Jack Groves

Post by Taansend »

Am I right in thinking that Jack has to defend against Groves within 90 days?

If so, does Jack have any promotional clout behind him? Where's the most likely place the fight will end up, Germany?

Cheers

I wondered this myself.
When I saw that Jack had won, I wondered if it would have jeopardised Groves shot.

Jack was quoted as saying he wants Grove next however. So he should get his chance whether he is mandatory or not.

I don't know a lot about Jack.
Is he more or less beatable than Dirrell might have been?

How big is Mayweather promotions?
It may seem like a stupid question given the company's name, but other than Floyd himself, they have no real stars.
Are they likely to outbid Sauerland? Given Sauerland's huge tv deal in Germany and Groves selling power in the UK I can see the fight taking place in London

London would be good, would be great to see Groves win the title at the O2.

Groves would surely stop Jack pretty early, I'm not sure Badou would even handle what George dished out to Johnson and Sierra,I scored last night a draw but no doubt Dirrell was disappointing, he went out with a whimper

In the same way everyone said Dirrell would stop him quick like that was a formality?

I tipped Dirrell to KO Jack early myself but like most I thought Anthony would let his hands go,he started off OK but even when winning rounds he was going through the motions,I don't know if he was injured because he was throwing with both hands but never really let the power punches go,then he was switching to lefty in 10 second bursts, very strange performance from Dirrell and disappointing

Credit to Jack though the rounds he won we're clearer than Dirrell's

I think Groves deserves to be the favorite but based on his last two fights I don't see him beating Jack as a formality.

Jack did get blown out by a mediocre opponent but perhaps he got caught cold and the loss was anamolous? Is the guy that beat Jack better or a much harder puncher than Dirrell?

I think Groves is too strong and hits too hard for Jack and still has massive self belief despite the Froch KO,a lot of boxers understandibly put on a front after suffering such a concussive loss but George strikes me as someone who is mentally strong and can still go on to win at the top level, and I'm pretty sure Groves will look to do real damage on Jack

Groves was dire last time out against Douglin but I thought he boxed well against Rebrasse

Come forward fighter but with poor defence. Groves would exploit that and take him out early. Dirrell would beat Jack in a rematch. He just wasn't on form last night.

I think Jacks a decent fighter he put up a good performance last night vs Dirrell who may not have been at his best but his best can't be a lot better anyway.

People are basing Groves to beat him easily either because he was stopped early in his defeat or because he beat Dirrell who was sh!t on the night.

Could turn out to be a good fight.

I do think Groves beats him relatively comfortably, not blasting him out but I didn't see anything from Jack to trouble Groves too much. He's just a come-forward fighter with average strength and speed.

I bet Groves must be loving the fact that Jack won, especially given Dirrell's relucatance to fight him let alone travel, and certainly validates not taking the DeGale fight at this stage imo. Should be able to get the fight over here, then a win gives him a massive amount of options, even if he just opts to defend against Anthony Dirrell and then take it from there.

I'm sure Jack has to defend against Groves next up. The WBC let Dirrell defend against Jack originally on compassionate grounds so fairs fair. Jack is with TMT and there is obviously money there but how much of it they are willing to put behind Jack remains to be seen. Groves hasn't looked himself since the two Froch defeats and that is understandable but I would fancy him strongly against Jack to take the title and get his confidence back. All going well we could be looking at a Groves v DeGale unification later in the year/early next year.

One thing im feeling is that Bodou Jack will not be shy of coming to England..... Whats Groves current promotional position ? is he still a lone wolf ?

If so expect Groves vs Jack on a allegedly show and screened on allegedly, due to Jack having an excellent relationship with Warrens Matchmaker Jason McClory, who was his manager when he first turned pro over in sweded before Jason Returned to live in England.

Thats a good point but Groves is technically with Sauerland Promotions, who screen some of their fights on SkySports with this new deal.

I would be surprised if Sky would be outbid for this one, as if Groves wins then we are looking at him take on DeGale at some point, which would be heavily penciled in as a Sky PPV date.

Mentally strong with a large helping of delusion!

Don't know too much about Jack but hope George wins wherever he fight is. If Degale manages to pull it off as well, that rematch is huge as a unification. That fight would tick every box.

One box it would not tick.... guaranteed excitement (a box Sky liked to be ticked)....... Degale vs Groves 1 was a glorified spar.
