Where is Fonfara in LHW ?

Post by tomek0412 »

My own ranking:
1.Kovalev
2.Stevenson
3.Beterbiev
4.Fonfara
5.Pascal
6.Hopkins
7.Braehmer
8.Alvarez
9.Chilemba
10.Oosthuizen

What is the best option for Fonfara right now ?
1.Froch
2.Stevenson rematch
3.Chavez JR rematch
4.Kovalev
5.Beterbiev

I think Froch would be interesting option.

I agree, Froch would be the most competitive. Kovalev and Beterbiev would destroy him, and Stevenson would comfortably outbox him.

I'm not sure that i'd say anyone on this list would "destroy" Fonfara after what i saw last night. I know that he was fighting a smaller, one dimensional, fighter last night but he showed great skill and unique tools. This kid is clearly improving and I can't wait to see more of him. I don't know much about his trainer from Chicago but I was impressed with the way he handled this kid when Showtime let us listen in between some of those rounds. I bet that we see more from this trainer in the future.

Fonfara isn't that good. Just because he beat Chavez Jr doesn't automatically make him top 5 LHW. Chavez Jr is just sh*t as f**k. It just took a while before he got exposed for what he is. Average overpaid trash running on his father's name.

I'm 100% sure kovalev or beterbiev Destroys him

You're giving JCCjr too much respect and finally he was smaller guy

JCCjr is slow , inactive and still did damage in places against fonfara

The 2 killers mentioned above completely outwork opponent and are heavy handed

And as slow as Chavez was last night , fonfara didn't look much better in spurts. Even the KD punch was slow and telegraphed

Egor? Mekhontsev was excellent amateur, but he dosn't impress in the pros so far. Just like Shelestyuk now or Korobov before. Beteribiev is a beast. Can't rank him over Kovalev or Stevenson now, but he has the potential to dominate LHW division. As for Fonfara - he is good, very underrated fighter. Has good power, good workrate and underrated skills. But I can't see him beating guys like Kovalev. Everything he does good, Kovalev does better.

Well, Hopkins wanted to fight Chavez. If he is not retiring, maybe he could fight Fonfara at the same weight as Chavez did ?

Imo Fonfara is top ten, but time will tell where he is after a few other good tests. He gave Stevenson all he wanted in the latter part of that bout, so he is pretty damn decent. Chavez getting his ass handed to him by Fonfara seems to be more of a discredit to Chavez than a credit to Fonfara. Hats off to Fonfara for exposing Chavez. Great win for him. What is really funny is Chavez's trainer said he would take over boxing after Floyd and Pac retire?

He's top ten but I don't see him beating Stevenson or Kovalev and I wouldn't be surprised if any of Alvarez, Chilemba, or Beterbiev beat him. Despite winning last night I didn't think he looked good (remember that Chavez seriously struggled with Vera and had yet to fight a legitimate LHW) and I thought he looked poor against Ngumbu. He's got solid power, good stamina, and despite an early stoppage lose at MW he seems to take a good shot, but he's also slow of hand and foot, fairly easy to hit, and one-dimensional.

I'd like to see him fight Alvarez or Beterbiev next.

Beterbiev will take his head off in 6 at most. I am surprised to see Beterbiev mentioned with Chilemba and Alvarez. Of course, his resume is short and doesn't contain great wins, but it's not his resume which gets into the ring. I think he is clearly better than Pascal and may pose significant danger to Kovalev and Stevenson.

Beterbiev has more to prove before I can put him a tier above those fighters. I'd favor him to beat each of them but I don't think it's a foregone conclusion.

Fonfara is not a threat at the top of LHW. He is a good test though to anyone outside top 5.

I would pick Fonfara to beat Adonis in a rematch , he would out-work Hopkins and demolish the shopworn Pascal .

He is in the top 5 . Would like to see him fight Braehmer

I think that Fonfara is in top-5 of LHW and I'd like to see his fight against Beterbiev.

1 Kovalev
2 Hopkins
3 Stevenson
4 Pascal
5 Braehmer

That is the top five for me. Fonfara won't beat any of that lot.
