Takashi Uchiyama vs. Jomthong Chuwattana

Post by Cutman Scabbers »

You heard it here first: Chuwattana will beat Uchiyama.

This time, Uchiyama's people chose the wrong guy.

Edging with you being right, though I think I'd say it's 50-50, brilliant match up. Shame Taguchi will be facing g Kwanthai, was hoping Ryoichi would getter a better match up than that

They wanted someone easy for his first defense.

There's easy then there's "Oh, now I see how he's gotten a world ranking again (about 2 days ago) despite having beaten nobody of note since he narrowly beat Pigmy more than 4 years ago..."

There is easy and then there is ridiculous, this falls into the second category, especially considering Kwanthai's loss to Stamp Kiatniwat.

A couple of years ago there was a thread here called something like 'Who will be the fighter of the decade?'
At the time I went with Jomthong Chuwatana, this will prove if I am on the right track or completely wrong so I am looking forward to this fight!

Good pick! As good as Uchiyama is, he's 35, Jomthong 25.

First time Uchiyama will be facing a southpaw taller than he is (and technically better than he is).

Will pick Miura to stop Billy Dib.

Haha wow, I thought Uchiyama could win but was hoping Chuwatana got it so I'd look like Nostradamus. Great win for him, did not expect a RD2 KO! :bag:

Hls & VIdeo of the 2 co-main events here:

Ain;t surprised about the result. Jomthong had a size advantage but wasn't able to be effective... Uchiyama's movement puzzled him alone. Jomthong is effective when his opponent gives him the pocket where he grinds. It wasn't the case here. As soon as Jomthong felt his legs go, he laid down

Brutal KO hope he rematches Muira in a unification. That would be a very exciting fight.

That first big right hand at around 4.00 (in the video) seems to do some kind of damage to Chuwattana's right eye - he repeatedly closes it with a pained look on his face for the rest of the fight and after he gets up. Dunno if that took away some of his confidence as well but that was some brutal and efficient finishing from Uchiyama.

Wish they showed more Asian boxing shows on UK TV. What's not to like about Uchiyama, Inoue et al?

Whilst it's not quite the same we do need to be thankful for the giant video collection on asianboxing.info it really does allow us to see a lot of Asian fighters that wouldn't be seen elsewhere, like Shohei Omori and Ken Shiro for example.
