Floyd lost the fight because he no offence. To see such a great fighters like Floyd and Hopkins stink tge joint out is such a waste of talent. Floyd hit a bit of a grove in 11 and 12 but 1 thro 10 I was hard pushed to give him anything. Defensive makes up 1 of 4 criteria. Floyd really stunk the place out and was visibly shook in any meaningful exchange.

Floyd Mayweather is a boxer. Did you not know this or were you genuinely expecting a Gatti-Ward type fight?

FFS!
Ray Robinson, Ray Leonard, and Jose Napoles were great "boxers" as well, but somehow they also were able to have some offensive moments and occasionally hurt and even stop their opponents.

The truly "best evers" can do both.

i mean, for me..

clinching or leaninig over, or excessive hugging should result in warnings and than point deductions, therefore on my scorecards floyd lost easily 1 or 2 rounds just on the simple fact of point deduction.

but i understand what you mean, being totaly defensive and just running around should be scored as minus, i mean, hy we are in a fight business, its boxing, no damn god olympic running discipline

Hundredth time he threw more...landed more...landed at higher percentage. Landed more jabs landed more powers shots. He did a little more than run.

He neutralized his opponent and did enough to win. He did what he always does and like always it was anything but entertaining. You can argue till you're blue in the face but most people find him very boring to watch.

No they can't. All fighters adopt a strategy that employs their strengths. They don't randomly abandon their natural habitat for no apparent reason whatsoever.

Follow the sport more closely and you'll realise that I'm right.

shut up.

roy was defensive, leonard was defensive, but sometimes they brought in action, they brought in 15 punch combos like roy did on hall or leonard with so many guys.

you say: They don't randomly abandon their natural habitat for no apparent reason whatsoever.

i say: floyd had a reason, he was winning on on point and controlling pac and he should have done something to hurt pac, i am not saying that he shouldve got into pac with 0 defence and just punching wild and reckless, but he should at least try to hurt him after technicly outboxing him. that is what he should have done had he had the slightest of respect for the 3 million people who bought that shi&/t, but no, no respect for that egomaniac

tyson, leonard, robinson, jones, trinidad, they were all able to mix great boxing with action, some more like trinidad, some less like jones, but they all at least tried. floyd doesnt even try to make it fun, when you dominate a guy, than you have to at least once try to buggle him.

Boring fight in the end. Great skill by may. Cant blame pac for not rushing in and risking getting ko'd.
Really ?

Where's the blame directed at a much heavier opponent systematically clinching each time Manny got close to him ?

Then circling the ring in all directions and refusing to engage.

Where is it written that Pac had to be the one trying to make the fight, but not Floyd ?
Because we all know what to expect from floyd coming in. We knew manny had to make the fight by cutting of the ring and outworking floyd. But he didnt. He seemed a little too cautious of leaving himself open and getting caught like how Marquez did. In the end, floyd did floyd and did just enough to win comfortably although boring. Manny should have let his hands go and moved around more.

I agree. This was supposed to be a SuperFight? These guys stole the spotlight of boxing for the last 6 years, and this was supposed to be an epic fight.... I know some people who think they are legit "homies" with Floyd will hate what I have to say, but truth be told, I'm even more disappointed in Pacquiao. It was clear he was losing the fight, he supposedly had an injury, but instead of pretending you won the right, why not go ballz out? That's what you are supposedly good at. But he seemed scared of getting knocked down like he did against Marquez.

It was clear as day this was going to happen, but I still fell for it. Pacquiao accepted all the demands (Location, 65-35 split, ref, drug testing etc.). They seemed pretty fckin friendly in the ring. I saw Manny's weight on fight night, but didn't see Mayweathers. And I heard rumors that Mayweather didn't do the drug testing like Manny did. I'm not saying Mayweather did drugs lol, just saying he should take as much drug testing as Manny did.

This fight should've happened 5 years ago. I know Manny is technically younger, but age is only a number. Mileage is what matters. Manny turned pro at 16 in the Philippines probably fighting on a piece of bread and water, was in more wars. Mayweather is even better now in some ways.

They both won, we lost. Screw them both.

exactly.

we waited 5 years. manny should have come into the ring with 0 injury, this is his job. he couldve said, i am not perfectly fine, i wanna give the fans a manny in tip top shape, lets make the fight in 2 weekls. we waited 5 years, so it doesnt come down to 1, 2 or 3 weeks of another waiting, postponing the fight.

3 million people bought that shit and you come into the fight with a shoulder injury, screw pacquiao and yes, he shouldbe done more and go all out and just wreck. stupid roach, he should have told pac to do the war mode, not the thinking mode, you never outthink floyd in the ring, unless you are prime leonard or so.

very bad taste for boxing. it basicly says "you win fights by running and hugging and occasionaly throwing a jab"

He outlanded Manny almost 2 to 1 with an 18 punch edge in powershots.

You want to blame someone for a boring fight, blame the offensive machine offending us all with no offense.

You must be an idiot if you dont think there have been fighters who were great technicians but also hurt and finished their opponents.

And those fighters will always be viewed more favorably than ones who werent able to do both.
And Ive been following boxing since the 70s, so I dont need any lesson from you.

Did you know that the main ethos of the sport of boxing is "hit and not get hit"?

If not, there are some good boxing websites I can recommend!

It's good to have a new follower of the sport of boxing, so newbies like you are always welcome here, but I'd advise you to refain from using silly words like "disgusting", until you've learned the basics. :TU:

Brilliant exhibition by Floyd. Did what expected him to do and Manny had no answers. Definitely not a disgusting display of "BOXING"by the best pound for pound fighter in the world.

Everything you say is redundant. You're actually blaming Floyd for a "boring" fight but all he did was employ the most effective strategy to coast to a lop-sided victory.

Why doesn't anyone criticise Manny for throwing fewer shots than Floyd or for failing to even make an attempt to win the fight by altering his gameplan?[/quote

Who do I blame Manny for making Floyd run i'm stating what is fact Camacho Sr got called a fu..ing Runner by fighting the same way Floyd
fought last night period do some research :geek2: :geek2: :geek2: :geek2: :geek2: :geek2: :geek2:

There's at least one instance of PAC hurting Floyd; can anyone show Floyd visibly hurting Manny ?

How many Floyd fans were predicting target practice for Floyd after 6 rds ?

Manny ended up the fight with a fresher face than the one he entered the ring.

Floyd missed more in this fight than in all his last 5 fights combined.

Open both eyes mate. Manny wasn't fresher, he didn't land more and he was hurt on occasions. Floyd may have missed more but he was fighting his greatest opponent. And he made him look second rate.

Because the common denominator here is Floyd, or is it always the other guy's fault? Manny has been in many great action packed fights, Floyd has stunk the house out on most occasions. When you win a fight without throwing a single 3 punch combo I know all I need to know. Note that I'm not criticizing Floyd for fighting the way he does, it's understandable, but let's not kid ourselves, it's boring to watch and the reason is Floyd.

Couldn't agree more, terrible night for boxing. Pacquiao didn't turn up and Mayweather didn't take the fight to Manny. Can't recall a single telling punch being thrown. Though the whole event was dire to be honest. Bit of a black day for boxing on what was billed as the biggest night in the sports history in the last 30 years (sigh).
