,Derry's the better boxer I think though and he has the power, I just hope all the drama of having a world title fight pulled twice and Barroso withdrawing hasn't affected him come Saturday
