Eubank-Sherrington Off? BJS in June?

Post by magnus »

Yesterday, there was a story on Boxing News' website about Eubank Jnr's thoughts on Mayweather-Pac. In this, he said the fight with Sherrington was off and he had been told he would be in a big contest in June.

Today, the article no longer includes anything about the Sherrington fight.

On another forum, there have been whispers that Andy Lee has an injury, and the WBO may allow BJS to fight for the "interim" title. Interim "unification" fight in June anyone?

Mixing 2 shite belts to make 1 super smelly belt

IM not really interested in a rematch just yet if I'm honest,Saunders was clear winner last time,Eubank's coming off a great stoppage over Chudinov but if a return was to be announced then I'm seriously starting to think Billy Joe's careers treading water

I'm not interested in seeing the rematch so soon after the first one either.

Isn't the whole point of an Interim title to keep the belt active while the champ is inactive, injured or otherwise?

I'd bet my life that there's been shows where there's been a title fight on and the Interim title for the same belt on the undercard, Haskins fight with Awasa is for the IBF Interim title,I wasn't even aware the IBF had Interim titles so maybe they use it for its intended purpose

The IBF DO use them for the right reason. Caballero is injured and expected to be out for 6 months, Ramirez is the inteirm at Cruiserweight waiting for Hernandez to recover form injury.

BJS seemed to suggest on twitter yesterday that negotations had been happening for the Eubank fight but had fell apart and is now moving onto the Lee fight.

Adam Booth also tweeted that talks with W-Arren were underway for the BJS v Lee fight.

At this moment I think I'd prefer BJS v Lee then maybe Eubank somewhere down the line. Bit soon after the first fight. BJS v Lee has all the ingredients of a right good fight.

I'm the same, would be better if Saunders beats Lee Saunders Eubank rematch for a genuine world title would be massive.

Yeah true. Plus I would like to see Eubank in a few more tests like the Chudinov fight before a BJS rematch. I wouldn't write Andy Lee off again though. I thought Quillin would've given him a going over but I was pretty impressed with how he came back.

I saw that, his idea at being clever.

However, that was before BJS and Adam Booths latest tweets, I expect it was going to be that date if it hadn't have gone tits up. Maybe Lee v Saunders will be that date?

According to his Twitter CEJ is on his way to Vegas, surely he would not be doing that if he was fighting next Saturday.

Take from that what you will

For me, the most interesting thing is that Eubank obviously said something that wasn't out in the public domain, which got removed from the article pretty swiftly.

If he's out, this should be confirmed asap by Queensbury.

As should Matchroom if the Yafai fight is off (in the interests of fairness). May 9th is turning out to be a bit shit innit?

True! It's all about selling tickets though! Feck keeping the fans informed! Birmingham next week is pretty poor! Hopefully Burns and McDonnell can make a decent go of their fights.

Confirmed Eubank and BJS off the bill - with Lee injured can only mean one thing, summer rematch between these two for the interim title - double interim titles presumably.

The number of bills from both promoters falling to pieces lately is very damaging for the sport IMO.
