It was already posted in brief about leon Spinks working as a custodian a few weeks ago but there is an article on it in todays Daily Mirror. Quite sad really.

Obviously a proud man, not asking for brother Michael's help.

Anyone read it ?

I read on Fightnews a couple of weeks ago that he only works "to pass the time"

I imagine that he is OK money wise, given that he can still make money from autograph sessions etc. Although, if he is in financial trouble and Cory and Michael Spinks won't help him it's a disgrace.

Reading the Mirror article it doesn't seem like he is working to pass time, although i heard this reason too. Says how he lives in a run down flat with his girlfriend, and it comes across as he is struggling.

Also i think its a case of Leon being too stubborn to accept any help from his brothers rather than Michael and Cory's failure to help.

I think Leon is probably too proud to accept help from Micheal, which is admirable... after all pride is worth a lot and theres no disgrace in how Leon is living his life these days, he's just trying to get on with it and get from a to b which is the way many people live...

I should imagine that Leon's relationship with his family members ain't that good. The guy's a fornicating nutter, and had serious addiction problems. He wasn't around for Cory when Cory grew up, so why should Cory help him out?

Who knows what his relationship with Michael is?

Just get him a house or apartment somewhere safe..

Leons relationship with Micheal has always been pretty good, Micheal never forgot that Leon used to look out for him when they were kids...

From what I have read Leon and Cory have sorted out most of their 'issues; and get along ok. I also understan Leon and Michael have always got on well.

"The guy's a fornicating nutter" Bit strong their James in my opinion. Leon is pf course far from perfect and has many faults as we all do, but by all accounts is a really nice guy. Also from what I have read the person Leon has hurt the most is Leon himself and unlike some other big time Boxers has never raped women, robbed banks or beat up members of the public.

Yes my thoughts entirely, its funny how many of the people who like to laugh and ridicule Leon Spinks are often the same ones who go all gooey eyed over Mike Tyson still for some reason!!?... I have far more respect for Leon Spinks than I have for Tyson... he doesn't go round feeling sorry for himself or blaming others for his problems and largely he never hurt anyone but himself... and from all accounts he trys to offer advise to young people now to steer them away from the sort of mistakes he made... shame Tyson doesn't do the same thing....
