If only fury had a real trainer from an early age! He has speed, movement, footwork, power, size and decent experience. Shame about his temperant.
Re: Fury vs Wlad
First of all let's hope it really happens and that it's held in the UK. This is a really cool match that will put boxing in the mainstream.

I hope it's in Germany. Great little trip to a great country.
Re: Fury vs Wlad
Never fought David Price when that fight was relevant some might say.Horse wrote:Like who?lillywhite14 wrote:I think there's a reason why Tyson has never faced anyone considered to possess any level of genuine power.
Re: Fury vs Wlad
I like fury, his antics will make it a fun build up. But I think wlad will win using the robot tactics that don't let boxers in. He just appears to paw it out but it packs power.
If it's in England I will be trying to get a ticket.

Re: Fury vs Wlad
Although its difficult to take someone over a dominant champion like Klitschko, more I think about it more I am inclined towards Fury win.
Klitschko
1. Orthodox jab.
2. Handspeed
3. Footspeed
4. Punching power
5. Experience
Fury
1. Height, weight and reach.
2. Southpaw jabs.
3. Punch variety.
4. Workrate.
6. Inside game.

Re: Fury vs Wlad
Do you really think Fury could employ the same sort of punch variety & workrate against Wlad as he's employed against previous level of opposition? And inside game will be pretty much useless if the fight takes place in Germany as Wlad will be allowed to clinch, hug & wrestle as usual.Tarkus wrote:Although its difficult to take someone over a dominant champion like Klitschko, more I think about it more I am inclined towards Fury win.

Re: Fury vs Wlad
Thats the thing Wlad wont be able to clinch effectively the bigger man with good inside game. I think Klitschkos best chance is to stay outside, rely on his speed and chin Fury with something similar to Pulev.

Re: Fury vs Wlad
All the comments about Wlad potentially being uncomfortable with facing someone his own size also apply to Fury. What's even worse for Fury is the guy his size hits harder, moves better, boxes better and has vast experience.
I don't think Fury has the punch to really hurt Wlad and he definitely doesn't have the skill to outbox the former Olympic champion and multiple World Champion.
It will be a great build up and Fury will entertain us all the way to it.

Re: Fury vs Wlad
Not that it matters one way or the other, but Nascimento looked at look closer to Fury's height than Firtha did to me.Horse wrote:Nicolai Firtha - 6′ 6″.handsofstone wrote:Does anyone know who the tallest opponent Fury's faced?

Now that they have both tried to uppercut themselves now it makes sense that they fight now.

Re: Fury vs Wlad
Fury has fought some fairly tall guys but they've been mediocre at best.
Cunningham, Chisora, Johnson, and Hammer (notice the lack of power) range from 6'1"-6'3" and are clearly smaller men than Wlad, so as mentioned, it's not like Wlad will be the only fighter who is unfamiliar with the combination of size and ability across the ring.

Re: Fury vs Wlad
I still don't think we've seen the best of Fury. That's the "X" factor. The logical favorite by far is Wladimir; he's faster, hits harder etc.
But I have a feeling Fury will do better than most expect.

Re: Fury vs Wlad
Imagine if Fury pulled it off - BBC Sports Personality of the year, that's a funny thought
Re: Fury vs Wlad
I think Wlad's footwork and handspeed will be the decisive factor in this fight. Fury's height and reach advantage will be taken away by these two factors alone. Expect Wlad to stop Fury in the later rounds.

Yeah he's by far a better athlete. There was a point in Fury's career where I thought he was turning a corner and heading towards getting in really good shape.
But then he let himself go and has been coming in soft for all his recent fights. It's not a body building contest but excessive amounts of body fat aren't helping anyone.
Re: Fury vs Wlad
The huge favouritw is clearly W. Klitschko, but he must oay attention, beacuse Fury has good power and good stamina.
Re: Fury vs Wlad
It's strange really, he's put in a lot of the hard work to get where he is. And yet, he's been looking less and less sharp of late.black panther wrote:Dixonian wrote:I think Wlad's footwork and handspeed will be the decisive factor in this fight. I agree Panther but I think most of us, especially on here, expect Fury to do decent and give a good account of himself in the fight?black panther wrote:I still don't think we've seen the best of Fury. That's the "X" factor. The logical favorite by far is Wladimir; he's faster, hits harder etc.

I can't see Fury giving up and we'll probably see something in the fight that will end up on a 'boxing's funniest moments' youtube video.
