Mayweather vs Pacquiao predictions

Mayweather unanimous
Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao predictions
PacMan close on points. I see Manny taking the early 3-4 rounds through his higher work-rate, and combinations but Mayweather starts to time him mid-rounds and has success while Manny slows. In championship rounds Manny maybe knocks Mayweather down but Mayweather holds on and pot shots effectively to win at least on one judges scorecard ![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao predictions
I've explained in an earlier post why I think Mayweather will win but I can make a case for Pacquiao winning too,and it all boils down to Floyd's low work rate, Manny is a buzzsaw, which is exactly how you need to be if your gonna have a chance of beating Mayweather, I wouldn't read too much into the whole Pacquiao's lost his killer instinct angle because I doubt he would have been able to KO Floyd even 5 years ago and despite Manny not getting KOs for a while, his boxing skills have still been excellent ,since the Marquez KO he hasn't dropped many rounds on my cards
Mayweather seems to be conserving his energy a lot more these days but because he's still so sharp he's still winning well although if someone as limited skills wise as Maidana can get a draw on a card through sheer aggression and pressure then someone with Manny's boxing brain and speed plus the aggression and pressure surely will win rounds, its a question if Mayweather can keep the pace along with Pacquiao
Then there's the whole Pacquiao southpaw problem........

Mayweather, but close. Bit of a chess match to start with but more exciting in the 2nd half of the fight. Points win but only 2 or 3 rounds in it. I am not going to buy this fight because I know Mayweather will win. If I believed it was a 50/50, which it isn't, I would probably buy the fight. Brook/Gavin is a better fight IMO

Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao predictions
Mayweather by KO. I can't forget the knockout Manny suffered against Marquez. I think Maidana has a harder style for Mayweather than Pacquaio and I think Mayweather will be able to hit him with combinations coming in. I certainly think that Pacquaio will hit the floor at some point.I hope I am wrong though, as he is a much nicer bloke than Mayweather.
Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao predictions
I think it will be clear, but I am not sure which way. 5 years ago I thought Mayweather would have toyed with Manny and Manny's only hope was to catch Mayweather a little carelessly and score a clean KO - and I thought those chances were between slim and none.
Now, I think Mayweather's legs have slowed more than Pacquiao's hands and I also think Mayweather isn't as quick as he used to be. Either I've overestimated Mayweather's "shotness" / underestimated Pacquiaos - and it will be similar to how I envisaged the fight would have been 5 years ago - 118-110 Mayeather..... or - Pacquiao out works the slower/older Floyd, Floyd wins some rounds based on his defence and punch picking, but Pacquiao basically does what DLH did for the early rounds in his fight with Floyd (without the fight back) and wins on work rate/aggression a close, generally clear, but some might seem slightly contentious decision 115-113 or 116-112.... some might still like the punch picking and accuracy of Floyd but I think most would agree with the verdict.
Which of these scenarios are more likely - I do not know. I cannot see this fight being a KO anyway. I have to say, watching Floyd training in his last 3 fights - Maidana x 2 and Pacquiao he looks quite a bit slower than watching him train vs Hatton and the like.

Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao predictions
Neither guy particularly good fighting on the inside ,although Mayweather is more effective at nullifying up close,I think everyone can agree Pacquiao need to launch his attacks in bursts darting in and out and frequently otherwise he'll be picked off
I've just watched The Brawl in Montreal again there, what's the chances of Mayweather doing a Leonard and surprising everyone by brawling

Mayweather all day.
This will be one of those fights where we look back after and feel sick that we didn't lump on the 1/2.

Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao predictions
I know there's been a few threads on this already, but I can't believe how quiet & low-key the build-up has been to this fight. Seemed like everyone was buzzing when it first got announced, all the guys in my work were talking about it constantly, all the casuals were posting on Facebook about it, but most of em seem to have forgotten it's even on, they certainly don't remember it's happening this weekend as I have to keep reminding them!
I know we all realise that Mayweather & Manny should have boxed about 5 years ago, but even so, it's still a genuinely huge fight...Sky hyped up Bellew v Cleverly 2 more than this fight FFS!![[icon_witsend.gif] :witzend:](./images/smilies/icon_witsend.gif)

Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao predictions
I'm with you on this one, it's mayweather by wide points or late ko as the only plausible outcomes. But I'm ready for some huge cluster fornicate from the judges or some controversy over a stoppage.Terry Dooley wrote:Mayweather by a wide UD or body shot induced stoppage, as he works well to the body. In all likelihood, the judges will get it completely wrong and we’ll have months of “Boxing, it’s just a big fix isn’t it?” from armchair experts.
It’s a big event, the people involved will find a way to f*ck it up to buggery.
Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao predictions
Mayweather 115 - 113 Pacquiao
7 rounds to mayweather, 4 to Pacquiao including a knockdown and one scored level.
Pacquiao to come out really fast and pick up the first couple on work rate, with Mayweather easing his way into the fight and starting to find some success towards the end of the second.
Mayweather to outbox Pacquiao for most of the mid-section of the fight, particularly from around the 6th onward where Pacuiao starts to lag a little having been made to miss a lot and mayweather denting his confidence a little with stinging counters.
the last 2 or 3 round, Mayweather slows a little having been made to work harder than he is used to, the counter not so sharp and the legs not as mobile, Pacquiao starts to find a bit more success and the start trading a bit more, Pacuiao realising he has to turn round a fairly wide points deficit, throws the kitchen sink at him and takes the last 2 grueling rounds, eventually making Mayweather touch down in the 11th but not really hurting him, but it's too little too late and Pacquiao lacks the sting in his punches to capitalise. Taking the last 2 rounds 10-8 & 10-9 closes the scoring a little and gets the crowd really into this compelling match
after the scorecards are read out Mayweather tells the crowd he'd happily do it all again then Tyson Fury comes in and sings "I will always love you" by Whitney Houston

Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao predictions
I think mayweather will pick manny off, not with ease but he will have his number by around round 6. Maybe a bit like the DLH fight where he toyed the final rounds as Oscar tired. I can see that happening.
DLH said something on the legends programme on YouTube that mayweather can't defend a left jab, and the people with most success have had with the jab, and reckons manny with the southpaw stance will cause problems wht that left straight. Oscar reckons floyd doesn't pick tem up well.
I'm not sure but it certainly was what was getting him success. Maybe that's the key, lots of left straights from manny.

Can't pick my prediction in the poll.
I had a dream two weeks ago that Pacquiao got DQ in the 5th round controversially. The fight was rescheduled and Floyd won on points.

Some people say the craziest things. Brook/Gavin better than Money/Manny. jeez.WildWaylon wrote:Mayweather, but close. Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao predictions
Manny Pac win by a very harsh DQ, following a series of debateable low punches by Mayweather, leading to a rematch.
Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao predictions
It will be a draw

He can bob and weave and find his way to the inside like nobody's business can the little fella tho! Many's the time Freddy just ends up trapped on the.ropes with nowhere to go...187 wrote:I'm pulling my bleeding hair out over the amount of casual fan friends I've got that are predicting a pacquiao KO, about 90% of them and they won't listen because "manny is proper fired up for this one" lol

Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao predictions
The chances of a KO for either guy is pretty slim but for some reason I keep thinking about Hatton getting countered when steaming in against Mayweather and I can visualise Pacquiao being tagged the same way,Not as much as I can visualize Floyd winning on points but it wouldn't be the most shocking thing I'd have seen in a ring
Maidana gave it a good go,especially the first fight but Alvarez and Guerrero were too cautious and gave Mayweather too much respect,if Manny's struggling to figure out Floyd, you know he won't be content to just plod on doing the same thing like those guys

Like most I've been pretty underwhelmed by the build up and the lack of hype the last few weeks but I've gotta say I'm pretty excited now, especially with it being fight week and Vegas being buzzing
Can't wait

Its interestong to compare results between this poll and the one SecondsOut are running on their website.
After nearly 140 votes, the poll on here has 78% predicting Mayweather will win with only 20% going for Manny, thats almost 4 out of 5 going for Floyd, a bit of a landslide so to speak. Over on SecondsOut their poll has been running for at least a few days, i presume it gets a lot of voters, 53% tip Mayweather, 45% tip Manny, thats an awful lot closer than we have it.

Mayweather by TKO in the second half. Even-stevens for the first few, but Manny's batteries'll run out sooner if Floyd can hustle him.
