Tony Harrison vs Pablo Munguia

Post by handsofstone »

FNF tonight looks like another knock over job for Harrison surely

Munguia has a win over Luis Grajeda who's decent but losses to Yudel Jhonson and Antonin Decarie on points but I noticed he got KOd from Alvaro Robles who Brook KOd last year and a few others,Harrison's coming off his best win KOn Antwone Smith in 2,he also has a KO win over Contender champ Grady Brewer apart from that not much else on his CV

What do people think of Harrison? He can punch anyhow 20-0(17 Ko). I've only seen him a couple of times but I've been impressed, I know he hasn't beat anyone great yet but why the lack of hype?

why the lack of hype?
He wasn't a stellar amateur, hasn't been on TV much to my knowledge, and his opposition has been fairly weak; Smith is clearly past his best and was already blown out in almost identical fashion by Jermall Charlo, while Brewer had lost three straight entering the bout then lost his next fight. Those are probably his best two opponents and I think many others could beat them handily too.

I thought Brewer was getting on when he won Contender ,I remember FNF were touting Smith for things too but he's not good enough,TBF to Harrison he's putting these guys away early

Yes, the manner of his victories warrants him getting attention and it seems like he's broken through a bit with his recent TV appearances. He should win this fairly easily and hopefully soon after that he raises his level of opposition.

Harrison wins easy. But doesn't reach the top level.

At this point that's my prediction too, though maybe he'll prove me wrong.

I thought Harrison was in there with GI Jose, absolute joke of a fight,Munguia looked like a little barrel although he did let his hands go I'll give him that and the KD Tony scored in the 2nd was nice but apart from that it was a total mismatch

FNF get a lot of stick for their match ups but they probably show more 50/50 fights than any other station, certainly here in the UK anyway ,they lack big names but they get good fights throughout the bills but last night was a waste of time

Fight was a joke. Main event joke. Speaking of jokes here's one...

Mushroom walks into a bar and doesn't have ID. Bouncer won't let him in. Mushroom says "please let me in, I'm a fungai".

Can't believe Pablo Mungai's alias isn't Fungai. Pablo Fungai Mungai. He even looks like a brown mushroom.

Munguia being so short meant that he was never going to make Harrison look good in there but Harrison is class. If Haymon can get him some better fights he'll be world level within a year or two.
