Pac is just too small to win this one. Too many physical advantages to overcome against a guy who is bigger and also brilliant.

I can imagine a scenario where Pac simply Calzaghes him...throwing lots of leather and while not landing many clean shots he wins on workrate...as long as he stays on his feet.

But I think that's a 1 in 5 result.

It feels a little like Whittaker-Chavez... Lots of hype but the aggressive guy is the smaller guy. The bigger man is a defensive genius.

I so want to be wrong.

I spoke to a man today who said, ' You do know there'll be a rematch in September?' I can see a controversial and unpopular points win setting up the maybe, even bigger, rematch - Vegas is money crazy and what's best for Vegas is what'll happen.

Is anyone else torn between the two? Iv always said floyd would beat pacman and i put floyd by wide points but as it gets closer im beginning to change my mind. All the pundits saying floyd is too big floyd is too clever blah blah blah but didnt we hear this with dlh and margarito,i know they arnt mayweather but iv bet against pacman before and had my eye wiped im just thinkin "could he put floyd to kip?" Its possible and the more i see him he just looks so relaxed and ready, can floyd handle the speed and aggression of a man who doesnt care what ur gonna throw at him as long as he gets his shots off, which will hurt floyd more than floyd hurts him?.

Funnily enough, quite a few of my casual fan friends are predicting an early KO win for Mayweather as he'll want to set the record straight so will "come out throwing bombs".

Still think Maidana beat Mayweather in the first but anyway...

I can't see Pacquiao getting up that close for so long. He's more in and out and that's what Roach has been talking about. Hopefully volume and aggression win at the end of a captivating 12 rounds, rather than high percentage accuracy defensive work with lower volume.

I believe deep down TBE fears PACMAN style not just the aggressive PACMAN it's the angle's and speed/power combination's flying everywhere style that some-what less talented fighter like MAIDANA/ORTIZ could not keep up for the duration of most of the round's with PACMAN DIFFERENT KETTLE OF FISH......................................................................PACMAN TO TKO MAYWEATHER IN ROUND 9............. :yay:

Mayweather by decision in a competitive fight.

That said, a rematch, which I think is most likely to happen if Manny wins, would probably be the next most lucrative fight in combat sports and I won't be surprised if Manny wins a controversial decision if it's reasonably close.

Surprised by the poll results, 80% picking Floyd

Pacman is going to be so up for this fight. He will beat Floyd to the punch all night and beat him decisively, don't think he will get the stoppage though.. Expect Floyd will get frustrated after falling behind on the cards and start throwing in some roughhouse tactics/elbows and alsorts to make it go 12. Just hope Pacquiao doesn't get screwed on the cards as he did with Bradley..

i always had a vision of this fight as Mayweather sitting on ropes and pacman in and out and it being very close.
as the weeks went on im very much thinking mayweather will stand tall and strong in centre and block Pacs attacks much like he did Marquez and win rounds with much cleaner shots catching pacquio.

that said that was mayweather 6 years ago but thats my thinking now.

Im a big Pacman fan but may the best man win and deserve it and no controversy please. :box:

Floyd can;t get off the ropes, he's not going to be sharp enough to slip Pacquiao for 12 rounds either, this isn't Maidana or Canelo he's fighting. I think Pacquiao wide, some close rounds will go Floyd's way as they always do by virtue of him being Floyd but I think something like 9-3 Pacquiao. If Floyd's legs are as bad as they were in Maidana 1 he might get stopped on the ropes.

I’m still hoping Manny & Floyd can figure out a way to settle their differences without fighting.

If it's close, surely they'll give it to Floyd. Playing the long game, 50-0 has got to be the target and a huge Vegas send off for Floyd.

My heart says manny, because of his handspeed, power, unusual angles etc and because I think in the maidana fight we saw floyd cut, look leggy and despite his bitching maidana was catching floyd.

My head says floyd who is bigger, has a better defence and will try to shoulder roll manny before countering, I think floyds check hook may will be used, will it see a repeat of the hatton head first into the corner possibly not.

If the odds weren't so poor id be going floyd decsion

Who is they?

The judges fill in their score cards round by round - they don't get to the 12th and go 'whew, that was close - we'd better give it to Floyd.'

I think it's quite possible that it will be hard to score, as it will be Pacquaio's aggression and volume, against Mayweather's sharp shooting, the judges may well disagree on who won the fight.

If the judges are swayed by financial considerations I think they'll probably attempt to score it in a way that maximizes the chances of the next most lucrative fight in boxing, which is a rematch. I think a rematch would be generally more appealing to people if Pac, the underdog, pulls an upset, and certain comments Floyd has made lead me to believe that if he wins he'd be less likely to offer a rematch than Pac would be if he won. Perhaps if Floyd loses he'll also be less likely to retire after 50 bouts (which would only be 2 more trips to the ring after Saturday), and extra fights could mitigate revenue losses on fights he'd have without an unbeaten record.

 :TU:

Manny is going to outwork Floyd, I'm sure of it. Mayweather is going to look old here. He has slowed down for sure and his output just isn't enough to keep up.

Once more some people are getting waaay too caught up in the size thing. It's inconsequential here. This isn't the type of style matchup where size has a huge advantage. Pac/Cotto, on paper, was, but looked how that turned out (although Pac was...how shall we say...full of beans in that one, and not the same fighter today). Floyd won't be relying on his physical strength in there and he doesn't have the power to bother Pac. Pac is better than Maidana in every way save a few irrelevant advantages. He will press the action and simply land more. Scrappy, maybe, but effective and running out the winner 116/112 or so.

lol. :TU:

For all his strengths one weakness Pac does have in his game is that he gets hit, he can be open and does take shots. Floyd is still lightning fast with his pot shotting and I see him tagging Pac repeatedly. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see Pac on the deck early.

Aside from a few flurries I think it'll be the normal procession, Mayweather disarms opponents who think they're going to overwhelm him and leaves them following him around the ring eating pot shots and getting tied up when they get close. At the end Pac's face will be marked up and cut and May will barely have a scratch on him.

Purists will appreciate the skill and think May won handily, Pac fanatics will call him a coward for not standing and trading and claim Pac was robbed.

Its not a fight with two fighters in their prime. Both have slowed down through age and miles on the clock. They are still in the elite though especially Mayweather who I am certain will win by a narrow points margin. Its been a good while since either fighter won by KO and I very much doubt it will happen that way. I am going to give this fight a miss, its not a must see, as far as I am concerned.

We might be pleasantly surprised, it may have more action than we feared; we all imagined that the Ruslan v Matthyse bout would be a shootout and it wasn't.

I'm predicting a Mayweather point victory.
But I'd love to see a Pacquaio stoppage.

If somebody held a gun to my head and asked me to pick for my life, I'd probably say Mayweather; however, here, I'm going to pick Pacquiao. I actually think he can do it. I think he'll have too much offensive variety for the human boxing computer to assess by the middle round like he normally does, i think that there were signs against Maidana, Guererro and Cotto that Mayweather is more reachable than he was (because his legs are going), and that against Cotto, he was forced to throw far more than he had to in the past. Finally, I just think that there's something about Mayweather that suggests to me that he isn't quite as supremely confident for this as he has been in the past; I suspect that he was forced into this fight by Showtime.

I think that Pacquiao will be busier in enough rounds to score a close, enthralling highly competitive split or majority decision.
