He never won a legit title at 140 either, just the IBO I think

This much is true, Diaz was not the holder of the Lineal Title at 140; http://www.gcrgc.org/yj/201412/a_Intere ... pion_.htmlhandsofstone wrote:He never won a legit title at 140 either, just the IBO I think

No, Ricky Hatton was when Pacquiao beat him.

Among the 8 is the farce of a belt won against 'Cheato.
Here's why you know it is a fake belt.
If the WBC decided next week that the May 2 winner would also win it's Cruiserweight title, would it mean a legitimate additional belt for Floyd or Manny?
If your answer is no, then Manny is no 154 pound champion and the count goes down to 7.
Then there are folks who have a problem with his belt won from Cotto.
They rightly cite the fact that a champion at 147 was coerced into putting his belt on the line while not being able to weigh in at the belt's limit of 147.
If you think that is wrong, we are down to 6.
Then, you have the title won by beating Barrera which had NO sanctioning body attached. I think Ring titles are legit. Some purists think, Ring title or not, there should be a legit sanctioning body's belt attached if you are going to count it.
If you are one of those purist, you are down to 5.
Of course, no discussion of Pac's legit belts is complete without mentioning the stunt he pulled at lightweight.
He fought the weakest of 3 standing champions at 135, David Diaz. Some folks call that bogus. Call that 4
Last but not least, when he fought Hatton, it was a Ring and IBO title that was won.
Again, the Ring is legit to me but some purist say a legit sanctioning body's belt has to go with a ring title. The IBO may not fit their definition of legit.
So, depending on how you define winning and what you deem legit, Pac may have as few as 3 real titles.
LMAO!!!!!!

The keyword here is World Champion. Pacman won the IBO at lightwelterweight. Ricky Hatton was seen as The Ring champion at 140lbs but his world titles were long gone. Manny Pacquiao never held a World title at 140lbs.

Hatton was The Champ in all the rankings before Pac decapitated him. It's like, did Sergio stop being The Champ when the WBC stripped him for not fighting Zbik. Capiche, dumba$$?KBB wrote:

For once I agree with this a$$wipe. Pac's 8th belt was bogus no doubt, kinda like Floyd's 5th.koolkc107 wrote:8 is just another hyped thing about Manny.Purse Bid Shakedown wrote:It's based on him winning the lineal belt at 126 from lineal champ Barreracraigjenkins05 wrote:

So you don't feel lineal belts are legit? Sergio stopped being The Champ when they stripped him for not fighting Zbik? Re: Pacquaios weights
You're an idiot, Ricky had the IBO Belt, not the Lineal Title at 140 and the Lineal title was a "Vacant" title by the time they fought. The IBO Title is a Minor Title.Purse Bid Shakedown wrote:Hatton was The Champ in all the rankings before Pac decapitated him. Yes lineal titles are I suppose just they don't really announce it or mention it during the fights or build up do they? So wondering how they class it as a world title ? Doesn't really seem to get mentioned a lot but yes your right

Why are you linking some crappy BN24 opinion piece? I gave you an authoritative link, Hatton was lineal/Ring champ before Pac. In fact his previous opponent Paulie had just made a defense of the IBF belt, then didn't pay the sanctioning fee vs Hatton.KBB wrote:You're the only Troll here, defending Bob Arum (only an idiot does that).Purse Bid Shakedown wrote:Who do you think you're fooling, troll? http://boxrec.com/media/index.php/The_R ... ght--2000s

I think more interestingly pac is 4 division linear champion, which is a record i believe.
Re: Pacquaios weights
None of the other sanctioning bodies recognized this bout as being for the Lineal title.Purse Bid Shakedown wrote:Why are you linking some crappy BN24 opinion piece? Are you going to say that the bogus title he fought Margarito for is legit too??

Re: Pacquaios weights
They do to some degree because how else can one recognize who beat the real man that is considered to be the real champion? At some point one of the fighters had to be the more dominant/recognized best due to taking belt(s)/title(s) from another fighter and even if that said fighter vacated the title/belt he would still be considered to be the man.Purse Bid Shakedown wrote:Sanctioning bodies have nothing to do with lineal or Ring belts, idiot. Normally these type of fighters has beaten either one or more of the other titleholders (whether they held the WBC/WBA/IBF straps) at some point.
I don't see how you can discount the other organization titleholders because at some point they had to have faced one or more of them in order to be considered the man.
Lineal is just something for us fans because we don't really subscribe to all the alpha org titles but truthfully speaking it does to some degree which is exactly why none of the sanctioning bodies agree with it because the said fighter either didn't beat one of their guys who holds those straps/titles.

Uh whatever. Was Sergio lineal after getting stripped for not fighting Zbik?
