LMFAO! So I saw Dawejko last night and this guy can beat Shannon Briggs? No disrespect to JD but Shannon Briggs would have been in the showers by round 2 celebrating a KO.Dennis wrote:Briggs hits hard but his defense isn't great. I don't think he would land clean on Joey and Joey would land shots on him. After a few rounds Briggs would be tired and eventually Joey would stop him by going to the body.DoinDamage wrote: I like how you write Briggs off as a nobody.. lol. I'd say Briggs would stop Joey.

Re: The Resurgence of Heavyweight Joey Dawejko
I just want to bring this up again. Seems like people really think of Shannon Briggs as broken. The guy works harder than any other Heavy today other than Wlad, and he is far more craftier than any fighter that has Joey Dawejko has fought. He Drawed in 2013 against Miller in a fight that Miller would've won had he not been deducted 2 points. Shannon would annihilate Dawejko. We're talking about a guy that just went 12 rounds not too long ago with fair ease against a respectable opponent. I have a hard time believing this is a thread full of people that know boxing. If you are sleeping on Shannon Briggs as if he is just some frail journeyman, you are failing yourself of knowledge.Dennis wrote:Good luck Joey. I'd love to see a fight between Joey Dawejko and Mansour. There are a bunch of other fights I'd like to see with Joey. Joey vs Andy Ruiz. Joey vs Steve Cunningham (two Philly fighters going at it) and Joey vs Shannon Briggs. I know what the outcome would be of that last fight. Joey would stop Briggs. I also know the first one too. Joey defeats Mansour probably by UD. The other two bouts are tougher to call. I think they are evenly matched. I'd like to see Joey beat Ruiz and Joey defeat Cunningham.
Make these fights happen Joey!!!

Okay. His record is far better than that of Dawejko. Love was stopped by a respectable opponent before the Briggs fight. One loss by KO. He has been cold as of late, but far more active than anybody in the top 50... and has been stopped by a lot of good competition (Molina, Joshua). Those guys are World Class Heavies. So if you don't know anything about Love until he fought Briggs what can you make of him?punchoutsb wrote:Says Raphael Love is a respectable opponent to go 12 rounds with.ShoulderRolla wrote:I just want to bring this up again. I never said he had to be a household name. You're the one holding up going 12 against Raphael Love as something to brag aboutShoulderRolla wrote: Okay. His record is far better than that of Dawejko. I NEVER SAID THAT. You're jumping to conclusions now. I just said that since his return he has shown that he is well conditioned.punchoutsb wrote:I never said he had to be a household name. But you did. Love is a punching bag. It's never easy to go 10 or 12 round in professional boxing, but going 12 against Love is about as easy as it can get.ShoulderRolla wrote:We're talking about a guy that just went 12 rounds not too long ago with fair ease against a respectable opponent.
I'd probably favor Briggs over Joey at this time too, but coming on here claiming you "have a hard time believing this is a thread full of people that know boxing" and then holding up going the distance against Raphael Love as something special won't get you far.

Won't get me far? He's been knocked out consistently since after he fought Briggs. I never put a serious regard on Briggs/Love being something oh so phenomenal. He schooled Love all of that fight, and all I said was he had conditioning and was respectable. Wasn't like the guy had a 20-20 record. I am a longtime reader of BoxRec and in my opinion I think a lot of people talk out their asses on here.punchoutsb wrote:ShoulderRolla wrote: I NEVER SAID THAT. You're jumping to conclusions now. Re: The Resurgence of Heavyweight Joey Dawejko
I thought with the loss in weight and full-time training, JD would not run out of steam in the middle of the fight. But that is exactly what happened, a problem with earlier fights. I thought JD won maybe two rounds. If JD was in the same shape as Mansour, the fight would have been close.

I really enjoyed the fight.

Philadelphia, the city of brotherly love is known for having a great boxing history, great fighters, and yes, their amazing cheese steaks. There is also that good old Rocky statue that you must visit at least once in your lifetime. After stopping by my favorite spot for a great cheese steak, I headed to the 2300 Arena for what promised to be a great night of Philly boxing.
