Anthony Joshua involved in a farce!
Re: Anthony Joshua involved in a farce!
I don't even bother watching Joshua fights anymore.
If you can't predict the outcome of his fights at the moment you are plain thick. End of!
Until he fights someone that is alive, i can't be arsed with him and all the bollox that surrounds him.

Re: Anthony Joshua involved in a farce!
He is less than two years into his pro career. Relax. He is fighting Kevin Johnson May 30th which is a decent scrap. He is only 25 and has a lot of time
Kevin Johnson has never been stopped as a pro. This fight has got me wondering, can Joshua KO him? Something Vitali couldn't do. Plus let him get accustomed to the pro game. He will contend for a world title in less than 2 years I bet. Maybe even in a year.

Exactly. The "oooh it's johnson next, that'll be a proper fight" is nonsense.
joshua is as padded as as cell at Broadmore. when he contests a proper fight, I'll start to take an interest. the hype doesn't make any impression on me.

He is building his record. Something most fighters especially prospects strive to do. I'll reiterate that he is only 2 years into his professional career and had to take 5 months off. What's the big hurry? What's the sense in biting off more than you can chew this early? Johnson is an interesting fight imo. Can he ko him or not? Johnson most likely won't win though but it will gain Joshua some experience.Ian1973 wrote:Exactly. The "oooh it's johnson next, that'll be a proper fight" is nonsense.

Just watch in 12-18 months he will be holding a world title. Relax
Wladimir for example fought Carlos Monroe 11-6 (roughly 2 years into his pro career). Not everyone (even Joshua) will pull a Mike Tyson and fight for a world title a year and a half in. Now if Joshua kept fighting guys of that level for another year then I would be mad but it's still early.

Spin it however you like he is fighting people leagues below his class ............. end of story. In the meantime Sky have their orgasms every fight night and try and con everyone into believing their hype.
Bah, no i don't fall for it. when joshua beats someone decent then i'll give him the credit he deserves. in the meantime i ain't buying the shit, i don't buy it from politicians and i ain't buying it from Smith / Nelson and co.

Of course he is going to fight guys below his class. All the greats before him built records doing the same thing. Do you really think he is just going to jump in and fight guys equal skill level as him and screw up his record early on? He would be even more criticized for that. This is prize fighting and they are building him the proper way, the smart way.Ian1973 wrote:Spin it however you like he is fighting people leagues below his class ............. end of story. How many fights is he going to have against bums? He's had bloody loads, it's getting stupid now. The first 6 / 7/ 8 / 9/ fine ......... but after a while it starts to take the piss. This guy is an olympic success he aint a novice.

Re: Anthony Joshua involved in a farce!
Just take a look at guys like Wladimir's or even Ali's records 12 fights in (both olympic successes). Ali for example in his 12th professional bout he fought Don Warner 12-6-2. Couple years later he went on and challenged Sonny Liston for the title. So did Ali really screw up his career by fighting a guy 12-6-2 in his 12th professional fight? I think not. And to say he's had "bloddy loads" is a little much, I'll reiterate that Joshua is a mere 2 years into his career and most likely wants to build his record up a bit. Why not? Do you really expect him to challenge on a top 10 fighter just a handful of fights into his career?Ian1973 wrote:How many fights is he going to have against bums? Re: Anthony Joshua involved in a farce!
Yes I agree Joshua was an Olympian, just as was Wladimir and Ali (Both ATGs). And yes I agree that Joshua is not a novice. He is a big time prospect which I am excited about. These fights obviously don't mean anything to his legacy but he is doing what most fighters do at the start of their career. Start at the bottom and work their way up. I'm not being conned. I understand the business side of things and why things are done the way they are done. I'm still baffled to why anyone would be up in arms to what Joshua is doing. What Joshua is doing is nothing out of the ordinary when you compare what he is doing to what other past Olympians have done when they made the transition to the pro game. Or did you expect Joshua to come out of the gates and challenge on Wladimir Klitschko or David Haye as a professional debut? Just trying to gain some clarity.Ian1973 wrote:joshua was an olympian he ain't a novice. If you think these fights are relevant I feel sorry for you , you are being conned like most of the public.

Lomachenko fought for a world title in his second pro fight. OK I don't expect Joshua to do that but I expect him to be fighting people with a pulse. I don't care about Ali that was 40 odd yeas ago, different world, no argument, silly comparison (with respect).
You ARE being conned, trust me. Love ............. fk me, I'd have fancied my chances against him!

Re: Anthony Joshua involved in a farce!
Lomachenko great example. You can argue he bit of more than he could chew early on in his career when he could have adjusted to the pro game more. Yes he did for some reason get fouled way too many times in that fight and that is for another discussion but all in all it may have been too early for him. Now he can never get that loss off his record. It will be there forever. Remember you are comparing Joshua to the greatest amateur fighter of all time. And to say what Ali did was 40 years ago blah blah blah different world ect is total baloney. Wladimir did the same thing did he not? Other than Lomachenko who else has fought big time fighters only a handful of fights into their careers?Ian1973 wrote:Lomachenko fought for a world title in his second pro fight. And again how exactly am I being conned? I know he is building his record, I know he will eventually fight better opposition. Kevin Johnson is a better fighter than Love is he not? Trust me it will only get better from here on out. It's not like he will fight guys like this the rest of his career and build a record of 100-0 and never challenge for a world title.

40 odds years isn't baloney. The world is totally different now. It makes me laugh, everyone goes on about how bad the heavyweight scene is yet they wet their pants at Joshua knocking over skittle after skittle. You'd think he was better than Wlaqd the way people go on. Ok he might be .................... but over to him to prove it.

Did Wlad start his career 40 years ago? Wladimir started his career out very similar to Ali. Same level of opposition 10-12 fights in and went on to have stellar careers. I like how you like to ignore the fact that fighters today have began their careers in similar fashion.Ian1973 wrote:40 odds years isn't baloney. The world is totally different now. Wlad lost a few fights but he lost to decent level fighters. Joshua has beaten S H I T up until now, and that is it I am not apologising for that his opponents are all way shorter than him and D / E level in terms of ability. You are going to argue against that how?

You are getting mad at the level of opposition Joshua is facing 12 fights in. I just got through showing you the fighters Wladimir and Ali fought 12 fights in.Ian1973 wrote:Wlad lost a few fights but he lost to decent level fighters. Ali vs 12-6-2
Wladimir vs 30-16-2 (And no Wladimir didn't start his career 40 years ago
So how is Joshua much different? Explain that to me? I will wait for an explanation but all you will respond with is "You are being conned, trust me ect"

I'm not getting "mad" on anything I'm simply responding to those that think joshua is the second coming on the basis of him beating cardboard cutouts.
I want to see Joshua do well but his opposition is a joke at the moment . yes or no?

Re: Anthony Joshua involved in a farce!
To be fair how many guys are the same size as Joshua? I can imagine matchmaking AJ is a nightmare, other prospects wouldn't want to risk their unbeaten records against him, he's too much of a novice for a world title fight so your left with old timers like Johnson or guys with losing records. As others have mentioned most HWs are easily matched in their first 15-20 fights, even more in Wilders case. These days it's all about generating money and creating an unbeaten record, who'd be interested in AJ if he lost early in his career. It hasn't done Price much good and the common argument for Price was he was over matched too quickly. Go figure.Ian1973 wrote:
