Hearn/Brook said NO to Rios for May 30th
Hearn/Brook said NO to Rios for May 30th
and set up a PPV extravaganza with Gavin instead! Just what the fans wanted.
According to fast car Brook will probably fight Rios in September, the question is, why the fcuk not on May 30th or in June???

And if Bradley gets his hands on Rios first, there goes that cash cow.

I'm sure Bundu would jump at a chance to fight Brook once he has dealt with Gavin.ALI wrote:And if Bradley gets his hands on Rios first, there goes that cash cow.
Remember, by then Bundu will be able to be listed as 'the man who beat world title challenger Frankie Gavin' in order to stick it on ppv
Re: Hearn/Brook said NO to Rios for May 30th
The way things are going i would'nt be surprised.
It pisses me off that Hearn's been throwing Rios's name out there as an oponent for Brook, only to knock the guy back when he comes looking for it.Thats a piss take!
Yeah yeah, they're going to figt him next, if Bradley dont paste him first. Why the eff they dont fight him now though??? Brook had his come back fight against Dan, a piss poor oponent by anyones standards. Fair enough, he was coming off a serious injury, but he's still a world champion and needs to be fighting at true world level. Dan and Gavin should not be fighting for world titles. Brook should not be rejecting Rios in favour of a fight with Gavin. Its not on IMO!

Its amazing how quickly things change, one minute Hearns the saviour of British boxing, the next he's raping the fans pockets with a smile on his face.mullenman wrote:ruining boxing now after a great start

Did you expect it to go any other way? Well if his camp said it, it must be true.

The proof will be in the pudding once the Gavin fight is done.Parson Cross wrote:Well if his camp said it, it must be true.

Hearn started off well but once settled he reverted to 'Big British Promoter' type. No risk, quality of fights dropping off etc

Have a word with the IBF if you demand answers. They made Dan mandatory - brook had to face the mandatory.
What is your opinion of Khan for running scared ?

I would'nt waste a second of my life taking it up with the IBF!Parson Cross wrote:Ali

Khan should take the fight, no question!
I'm inclined tho believe team Rios wanted the fight, i'm also inclined to believe Hearn purposefully made no mention of Rios being a possibility for May/June as his only intention was to milk the fans with another easy defense. I believe Brook wants the big fights but feel he might need to be careful with Hearn at the helm. For the time being Hearns clearly talked him into getting paid before getting it on with the real challengers to his belt. Brook should put his foot down after Gavin and take on a real solid name. With such a rich pool of top drawer talent in and around welterweight there's no excuse for anything less.

You said Dan shouldn't be fighting for the title.
He was mandatory.
You're inclined to believe camp Rios.
Why ?

Re: Hearn/Brook said NO to Rios for May 30th
Brook doesn't want the tough fights at all. He wants to be protected with easy pay days until he can land a big fight where he will be happy to take a pasting for the money.
The best thing that could happen to him is if Khan stands his ground and doesn't fight him. Then he will be forced to fight tough opponents.
Brook has fought one decent level guy who was massively over rated.

Re: Hearn/Brook said NO to Rios for May 30th
It's a bit harsh to judge his reign after one defence, after coming back from being stabbed by the way.
Re: Hearn/Brook said NO to Rios for May 30th
I dont see anyone judging his reign, i'm pointing out he's fighting completely unworthy oponents when there's better ranked challengers like Rios calling for a shot. Its not on!SNG wrote:It's a bit harsh to judge his reign after one defence, after coming back from being stabbed by the way.
As Parsons keenly points out, Dan was his mandatory which makes it excusable, also as he was coming back from a horrific injury, but to take Gavin over Rios in hisnsecond defense is not on. Gavin does not deserve a title shot, no fan in their right mind wants this fight, Its a money grab, full stop.

I won't be as revisionist as Kingfield, decent champion, but next big thing? Not even close.Switch hitter wrote:But before the fight Porter was the next big thing.....funny how people's opinions changeKingfield wrote:Brook doesn't want the tough fights at all. I agree with that, but I was speaking to the person directly above me who is questioning his legacy, claiming he'll take easy fights till he cashes out. I think it's a little premature to claim that, but this is a disappointing option but he has a long career yet.ALI wrote:I dont see anyone judging his reign, i'm pointing out he's fighting completely unworthy oponents when there's better ranked challengers like Rios calling for a shot. Ok, were on the same page then. Definately too early to make presumptions as to how he will handle his career oponent wise, but Dan and Gavin could be a warning sign for things to come. I doubt now that he will take Frochs path but i do believe he intends to fight the elite names in the division, probably just intersperse a big fight with a few lower level oponents. Time will reveal all.SNG wrote:I agree with that, but I was speaking to the person directly above me who is questioning his legacy, claiming he'll take easy fights till he cashes out. According to Robbert Garcia no. Rios is right pissed. There he is agreeing on Brook calling him out and thst changes his mind and chooses another opponent.ALI wrote:According to fast car Brook will probably fight Rios in September
And yes you are being milked. That PPV is travesty.

Kell is not big enough, yet, to attract the numbers needed to bring Rios over! He'd be wanting a lot of money.
Re: Hearn/Brook said NO to Rios for May 30th
Watched a video on YouTube yesterday where Garcia was saying Rios was desperate to get the fight, UK was no problem for him, he was coming into the gym everyday asking if it was signed yet. Doubt he priced himself out of it, more like Hearn/Brook wanted to cash out before taking any risks. Interesting Hearn/Brook never mentioned Rios as a possible oponent for May/June, reminds of that line in Pulp Fiction, goes something like "this is a robbery...... "mickey1975 wrote:Kell is not big enough, yet, to attract the numbers needed to bring Rios over! He'd be wanting a lot of money.
They are cashing out, shamelessly!

He'd have still wanted paying. He wasn't coming for the cash Frankie will be getting. He's earned some serious dough in the last few years.
