Re: Matthysse vs Provodnikov
I thought Matthysse absolutely dominated Provodnikov last night,I had it 118-111,I couldn't split in the last round
How can anyone score that a draw? Terrible scoring IMO,Provodnikov is brave and never stopped coming forward but he was picked off time and again by Matthysse's jab,Lucas also had success throughout with uppercuts from both hands and right crosses but I was most impressed with his footwork for the whole 12 rounds, that was the best I've seen Matthysse box and he made it look easy in there
Ruslan deserves credit for continuesly trying but he was shown to be the crude fighter he is,its affective at a lower level but quite easily to deter if you know how to use a ring(and can take a shot)
Some of the rounds were closer but I refuse to give someone a round just because it was closer and I'm worried my scorecard look too wide, excellent performance by Matthysse and thankfully he got the verdict

Re: Matthysse vs Provodnikov
I had it 115-112 Matthyse but could see 116-112 as well. He boxed superbly for stretches and won his rounds bigger, but Provodnikov really started to come on strong later and in particular had more success when he started to stand off a bit and loop shots around Matthyse's guard. Well-deserved victory for the Argentinian.

I usually don't find too much fault with Dan Rafael's scoring, but he had it 114-114 as well

He was probably too busy eating to watch the fight.Boxerbeetle wrote:I usually don't find too much fault with Dan Rafael's scoring, but he had it 114-114 as well

His scoring of fights is meant to be bad,he seemingly always plumps for the guy on the frontfootreggaereggae wrote:He was probably too busy eating to watch the fight.Boxerbeetle wrote:I usually don't find too much fault with Dan Rafael's scoring, but he had it 114-114 as well

This was a great fight and restored my faith in boxing and b nation. Both fighters deserved their pay cheques last night.
Re: Matthysse vs Provodnikov
It was a very good fight, Lucas boxed very well, Ruslan needs a different profession, he's going to and up in a bad way.
Re: Matthysse vs Provodnikov
115-113 Lucas
Clear win but Ruslan made him work hard for it, especially over the second half. There were at least four times I thought Lucas was rocked (twice from left hooks and twice from rights, which makes me wonder how anyone could think he had an easy night) but he stayed composed and didn't resort to slugging for too long.
And how about Ruslan's chin? Wow!

At least you have the right winner, but 118-111 isn't good scoring either in my opinion and so far it's the widest score I've seen. How can anyone score that a draw? Terrible scoring IMO

Re: Matthysse vs Provodnikov
Some of the scoring of this fight is ridiculous. Matthyse dominated the fight and was a clear winner.
Seriously, anyone scoring that fight a draw has no idea in my book.
I had it by 5 rounds to Matthyse. It wasn't a close fight at all. Provodnikov was crude as he'll and way too easy to hit.
When they called the first score a draw I thought Matthyse was getting robbed again like he did against Judah and Alexander.

Best Rocky style fight since Jones-Levedev. Awesome and a credit to the sport

I get more pleasure from reading about the likes of Bill Richmond than I do watching fights like this. Matthysse has always been slightly off my radar I confess, but I did like his jab which was like a rapier at times. Provodnikov? Well, brave, a great puncher but this isn't the way I like to see a fighter - just walking into shots. He clearly felt it was his 'strength' and he clearly wobbled the Argentine but, after this fight, I'd be surprised if both these lads don't have problems passing a routine brain scan unfortunately.
That's my two cents anyway, sorry for the late reply. Thanks to Boxcountry replays!
