Topic A - How are the rankings affected by Carlos Takam's KO4 win over Marcelo Luiz Nascimento?

I always hesitate to do this because I'm always told that I "Did it wrong," kind of like when your wife asks you to do a chore. :witzend: Here it goes:

My vote: Takam moves up to #7, Nascimento remains unranked.

My vote: Szpilka moves up to #10, Cobb remains unranked.

My vote: Klitschko remains champion, Jennings remains at #5.

Nascimento and Cobb aren't very good, but I try to credit activity.

Takam remains at #8, Nascimento remains unranked.
Szpilka remains at #11, Cobb remains unranked.
Klitschko remains champion, Jennings UP TO #4.

Bryant's performance against Wlad was so competitive, I have to move him above Pulev, at least; because Wlad broke his foot off in Pulev's ass. I honestly have gained so much additional respect for Jennings off of that performance, it makes me wonder if he's actually better than Fury, Wilder, and Povetkin. But moving him all the way up to #1 from a loss feels like it'd be going too far.

Takam up one place... Jennings slips down to 8th.
Frankly, I'm surprised that he is ranked so highly. He hasn't had that many meaningful victories thus far in his career.

Jennings has two wins over current BoxRec forum top 15 ranked fighters.

Only Klitschko & Fury have beaten as many or more.

Takam remains at 8, nascimento stays unranked

Szpilka remains 11, Cobb stays unranked

Klitschko remains Champ, Jennings up to 4

Neither Takam or Szpilka's victories are worthy of a move up the rankings imo.
I think Jennings should move above Pulev given the contrasting performances vs Wlad

Thanks for that mate, I didn't realise that - but then I don't keep up-to-date with the Forum rankings.
:TU:

In saying that, I don't know what it is, but I wouldn't rank him in my top 10 of the current Heavies.

I've always liked these rankings (they're generally better than BoxRec's and far better than the alphabet soup rankings), but I think mine are usually a little better because they are voted on and not determined by a calculator and can adjust for judge corruption and/or incompetence.

Jezzamundo - I agree, I think that a top 10 or 15 is better by a panel. I think much past that and it gets skewed up a bit a not enough people really know enough to decifer who is the 22nd best or 32nd best, after top 15 subjective is better. All ratings some will see some in the wrong positions to some eyes. In yours I think only Chagaev is too high, so overall pretty good. If you look deeper into the IWBR, you will see Chagaev has only beat 1 top 50 opponent in something like 5 years. Perhaps Arreola might be a bit high. IWBR has Glazkov too high, he has done it on merit but subjectively he does not look better than Fury or Wilder or indeed Joshua. Sometimes ABCs have fighters fighting for titles that have never faced a top 100 opponent. You can challenge that and say its just IWBR ratings but it is hard to find meaningful fights of these N100 fighters when you look at their records, if you look on world title fights or lineage you can see the pre-fight rating of the champ and challenger since 1994. Not often do the champs make proper top 10 defences.

Not bad, apart from Glazkov being #3 - but I guess he has kept on "winning" so no surprises there.

Just an FYI: you've got Erkan Teper listed as Erkham Tepper.
