Anyone else notice Michael Buffers scary voice when he was going to announce the winner? Then Jimmy Lennon Jr takes over Rotfl!

I don't think it was a black eye for the sport.
I think it was a black eye for the trend of the super high priced PPV, which I'm cool with.
With more and more decent to good cards becoming available on TV, and PPVs in most combat sports disappointing the purchasers these days.
When one side of a mega fight has a non fan friendly style, juxtaposed to the ultra fan friendly 'fighter' style, the idea should be that you're purchasing one out of two kinds of fights. A probably not entertaining boxing lesson (which we got), or the fighter solves the puzzle and aces the lesson in dramatic fashion.
And anytime I see fighters get paid what these guys got, I just have to love it.
Fighters deserve the lion's share of what their almost guaranteed self destruction for my entertainment, generates.
Now they should both hurry and retire because the last 5 years have been hell to endure when it came to trying to discuss boxing- even boxing not involving those 2.

This tells me he out boxed him.....out fought him and controlled the whole fight with ring generalship.

These 2 r too high level to fight like ruslan...or ward or gatti or mattyse. Hit and dont get hit.

True. Floyd sticks and moves and counters and avoid getting hit because he can. It seems to me it would be foolish of him to lay on the ropes like he did in the first Maidana fight. That was a stupid strategy by Floyd. Maybe Guerrero was right - that Floyd was sandbagging that fight to set up a second bout that he knew he could win easily.
It was up to Manny to force the fight, and he wasn't good enough to do it. Roach criticizes fighters for not knowing how to cut off the ring, but apparently hasn't taught Manny either.

Has Roach said anything yet? Floyd was too much of everything, far too smart and solid, he wasn't really bothered about the southpaw stance or the quickness of Manny - he boxed to a plan and won easily, he was a level above.

As usual some current boxing fans are the #1 reason we have a hard time making NEW boxing fans.

If the Super Bowl or any NFL game is a lop-sided and relatively boring affair NFL fans don't whine like stuck pigs.
MLB and NBA fans don't piss and moan about one sided games or playoff series.
Tennis fans don't complain about the "big four" or Serena blasting out the competition.

Boxing fans?

If ANY fight is not EXACTLY what they wanted with the scorecards being an EXACT match for their holy grail scorecard they scream long and loud to the whole world about how bad it was for boxing.

I really hope you hardcore "fans" don't act like this when talking boxing in front of "casual" fans.

Note I said SOME boxing fans not all boxing fans.

All through the Manny camp they knew that they'd have to close Floyd down and put a lot of pressure on and with a high workrate, they knew that Floyd would not march straight up and engage. Floyd hit Manny too hard and too precisely for him to gamble on being caught stepping in, Manny said that they had game plan A,B and C and when it came too it they didn't or Floyd made it too risky and difficult for him to attempt them. Floyd won the bout easily.

That's because all those sports don't charge $100 to watch. When something is free it's hard to complain about it.

exactly.

now the press con, where pac is reveiling he had shoulder problems, i mean wtf. fans waited 5 years, a week or month later for the fight until manny was 100 % would have been fine for me.

arum saying:"athletes always fight hurt", no they do not, if it wasnt so, they wouldnt showcase what they can showcase.

as far as the fight goes

Floyd out-boxed Manny. It was a boring fight, but it's Manny's fault that he wasn't active enough and didn't move enough to cut the ring.
We knew what Floyd is. He was the same Floyd as before. Manny on the other hand did not look like himself.

An event of this size couldn't easily be postponed a week or a month.

Boxers do regularly box with injuries, there's be fewer bouts if every boxer were 100% going in.

There didn't seem to be much wrong with Manny's shoulder when he threw punches, the problem was he couldn't get into a good position to throw combinations - that was because of Floyd's ring generalship.

Yep. To punch may pac had to leave himself open. Every time pac landed cleanly he did hurt may imo and won 4-5 rounds, but floyd controlled most of the action.
Boring fight in the end. Great skill by may. Cant blame pac for not rushing in and risking getting ko'd. Id still see another fight at least these 2 can compete with each other but yes it was an anti climax.

Really ?

Where's the blame directed at a much heavier opponent systematically clinching each time Manny got close to him ?

Then circling the ring in all directions and refusing to engage.

Where is it written that Pac had to be the one trying to make the fight, but not Floyd ?

Are u kidding me how can we ever blame floyd for a boring fight.

It just can't possibly be his fault.

exactly what kid and everybody with a litle bit of sense says.

in a fight of this magnitude both should bring it for action.

manny at least tried 60 % to bring some action, making some combos, chasing floyd, pushing action at times

floyd, i mean this was basicly refusal to work
