Any exciting exchanges at all?

I thought Loma was impressive. He totally outclassed his opponent and outlanded him 37-3 and 48-4 in different rounds. He put his punches together well, showed good offensive variety, and displayed the excellent movement and pivots that bamboozled Russell. He also punched more in clinches and didn't let himself get roughed up as he was against Salido; as he suggested tonight, he learned from that fight. The main thing I'd like to see him do is put more on his shots, but generally I think he's looked good.Badhusker wrote:Lomo not impressive, his opponent less impressive.

The LSC fight was tedious and at various points I was hoping that it would be over with as soon as possible. LSC was not impressive and was getting hit a fair bit considering his opponent's level, while I also wonder if his power will be significantly less effective at 126. It's been several mediocre opponents in a row so hopefully the Mares fight is next and LSC gets back on form. Credit to his opponent, who showed impressive durability and heart; as the commentary suggested, he seems like a good test for prospects.
I had Manny-Floyd 117-111, but I have no problem with any of the cards. Floyd made it his fight and Manny didn't have the output to trouble him much apart from the 4th and the 6th.
Once Manny and Floyd are out of the picture, it will become the ra of Lomenchanko, Crawford, 3G (for however long til he's retired), and Kovalev.crusader wrote:Wilder era?Spreadking wrote:Roach will claim they over trained. Let's move on to the Wilder era.
He's beaten one top ten opponent...hardly the type of stuff that suggests he'll have his own era.
They sing the Mexican national anthem because it's Cinco de Mayo weekend. It matters to the majority of boxing supporters in the US, the promoters and fighters like Floyd. The biggest fights in boxing for the last 22 years have been on Cinco de Mayo and Mexican Independence Day,Evander wrote:Why did they just sing the Mexican national anthem, neither of the main event fighters are Mexican.
Can we have the British or Canadian Anthem too please, I can play both of them with a flute like they did at Mayweather v Maidana 2.
Ok Jamie Fox just sang the American one and the Philippine one is finished.
Here we go.
Don't take it to seriously it was only a joke and a segway into the Maidana anthem played on a flute.Aftermath wrote:They sing the Mexican national anthem because it's Cinco de Mayo weekend. September 16th. Mexicans are the largest supporters of boxing in the US. They'll sing the Mexican national anthem again at next year's big fight on this same weekend regardless of who's fighting, no matter what you think.
walshb wrote:A stinker of a fight and IMO could have went to either man. One of the weakest offensive outputs from both men. Tag boxing it was like. Floyd was the least impressive. The natural WW and bigger man and he still couldn't stamp his authority on the fight? Did Floyd even try to work inside when the opportunity presented itself?
Mayweather gets far too much credit for defending. It's not even defense/offense, it's just plain defending. To me that doesn't deserve all that much credit.
