Mayweather vs GGG ???
Mayweather vs GGG ???
Considering Mayweather is so absolutely dominant in his division, does a Mayweather-GGG match make any sense?
I thought of asking this as a poll question, but instead I'll just throw out the possiblities.
A) The catch weight could be the Jr. middleweight division, 154. Sorry I hate Saying" super" regarding a division.
B) Another catch weight.
c) No catch weight as the weights would only be an approximate 8 pound difference, 160 to 152.
D) Or tell me if you think the idea is so stupid because GGG is "so much bigger."

The idea is D) stupid because no way is Floyd going to risk his undefeated record against Triple G unless he can make him drain down to a weight Triple G will be dead at.
Re: Mayweather vs GGG ???
I have no idea why Floyd would want to go anywhere near GGG. Besides, he can get the lineal middleweight title beating a guy he's already beaten, rather than run the risk of getting abused by GGG.... The only time anyone would criticise Floyd for not fighting GGG is if he moved up to fight/ beat Cotto then sat on the lineal middleweight title avoiding GGG.
EDIT: I didn't notice you said the fight should be at 154, but I don't think it matters, because I highly doubt GGG could make 154.

God forbid a Big Fight is made where the winner is uncertain. I don't think it will happen either, but it should happen, and I think Mayweather would have a decent shot at winning. But unfortunately you're right, If Mayweather can make about 180 million against an almost sure win, why should he risk it?
Boxing can be pathetic.

No, it should not happen. Yes, the idea is stupid.Tony1244 wrote:Baby Face Finster wrote:The idea is D) stupid because no way is Floyd going to risk his undefeated record against Triple G unless he can make him drain down to a weight Triple G will be dead at.

FMJ should give Thurman or Brook an opportunity in September and retire.

Ward? Kovalev?
Come on Floyd, actually fight someone already. Maybe Huck?

Re: Mayweather vs GGG ???
Don't think its a stupid suggestion if Floyd wanted to go out with the maximum bang to shut absolutely every hater up. At the same time, I don't think he needs to, his legacy is well cemented and as much as I don't care for him, I think he has proven his greatness.
Thurman would be interesting, though I don't see him winning.
If Kirkland beat Canelo (not likely) he would make for a fun match, since it would be Floyd basically fighting a grizzly bear.
If Crawford and Garcia would fight creating a p4p lineal champ at 140, that winner could be suitable.
I'd pay to see Floyd snuff out his protege Adrien Broner out.

What "Issue" was that??fergusg wrote:The Haymon/Showtime vs. HBO issue that delayed the Mayweather-Pacquiao contest, also exist with a potential Golovkin bout.
GGG isn’t a big name, so there’s no financial incentive for these obstacles to be overcome, which means the bout isn’t happening anytime soon.
To be honest, I believe that the prospect of a contest between Golovkin & Mayweather is utterly preposterous, due to discrepancy between the age and size of both participants. It’s not even worth considering!
The thing is… the anti-Mayweather brigade are so passionate about seeing their long-term nemesis lose, is that Floyd will inevitably be accused of being a “duck” when this fight almost certainly fails to materialise!
When Floyd retires, instead of appreciating his skills, his haters will instead labour over the point that he didn’t face Golovkin!
Imagine if Floyd actually fought and defeated GGG, would Mayweather still be accused of being a duck if he didn’t share the ring with the likes of Sergey Kovalev or Wladimir Klitschko?

Re: Mayweather vs GGG ???
Honestly it makes a lot of sense to me. Mayweather has fought 154 before and GGG has already stated in the past that he'd cut to 154 if it meant a fight with Mayweather. That being said, i don't think Mayweather wants that kind of risk in his last fight so he'll probably just school Amir Khan or somebody.

You haven't done a very good job explaining why it is stupid. Unlikely yes. Huge ego-gamble for Mayweather that he is unlikely to take yes. It sure would sell a lot of tickets. And if Mayweather is an all-time P4P, the extra 13 LBS could be overcome. Monzon-Napoles and Ali-Foster occurred. True, the bigger guy won, but people made money, and Naples and Foster are still considered great fighters.

I do think there 's some difference between the #13 and the #73.
Who is GGG going to fight? Lee? Quillin? Thrilling. Mayweather could beat those 2 in his sleep

I wouldn't hold my breath. I remember him getting into an argument with someone and stating several times that he was done with this forumTanzio wrote:Is that a promise?Chepppaaa wrote:no more floyd fans, iam done
That was at least a year ago, if not significantly more. If anything, the guy seems to have doubled down on posting his inane observations.

So, it would be a good idea if Mayweather had the balls to do it?
You guys wouldn't happen to be bitter because you were dumb enough to buy this?

I've never paid for a PPV in my life. The idea is dumb because if Floyd wants to retire undefeated there is no way he is going within 100 feet of Triple G unless he can get him to drop so much weight that he would be a dead man at the weight.Tony1244 wrote:ClivePatrickLyons wrote:Thanks Baby Face Finster for saving me 5 minute's of my life by typing it for me......Baby Face Finster wrote:The idea is D) stupid because no way is Floyd going to risk his undefeated record against Triple G unless he can make him drain down to a weight Triple G will be dead at.

I'd love to see Triple G get a shot at Mayweather but not if he has to drop down below 154.
Re: Mayweather vs GGG ???
It's funny, I remember reading this same quote when Floyd faced Mosley, Manny and a few others. He doesn't need 3G, 3G needs him. Besides 3G hasn't even settled debts with people who called him out at MW (Lara, Dirrel and Ward at SMW), not to mention he hasn't beaten anyone at or near the P4P like Mayweather has.Baby Face Finster wrote:I've never paid for a PPV in my life. Try again with y'all hater posts because this one failed miserably. Maybe Manny should fight Triple G, then the winner gets Floyd.

Brut, where is your objectivity you talk about so much ? At 154, is there a more dangerous opponent than GGG ? If not, what is so wrong with Floyd fighting him ?KBB wrote:It's funny, I remember reading this same quote when Floyd faced Mosley, Manny and a few others. He doesn't need 3G, 3G needs him. Simple, FMJ doesn't fight above the 152lb class.ikorolev wrote:Brut, where is your objectivity you talk about so much ? At 154, is there a more dangerous opponent than GGG ?
