Shaping up to be a really great fight.
Need to get some of those all action casual fans complaining about Pac/Floyd to watch this one.

Lots of infighting. I have the fight 4-2 through 6 but its close.
Ref is clearly in Figueroa's corner.

Horrible point deduction.
Still a good, action fight though.

Re: Burns vs Figueroa
No warnings for the rabbit punches from Figueroa, another point deduction for holding when hurt from Burns...
Figueroa's fight to lose now, the ref made sure of that.
Good fight, too bad it has to be marred by an official who thought his name should have been up in lights.

The ref is being a dick. A proper dick.
I think it's close, very close. I can see another point deduction thrown in for good measure. Burns has been good, much better than in his last 3-4 fights.

Re: Burns vs Figueroa
I had it 7-5 for Burns, with one 10-8 for Fig and one 9-9 both due to the ref being a dick.
Re: Burns vs Figueroa
great effort from the rickster , didn't think he had it left in him , doesn't carry enough power at the weight tho

Bad scorecards.
Re: Burns vs Figueroa
My wish is that the millions of people worldwide who will only watch one fight this year and that fight was mayweather-Pacquiao......had watched this fight instead.

Re: Burns vs Figueroa
Ridiculous score cards...ridiculous refereeing.
It's really too bad how boxing continues to do this...in my first post I'm saying I wish casuals could watch this, and in this post I'm saying this sport is crooked as a dogs hind leg.
Good job officials, screwed it up again.

Initially mine too...until they're left scratching their heads at the end wondering how Figueroa won by such a wide margin.ldlamb wrote:My wish is that the millions of people worldwide who will only watch one fight this year and that fight was mayweather-Pacquiao......had watched this fight instead.

Re: Burns vs Figueroa
Good fight and really well fought on both boxers behalf.
As much as I like Ricky Burns I don't think he has anything to complain about when it comes to the judges decision especially considering what happened in Scotland when he fought Beltran.
That said due to the passion he fought with he's not going to have a problem getting fairly high ranking opponents in the future, both are entertaining fighters to watch and this wont have done their careers any harm.

No scratching there heads here Figueroa won it clearly unless ofcourse you only wanted to see what Burns did and not the other guy.punchoutsb wrote:Initially mine too...until they're left scratching their heads at the end wondering how Figueroa won by such a wide margin.ldlamb wrote:My wish is that the millions of people worldwide who will only watch one fight this year and that fight was mayweather-Pacquiao......had watched this fight instead.

Re: Burns vs Figueroa
Or maybe you only saw what Figueroa did? Burns was more effective throughout the fight, won seven rounds IMO.kidbazooka1 wrote:No scratching there heads here Figueroa won it clearly unless ofcourse you only wanted to see what Burns did and not the other guy.punchoutsb wrote:Initially mine too...until they're left scratching their heads at the end wondering how Figueroa won by such a wide margin.ldlamb wrote:My wish is that the millions of people worldwide who will only watch one fight this year and that fight was mayweather-Pacquiao......had watched this fight instead.
Re: Burns vs Figueroa
I don't think Burns should worry too much, he fought a good fight and put on a decent show.
Nothing to be ashamed of whatsoever, nice to see him come stateside Ricky will be alright.

Figueroa beat him clearly it was a good fight by burns to but Omar took it.

Re: Burns vs Figueroa
And I disagree. No bias necessary. Burns was more effective for most of the fight, despite fighting two guys in there.
Re: Burns vs Figueroa
This is why I Don't usually get too upset and get mad at judges scorecards.
I though Figuroa clearly won. burns fought hard, but the harder punches and more sustained attack was Figueroa. I thought he took it by about 8-4.
At least one or two others agreed with me.
A couple of others saw it differently. I doubt they were paid off.
It just shows when a fight is remotely close, different people are looking for different things and can come to different conclusions.
Boxing isnt like basketball where the ball either goes through the hoop or it doesnt.... Boxing decisions will always be to some extent based on opinion.

Re: Burns vs Figueroa
Awful refereeing. I couldn't believe he was genuinely pulling Ricky's arm away from his body when they were fighting in the clinch. Very dangerous.
Thought Halling and Watt were poor as well. Classic case of deciding who they thought would win and taking about 4 years to realise the fight wasn't as one sided as they expected. Think it was round 5 Halling asked "How much more of this can Burns take?" when he was doing absolutely fine.

Re: Burns vs Figueroa
Thought Figueroa won it... but it did appear to do with what the ref allowed. .. and What's With the ref pulling at a fighter?? Can't say I've ever seen that
Re: Burns vs Figueroa
That referee needs to be struck off. Pulling a boxers arm off is so dangerous, it is a shame that neither smashed one of their shots into him.
It was more of a brawl than a boxing match, but it was entertaining. Burns was unwilling to back peddle against Figueroa who did look limited. I had him winning by 3.
As for Burns, a promising display, but unlikely to ever get back to Worle title elite.
