Wow sensational shoot out, I thought Canelo was taking it a bit casual against the big hitting American but Jesus, absolutely brutal take down.
Great El Mariachi entrance, the crowd just love him - and James the real Mandingo warrior, a Texas gunslinger who just does not know when he's beat, brave as hell.
Real class by Saul, including the way he went right over to check his beaten opponent. Terrific stuff

I dunno about being a FOTY contender...imo it wasn't competitive enough to be considered for a FOTY. I also thought beforehand that the only likely outcome was an early KO win for Canelo, so it didn't really have the surprise factor either.

That being said...it was still effing awesome

The skill, the power, the speed it's all there. Canelo just oozed class.

Knock out of the year so far. The way he set up the finish was pure boxing artistry.

I'd love to see Alverez v Cotto. The skill, power and class would be something to behold.

Agree, his best was few years ago . He now lacks a bit of speed and keeps falling out with his best trainer. Definitely a loose cannon out of the ring.

Think the fight played out how we all thought and hoped it would. Brutal, brutal knockout. Hope for Kirkland's sake he calls it a day as he was sounding a little Riddick Bowe like in the post fight interview.
Canelo and Golden Boy will be sitting round the telly praying and hoping that Cotto does the business against Geale. That's a huge fight and one were I think Canelo holds all the aces.

Great to watch, i'd love to hear peoples views on Kirklands tactics. I thought they were horrible.

Perhaps if it was Cannel's first 'real' test, the maybe throw the kitchen sink from the off and see what he's made of. But we know he can take a whack, Kirkland should have been more patient for my money, not saying he would have won (i gave him little chance) but i think he could have faired better by trying to at least see what Canelo was bringing in the first few rounds.

I have a few friend of a friend stories about Kirkland, and i'm pretty sure even Anne Wolf struggles like hell to keep him on the straight and narrow.

I guess my point is that even with Anne, he is likely to self to destruct on occasion. Ido think though that she has proved to be the best person for the job. Again, i think his tactics were horrible.
