Algieri vs Gavin - who would win?

Post by davie »

One has only lost to to Manny Pacquiao and won a legit world title against a world class operator and hard hard bar steward.
The other has yet to prove he is beyond European level, barely nicked a decision against Bradley Skeete and has lost to 40 year old Bundu.....

Surely Kell Brook owes Khan a public apology for comment made about him ducking him to fight a weaker opponent, when he is about to try and sell the British public this horse shite on PPV

I don't think there is much between them to be honest. Provodnikov while a real tough nut is very one dimensional. Algieri got completely swatted aside and made to look amateurish by Pacquiao. Both guys have proven they are tough enough (more so Algieri). The thing is Khan chose to fight Algieri over Brook not the other way around. I also give Brook a bit of leeway because of the injury he suffered. This is essentially just to keep him ticking over. I take your point about levels though after the way Thurman easily handled Bundu and Gavin went life and death with him.

No question on the opponents...but try not to forget that Brook tried to get Khan in the first place....so he hardly owes him an apology? the only reason Kell had to find somebody else is because Khan wouldn't fight him?

Gavin is rated higher by most organisations.

Kell's first choice was to box Khan.
Khan's first choice was to pick Algieri.

Algieri is by far the toughest i think, yes he got bounced off the canvas 6 times versus Manny but i honestly couldn't see Gavin doing that without staying down,Provodnikov is better than anyone Gavin has beaten in my opinion,so it's Algieri for me.

I don't know mate that's a bit unfair, were those first 4 fights even makeable? The Brook fight was there ready and waiting and he ducked it, plain and simple.

well in my humble opinion anyway.

The facts are that Khan wants a Mayweather or Pacquiao fight so he isn't fighting brook. Is he ducking him and taking the low risk option? Yes.

But Brook wants Khan and is taking even less risk by fighting Gavin.

the point I was making was it's OK for Brook to criticise Khans choice of opponent then go and do exactly the same thing against even weaker opposition

they are both holding out in hope of the big payday, so Brook has really just made a hypocrite of himself

Brook plans to fight twice over the summer though so maybe we should wait and see who's next on the list,Gavin is a relatively short notice fight and it's only because Khan refused.

Harsh to say brook owes khan an apolgy.

Khan could have had the summer fight with kell once the mayweather fight was signed ages ago. All he had to do was say once kell beats dan well get it on.

Kell will have had more fights since being stabbed than khan by August. Not many champs fight top opponents/madatorys back to back to back. Let kell deal with Funtime frankie before seeing who he chooses with a little bit of training time. If he announces early June to fight late August/September then that will be a decent gap for a decent name.

When khan beats Algeri what will he do?? Call out manny or floyd who will either go their own way and leave khan hanging again.
