I'm assuming you mean their ethnic ancestry, and not the specific cities they were born in.
I don't know, but I just wanted to clarify that. Someone who is more informed might be able to give you an answer, or at least an educated guess.

How much are the odds, that he will answer my question on Twitter/Facebook?verballistic wrote:Definitely not Jamaican, but like most American & Jamaican black folks, their ancestry is West African. You'll hardly ever find any blacks in this hemisphere whose ancestors are from Uganda, Kenya, etc. because those East African countries were so far away from the Atlantic Coast slave trade.PsychoGamerTwo wrote:Couldn't find anything on the web, so im just asking here. Re: Where is Floyd from?
Found an interview with Floyd Mayweather Sr who confirmed that he was born in Amory, Monroe county, Mississippi before their family settled in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Did a bit of looking around and found out a few things on the Mayweathers Ancestry.
Floyd Sr's father, Theartha Mayweather (born 1929) was from Beat 5 (possibly Central Grove), Monroe county, Mississippi according to the 1930 census.
Theartha's Parents were George W Mayweather and Roxie A Mayweather. They were from Monroe County, Mississippi. 1920 census says they were in Nettleton, Mississippi. 1930 census says they were in Monroe county, Mississippi. 1910 census says George was in Central Grove, Monroe county.
The 1930 census says that Roxie Mayweathers parents were from Mississippi while George W Mayweathers father, Dawson Mayweather (born 1834) was from Virginia. And both Dawson's parents were from Virginia.
Amazing what you can unearth on Google!!
As someone stated, the majority of African Americans are the descendents of slaves brought over from West Africa. The overwhelming majority of these came from the area that stretches from present day Senegal to Angola, so I suppose this is where the Mayweather genes originate from.

No wonder he doesn't care about Africa, if all of his family he knows been in the U.S.Calamity James wrote:Found an interview with Floyd Mayweather Sr who confirmed that he was born in Amory, Monroe county, Mississippi before their family settled in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Re: Where is Floyd from?
Why do you assume he ''doesn't care'' about Africa? Further to that, why would he be expected to? Do Americans of say, German descent inherently care deeply about Europe?PsychoGamerTwo wrote:No wonder he doesn't care about Africa, if all of his family he knows been in the U.S.Calamity James wrote:Found an interview with Floyd Mayweather Sr who confirmed that he was born in Amory, Monroe county, Mississippi before their family settled in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Couldn't find anything on the web? I guess that makes you either computer illiterate, a troller, or a comedian.

Or maybe there just isn't information available on Floyd's ancestry?Badhusker wrote:PsychoGamerTwo wrote:Couldn't find anything on the web, so im just asking here. Haiti? Uganda? Jamaica? Libya? Kenya? Kongo?

I don't know why TS wants to know which African country Floyd's family came from, but I don't think that makes him computer illiterate
Re: Where is Floyd from?
Interestingly in the US Public Records Index, Floyd Snr's date of birth is 15th March 1953, not 19th October 1952 as quoted of boxrec and Wikipedia.

No they don't. But there is a REAL pride in European ancestry that most blacks in America don't feel towards Africa.Bobbyptsd wrote:Why do you assume he ''doesn't care'' about Africa? Re: Where is Floyd from?
PBF great, great, great grandfather on the Mayweather side was born in Virginia in the early 1800's
Re: Where is Floyd from?
That wasn't really my point though. The poster assumed Floyd doesn't care about Africa, which I supposed he deduced from the fact that Floyd doesn't fight in Africa? Or that he doesn't go around talking about it all the time? Or that he doesn't donate all his purses to charities to help the continent? I don't know.BAD INTENTIONS wrote:No they don't. No one just assumes Paulie Malinaggi, for example, doesn't "care", whatever that means, about Italy or greater Europe if he doesn't do the above things. Not sure why that would be a normal thing to say about Floyd.
