Tapia clearly with both gloves on the ground. Ref doesn't rule knockdown or give a standing 8 count. Instead Soro is able to follow up and score a TKO.

Horrific job by official.

I don't think Tapia would've lasted much longer anyway considering he was blocking punches with his face from the start. Soro was landing easily and didn't seem bothered by what was coming back at him. He lost a very close fight for the WBO title, in my opinion beat Douglas, and has now beaten Tapia; don't sleep on him!

It was Tapia's fault... He should have taken a knee and recovered. Instead he ate huge shots.

Maybe. Maybe not.

Ref still didn't do his job. When a guy puts both hands on the ground - it's a knockdown. You halt action. Do your job. It's your only job.

I agree about Tapia's brains. Or lack thereof. He's not a smart guy.

We won't know what would've happened, but he showed no survival skills and was getting hit easily from the start by someone who was able to hurt him, so I doubt that he would've turned it around.

No $. Just wanted to see more rounds. I actually thought Tapia was outworking him and ahead in the fight despite the odd slurping of Soro by the commentator. I would expect to see Tapia was winning on the cards before the stoppage.

Soro was by far the more effective puncher in my opinion. He lost the first because he hardly did anything, but throughout the fight Tapia was mainly hitting arms and gloves (there were a few occasions when he had Soro against the ropes, threw about 5-8 punches, and landed none of them in my view) and when Soro started opening up in the second he landed almost as he pleased with clean shots. I've followed his career since he fought for the WBO title and I'm not surprised by this result.

Tapias defense is horrible he has nice combos but man that defense.

With that said ref screwed up big time that should have been an 8 count horrible.

Yup same here diddy Mancini was on Soro nuts even when Tapia was out working him.

I had Tapia winning every rd but his chin and defense let him down again.

Just watched the fight. I didnt see from any of the camera angles where Tapia's gloves touched the canvas...they were off camera at the lowest point and it didnt seem he was low enough for them to touch.
in any case, there was a clear momentum shift in that 3rd round. He was on his way to losing.
Mancini was on Soro's nuts way too much in those first two rounds where I thought Tapia won.

p.s. I think its funny how HBO was talking about this dramatic transformation of Tapia in his last fight because hes with Freddie Roach, as they do with all new Roach fighters...just goes to show the HBO fabrication that Roach makes these incredible changes in boxers.

Just like people are with Dawejko I can see the same being done with Tapia. I knew from round 2 that he was going to stop Tapia. Let's face it, the only reason people are backing this guy up is because he was the popular fighter. Even the chick interviewing him gave him more respect than she gave Soro. Well.. Michel Soro made him and everyone else pay and had the arena empty by the time the commercial break was done! That was hilarious, and the only person to blame for this loss is Tapia. Dude should of taken a knee with the barrage of punches he was given to his face.

And Roach wasn't even in his corner on fight night. Goes to show where he falls on Freddie's priority list.

The referee did a HORRIBLE job in that fight. Tapia's gloves touched the canvas like two times ffs, and the referee did no break or standing 8-count, etc. Still, Tapia left himself open to be countered and hurt. I did like the co-feature bout, with Sean Manahahn, but his #3 world ranking has to be a joke, cus there is NO WAY he would be able to hang three rounds with a world champion.
