Wilder defends 'BC belt in Alabama June 13 v TBA
Re: Wilder defends 'BC belt in Alabama June 13 v TBA
Is this the same Eric Molina who was stopped in a round by Chris Arreola three years ago?
Arreola would be a weak opponent. Fighting Molina would suggest Wilder's team have no confidence in him.

The very same.
Re: Wilder defends 'BC belt in Alabama June 13 v TBA
By far the easiest on this list is Molina and then Arreola. Haymon will obviously choose Molina.pound per pound wrote: I am okay with Wilder fighting anyone on this list because a new champion is entitled to an easy 1st defense before taking on a real challenge. The safest pick would be De Mori ( although he can punch ), or Arreola who'd on a tail spin downward.
Best guess? Szpika, or Molina.
Wilder beat Stiverne.
Stiverne beat the sh*t out of Arreola twice, once by TKO.
Arreola Knocked Out Molina.
Molina is by far the easiest on this list.

Team Wilder never (allegedly) disappoints!
Molina is just about the worst possible opponent. I admire their consistency.

But I thought Haymon was the savior of boxing? Surely he'd ensure the debut of his "heavyweight champion" would be against someone with a pulse . .
Re: Wilder defends 'BC belt in Alabama June 13 v TBA
He has to be the worst "contender" I have ever seen. His opponent looked like he had leprosy, which didn't add much to my viewing pleasure.Datsue wrote:Can I just say at this point that I went to look up Mark De Mori & see how good he was following B-P's mention of him in this thread & now I cannot unsee the horror.
This man was entering his tenth year as a professional fighter in this bout, & is fighting a 40-something fat cruiserweight novice he outweighed by approximately two stone:

Give Pagga ten years back & he'd've done him there. De Mori makes Bob Mirovic look like a young George Foreman.

Baby steps is right. 34 fights from this "Bronze medalist" and they're still trying to spin that he's learning on the job.

Okay, I'm starting to like Wilder a bit. Sue me, he might be the the best USA heavyweight since Brewster.punchoutsb wrote:Freedom2013 wrote:Deontay Wilder's baby steps - Ring![]()

You have to give his manager credit. Has any fighter miked a bronze medal better?

Cunningham, and younger versions fo Chambers and The Tiger would have schooled the limited Brewster.

Wilder is a joke. Can you imagine the abuse (and rightly so) Wlad would get if he defended his belt against this type of opposition.punchoutsb wrote:Team Wilder never (allegedly) disappoints!

Re: Wilder defends 'BC belt in Alabama June 13 v TBA
He's been boxing for a decade, fought several of the best amateurs in the world before turning pro, and has had 33 pro fights over roughly 7 years. The idea that he still needs 'baby steps' against someone like Molina, who will likely be stopped very quickly as he was against Arreola, is laughable and makes me question if his team knows of weaknesses that preclude them from having much confidence in him.punchoutsb wrote:Freedom2013 wrote:Deontay Wilder's baby steps - Ring![]()

They definitely know. Molina will not see the second round. He's already been knocked out twice in the first round.crusader wrote:He's been boxing for a decade, fought several of the best amateurs in the world before turning pro, and has had 33 pro fights over roughly 7 years. Oh... you mean like... Pianeta , Mormeck , Wach , Leapai , old Rahman , old Austin ...... opponents like that ??

The worst names you can dig up from Wlad's recent record look like a goddamn murderer's row compared to Wilder's resume.493dart wrote:Baby Face Finster wrote:Wilder is a joke. Talk about a self-defeating argument.

All of them except for perhaps Rahman were better than Molina, who couldn't last one round against his only top twenty opponent, and two of them (Leapai and Austin) were mandatories while another (Rahman) was a very-late replacement for Alexander Povetkin, who pulled out shortly before he was supposed to fight Wlad.
By the way, an even older Austin was ahead 6-3 on a pair of cards going into the 10th round against Stiverne, who is probably Wilder's best opponent.
Re: Wilder defends 'BC belt in Alabama June 13 v TBA
Grabimere Clinchko didnt know what to do with a fighter that could HALFWAY box and move like Jennings---how was he supposed to clinch and lean on him ??
He prefers bums like kubrat and leapai who stood right in front of him so he could tee off-----then lean on them and clinch and hold.
Wilder ko's Clinchko in 8 .

Didn't know what to do so badly that he won 10-2.493dart wrote:Grabimere Clinchko didnt know what to do with a fighter that could HALFWAY box and move like Jennings---how was he supposed to clinch and lean on him ??
