how a superstar boxer (for example floyd) gets paid?
I made a thread a couple of days ago and i have a feeling you can make as much as you want, they will always take to much away.
with they, i mean
tax 30 %
verizon (provider) 30 %
shw/hbo (networks) 10 %
mgm (venue) 5 %
promoter/manager 10 %
so, my estimation is that round about 85 % of your money goes away to these factors. floyd getting 200 million and now taking around 70-80 % away ends with 40 million, which is big money, but considering you got 200 and than end up 40 is a big rip off to me.
even if you made prime tyson vs prime ali kind of money, meaning 10 million ppv buys and both end up making half a billion, than basicly end up with 100 mill.
my fnial question is, how can a top boxer change that situation, boxer get more and more power. oscar became the second or arguably biggest promoter, so wouldnt it be so far out of reach to build an own tv channel or provider?
What alternatives are there to the standard of now
Re: What alternatives are there to the standard of now
Sorry, I can't get over Floyd's plight. How is he going to get by?
Re: What alternatives are there to the standard of now
I think when they made the contract they establish the percentage for Hbo/Showtime, verizon, mgm. Than everything after is the amount taxes for Floyd. Being is promoter makes sense in that case he probably doesn t have to pay is manager by percent but over a year.
Re: What alternatives are there to the standard of now
Well...Arum said he would be cutting Manny a check for $25 million fight night. Of course Manny will make a lot more than that, but is the guy that fornicating dumb to get raped by Arum like that? Does Arum have a big % of Manny's PPV cut too? I know people hate Floyd for a lot of legitimate reasons, but he is 100% correct when he said Manny would make 10's of millions more if he was not with Arum.
Re: What alternatives are there to the standard of now
do you 3 guys are able to read, your respones have absolutly nothing to do with my thread and my questions
Re: What alternatives are there to the standard of now
i think there is a flaw in the thinking. the fact
that there is so much absolute money at stake
is a result of so many parties being involved
and getting paid. if floyd and manny fight on
a street corner and let a hat go around they
can share 100% of the profits. if they want a
bigger audience, they need a professional
venue, which costs money and they might
share only 90% of the profits and so on and
for world wide coverage you need partners all
over the world. you have to see the earnings
in absolute, not in relative terms. taking half
the share of a ten times bigger cake still means
you get five times more cake. that is the only
math that counts.
