Same day weigh in's would suit someone who always appears to have fought quite close to his natural weight.
15 rounds would suit a man who seems to improve as the rounds pass by and who also conserves energy well. (Does as little as possible)
Fighting regularly would suit someone who doesn't take much punishment.
Also, Im led to believe that it was more common for men to beat up their women in they days. :shame:

Would he have retired unbeaten....unlikely
Would he have been a world champion... Very likely
Would he have been competitive with every other fighter in his chosen division... very likely.

Ok, but Mosley was shot to bits when Mayweather fought him and lets not forget, there was a window of opportunity for them to fight at lightweight, whoever may be to blame for it not happening, if anyone at all, its just another fight in Mayweathers career that never happened (at the right time). In hindsight, De La Hoya was also well past his best, even if it was a big challenge at the time.

I don't agree that the era hasn't been good. It's been good enough. The fighters were out there. Timing is everything and we never got the fights when they really meant something.

A lot of that is to do with how fighters jump up and down divisions...retire and un-retire to suit themselves and who they want to fight at any given time.

There's a lot to be said for Marvin Hagler putting a stake in the ground and saying here I am, come and get me. It's why I can totally go against Wlad. It's not like he dodged anyone. Everyone has got their chance.

Mosley was coming off his second best performance of his career, in fact was considered the #1 Welter at the time of the fight.... calling Mosley "shot to bits" back then is a bit like calling Manny "shot to bits" now. Ring worn, yes - so shot that they are no long competitive at true world level... no chance.

DLH - yes, that's why I said "none in their absolutely pomp" - but name me the ATG that Hagler fought in their absolutely best. Leonard??? (nah), Duran - lets be a little serious he already not at his pomp when he at 147, let alone 160. Hearns - okay fair enough... but even Hearns was not the force at Middle that he was at Welter.

The stages and ages that Hagler fought Leonard and Duran are certainly comparable to the stages and ages Floyd fought DLH, Mosley and Manny.

Mosley was way past his prime, despite beating Margarito to a pulp; I actually think that win flattered him greatly as Margarito's head must have been not in the right place, having been caught with the plaster of paris gloves and was sleep walking onto Mosley's power punches all night. Mosley was 38 and by the time he found Mayweather, had been out of the ring 15 months. He was so much slower than the Mosley who burst onto the welterweight scene and was destroying Shannon Taylor and Adrian Stone.

Look as Mosley's balance in that fight, he was pretty much shot. For me the win does very little for Mayweather. Would have loved to have seen them fight both in their primes

I love that argument every time I see it

Haha! Come on man; you know boxing is as much mental as it is physical. Margarito was poor by usual standards that night. Mosley is the reason I got into boxing; he's by favourite fighter so I've no agenda to try and discredit him but I just call things like I see it.

The thing that always took my notice in the Margarito fight is how early Mosley got on top of him. within the first 30 seconds, Margarito missed a right hand and ended up at the wrong angle, and Mosley absolutely fvcking buriedhis right hand about a foot deep in the solar plex. hideous shot, pretty sure Marg's legs buckled a bit, one of those where you can see the fighter physically deflated by a bodyshot, and Marg giving that forced grin of the truly hurt. set the tone- that, along with Mosley smashing into him and wrestling him bodily the whole way across the ring- and Mosley never let him get any momentum or to get back in the fight.

I remember that body shot and a similar kind of wounding body shot that set the tone for the fight was landed by Leva Kirakosyan vin the 2nd bout with Carl Johansson - it didn't drop Carl but it took a lot out of him straight away.
