Estimated 5.62 million ppv buys

Post by tiny_acres »

Yahoo just estimated the Mayweather Pacquiao ppv sales at 5.62 million.
If this is true it is way beyond expectations.
A rematch would be inevitable

I honestly don't think a rematch would make 2 million buys. In theory and if people used their brains, it shouldn't at least. The first fight was crap honestly, and the bias making it look like a Mayweather masterpiece by some was just as bad. The fight would only be worse a year from now. I probably wouldn't even watch it, unless they put on a solid undercard. At that point I'd go out to see it or stream it.

We are not who they would market this fight to. This fight would be aimed at the general public.
And yes they are dumb enough to swallow it hook line and sinker

surely a lot, as media pointed out and fans of boxing overall. look at brut, his idol won and even he doesnt seem to happy

i got a ask you a question.

if mayweather-pacquiao did 5,6. than what would do in fantasy tyson-ali, with internet, 24/7 episodes, hd tv, todays standards. i mean i am thinking about 8-10, which would be over half a billion dollar haha....can you imagine, getting paid over half a billion for 36 minutes, even bill gates doesnt do that kind of money in such short period of time  think about it

i think i make a thread about it, its an interresting question, what you think.

With the popularity and fame of Ali and Tyson I would say you are right at around 8 to 10 million.

do you know what that means?

5,6 buys, each 100 $ are 560.000.000 $, floyd 60 %, so around 270 million

lets say tyson-ali made 10 milllion buys, also 100 each and because both at prime, or in terms of popularity were similar, just sky high, top of the mountain, it would have been a 50/50, so each would have made half a billion for 36 minutes work. i mean, they would have made 4 times as much as prime tiger woods in one year, in just 1 fight  hahaahahaha, thats so insane, can you imagine that.

they make a triology and make 1.500.000.000 $ hahahaha......i cant believe

No way in hell that Floyd got 60% of the buys. You forgot about the cable/satellite companies.

I'd like to see how Yahoo arrived at 5.62 million. Even as an estimated they need to have worked with some basis for the number.

Personally I didn't call that a Masterpiece, when he zapped Diego and blew out Gatti those were Masterpieces but I notice that no one has said anything bad about Manny's terrible/piss poor performance (well at least Packy's fans (no objectivity whatsoever).

I don't believe that anyone would order the PPV for a rematch either because they saw how easy it was for Floyd to beat him and they don't want to see a repeat of that.

if this as true, it changes everything. here is what i
do if i am floyd: start trash talking manny, but like
crazy. manny trashes back, they meet somewhere
and are not easily kept apart. no more suits, no more
class act, blood thirst.

voila. 3.5m will watch the rematch. trust me, this
thought crosses floyd's mind not only once if these
numbers are for real.

They've already hit the 2.25M mark and this is without ANY CABLE NUMBERS!!!

Generally for a major pay-per-vew fight, sales on cable systems throughout the country account for 55 to 65 percent of the total. It's more often in the 60 percent range, with satellite systems usually accounting for 35 percent of the sales and telephone companies making up the rest.

Yahoo Sports on Thursday learned sales figures for the Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao fight on DirecTV and Dish Network, as well as AT&T's uVerse and Verizon's FIOS services. Those add up to 2.25 million sales, which even without one sale from a cable company customer would make it tied for the second-highest-selling pay-per-view of all time.

DirecTV sold 1.15 million pay-per-views, while Dish's number was 500,000. The telephone companies combined for 600,000. Combined, that is 2.25 million already. If cable systems wound up being 60 percent of the total, that would mean the final figure is a mind-boggling 5.625 million.

Manny has many, many more hands in his pocket than any other fighter- Maybe even in history.
Cash cows are always circled by vultures, but Manny seems more susceptible than normal, even.
Mike C*nts being exhibit A. (No further exhibit needed even, since he's such an extreme example)
Here's a total non boxing guy with no beneficial skills or experience to really help Manny in any way that Manny didn't already have being done for him-
And also he's an obvious and blatant douchebag who comes off as a worthless creep to everyone he meets-
He actually convinced Manny to hire him as manager in no time at all. ( I think I read an interview with Tike Doncz somewhere that it was only one meeting and Manny was sold on him and signed hahah)
Roach and Arum both have went on record stating similar opinions of Conks, and in an interview once Freddie said he posed a soft ultimatum to Manny one time about getting rid of him, but Manny stuck to his guns and told Freddie to deal with it.
Pac's obviously loyal to a fault, which Pike Cons has taken full advantage of.
Plus, Pac financially helps more people than is healthy for one's bottom line.
Freddie's always said that he's afraid Manny will just give all his money away eventually.
I hope not.

And as for me spelling that certain douchebag leech's name correctly- Nah.
It does make me laugh every time I see him speaking for Manny though, and when I watched one of those "inside fighter v fighter" shows, he mentioned that he was in Manny's room at 3 AM when Floyd called, I thought to myself, now there's a guy who knows this position of his is so precarious- he stays right up Manny's ass, at all times.

0.02 million (20,000) of that may be true boxing fans who wanted to see the fight in good quality. The rest 5.6 mil are idiots.

Federal tax on that is 40%. Another 15% self employment tax. No Nevada state tax.

The effective tax rate for 1 percenters is about 25%.

That means Floyd will clear about 190 to 205M and Manny 130 to 145M if the 5.6M buys figure holds up
