THE SWEET SCIENCE!
SO, Floyd should be battered around the head to please you? Would you take care of him in 30 years if he has issues due to a hard career?
Sit down, stop complaining and appreciate the art of Boxing.

Floyd was at his all time pussiness(i know not a word take it easy).
And Manny took no chances whatsoever.
A huge black eye for the sport tonight.
Who's the mug,Mayweather for taking over £100 million or the paying public for paying to watch a master boxer hoping he was going to completely change his style and stand in front of one of the most aggressive pressure fighters around, mmmmmm let me think.
Re: Disgusting Night for boxing
I'm loving reading all of the anger and frustration along with the HATE that Manny's fans here are having, literally these people are exploding with fits of rage and outburst of hurt.
I think all of Pacquiao's fans need to see a behavioral counselor/specialist because they have taken this loss to heart!!
You guys really need some serious help. Floyd won, get over it, your Hero lost, get over it.

butt hurt Floyd fans.
These two have the most vocal fan boys I have ever seen.

I just know it would of been the same if Pacquiao had one.
But yes Pacquiao fans have done nothing but whine.very pathetic.
Re: Disgusting Night for boxing
Just amazed at some of the responses on here.
I assume most who post here are fans of boxing so know who Mayweather is & how he fights yet it seems they expected him to turn into some wild punch throwing beast when the ring bell sounded.
He's a great boxer with a strong emphasis on defensive boxing, that's what he does & he's the best in the world.

Re: Disgusting Night for boxing
When exactly did Manny come to fight, I must have missed that whilst appreciating Mayweather's defensive masterclass. Pacman did NOTHING, other boxers have forced Mayweather into harder fights like Mosley, but Manny made no real effort to pressure Floyd which was the only way he was winning the fight.crow wrote:At least, Pac came to fight.
PBF just ran and hold.
Just felt like Manny was just grabbing some cash for his retirement & after his amazing career I don't begrudge him a cent of it. But let's not pretend that Pacman came to fight on Saturday night. He didn't change his tactics despite them clearly not working. He didn't throw enough punches. But because he's had some great fights in the past people seem blinded to this.
Re: Disgusting Night for boxing
So Manny landed less shots on him than any of Floyd's last 3 opponents and he lost.crow wrote:There's at least one instance of PAC hurting Floyd; can anyone show Floyd visibly hurting Manny ?
How many Floyd fans were predicting target practice for Floyd after 6 rds ?
Manny ended up the fight with a fresher face than the one he entered the ring.
Floyd missed more in this fight than in all his last 5 fights combined.
All you have is this thing where you talking about someone being hurt, that means nothing now does it?
Oh my bad, it's world news just to have any fighter hurt Floyd, it's a damn shame to be that good.

The sweet science is "make em miss and make em pay", my favorite style of boxing. Since moving to Welter (with the exception of Hatton), Floyd's Modus Operandi has been "makin em miss then run away"
Re: Disgusting Night for boxing
Floyd hit Manny with solid punches, he times them when coming in so the impact is doubled. If Floyd were throwing soft shots Mannybwould have ripped into range and thrown his brilliant flurries. Mayweather keeps every opponent honest, he's not my favourite boxer to watch but he is brilliant, in the same way Whittaker was brilliant.

Re: Disgusting Night for boxing
I must be the only person that enjoyed this fight. I enjoyed the undercard as well. Lomachenko performed nicely and I thought Santa Cruz had a very good night.
Both guys landed some good shots, I was excited the whole fight but I also had it scored closer than most. The only thing that bothered me about the fight was the announcers and Floyd's excessive clinching...
On Saturday May 2nd, I had it 116-112, Mayweather
Today i watched again and decided to watch it muted. Also, instead of just giving rounds - i explained why the second time around.
Today May 5th :
Round 1 - Floyd - not much action, but Floyd dictated pace and landed cleaner shots
Round 2 - Manny - close round, Manny landed solid shots on Floyd, Floyd was kept on the defensive - not by choice, also too many clinches by Floyd
Round 3 - Floyd - another close round, better shots landed by Floyd, ring generalship great by Floyd
Round 4 - Manny - great round by Manny, his best punches of the night came in this round in my opinion, aggressor of the round and solid combinations
Round 5 - Floyd - Floyd controlled the distance with the jab and dictated the pace the entire round
Round 6 - Manny - Manny had several great flurries, Manny was the aggressor of the round and effectively made Floyd stay on the run
Round 7 - Floyd - similar to round 5 Floyd controlled distance, but did it this time with great lateral movement and counter punching
Round 8 - Floyd - controlled distance, landed more precise punches
Round 9 - Manny - came on strong to push Floyd back with solid aggression, Manny much busier, Floyd clinching too often again
Round 10 - Manny - Manny is the aggressor again with several flurries, Mayweather has to resort to retreating and clinching
Round 11 - Floyd - Floyd controlled this round from beginning to end, great power punches, counters and jabs
Round 12 - Floyd - Floyd landed the cleaner shots, incredibly boring and ineffective round for both fighters - most likely due to fatigue.
115-113, Floyd "Money" Mayweather
I do believe Floyd should have been deducted a point for excessive clinching. But, even with this, Mayweather still wins - what I thought, was a closer fight than most.
Also, I tend to agree with the idea that the announcers portray Mayweather's actions as "more effective" than his opponents at times, although they may not be at that particular time.
Mayweather won in a true boxing match, not at all a slugfest like some were hoping for, but as a fan of the sport and as a fan of skill, I thoroughly enjoyed it outside of Floyd's repeated clinching.

Re: Disgusting Night for boxing
Ok, I dare anyone to re-watch round 2 in slow motion and post a clip of one single clean scoring shot for Pacquiao. Pacquiao didn't land one single scoring shot that entire round and would put my reputation on the line if anyone can debunk this claim. I'm talking a clear, scoring shot, one where you clearly see Floyds head snap back or even a clean landing body shot... I'll be waiting.

Re: Disgusting Night for boxing
Mayweather should have at least dumbed down his defense and took some shots from Manny. Ya know?? To please Manny's fans??
The butthurt regarding this fight is EPIC.

9:49 clean body shot
11:06 at least one, maybe 2 clean shots smothering Floyd
12:10 looks like 2 clean shots, hard to tell from angle of video though
12:36 2 clean shots in a flurry at the end of the round
Floyd's clinching a lot this round.
I'm not really a fan or hater of either fighter...I just enjoy greatness...Floyd won this fight for sure. But I believe the punch stats shown were possibly inaccurate.
Re: Disgusting Night for boxing
The only rounds that are up for grabs that you could even make a case that Manny "might" have won are rounds 4, 6, 10 and 12.. Pacquiaos best rounds as far as landing real scoring punches/clean punches landed are rounds 4 and 10.
In rounds 4 and 6 are the rounds Pacquiao landed his best punches, but even in round 6 Floyd landed more scoring punches than Pacquiao, but I could see giving him the round because he did land that big shot and put some nice combinations together after he clipped Floyd.
Round 12 you could give Manny, because Floyd was clearly cruising at that point and you could tell he believed he had the fight in the bag (In which he did) knowing damn well he was way ahead on the score cards and had a damn good reason to believe that.
Round 4 was Pacquiaos best round and watching the round in slow motion, Pacquiao still didn't land as many "clean" scoring punches, but the fact he landed his best punch of the fight in this round and was very aggressive (despite still missing a lot of shots) this was the most logical round to give him. I will also not that most of Pacquiaos punches landed in this round were power punches, where as most of Floyd punches landed were jabs with a couple straight right hands landing.
Round 10 was the only round where Pacquiao "clearly" out landed Floyd with "clean" scoring punches. Floyd didn't do much in this round and was actually Floyds least effective round of the entire fight.
The rest of the fight, Floyd clearly racked up way more points landing clean scoring punches, most of them being jabs and straight right hands, but he also landed some nice check hooks, looping right hooks around the guard and one very sharp uppercut. Aside from those 4 rounds I mentioned that are reasonable rounds to give to Pacquiao due to actually landing real scoring shots, Floyd controlled the fight.

With that video being cut off and the angle of most of them, there's no definitive evidence any of those punches actually landing.chapelhill41 wrote:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lHlX7I0oLUNateJR wrote:Ok, I dare anyone to re-watch round 2 in slow motion and post a clip of one single clean scoring shot for Pacquiao. Re: Disgusting Night for boxing
That's the beauty of boxing and why I enjoy it so much. Many rounds are subjective to how a person would score it themselves.
Many people could say that Floyd dictated the pace of the entire fight. I would partially agree. For example, in round 2, it seemed like Floyd was getting pushed back by Manny's aggressiveness in my opinion, not by his choice of ring generalship. Floyd resorted to clinching many times to avoid punishment in this round.
I would also agree that any score for Mayweather between 117-115 is accurate and that he won.
