May 22nd Moscow card
May 22nd Moscow card
Another talent-packed Russian bill is occurring soon.
-Drozd vs Wlod
-Povetkin vs Perez
-Charr vs Leapai
-Chakhkiev vs Laghetti
-Kudryashov vs Meroro
The main event is uninspiring considering how one-sided the first fight was, but I think Povetkin-Perez is well-matched and should be fairly competitive and entertaining. At a lower-level, Charr-Leapai seems like it has a good chance of being a fun fight, while I'm glad to see the KO monster Kud back in action; Meroro is a step-down from Gomez and Palacios but Kud only fought a month ago so I don't have a problem with it. Although Laghetti was beaten up in the final stages of his fight with Huck he performed respectably for much of it and won 4 rounds on a pair of cards, so it will be interesting to see what Chak can do with him in comparison.

The way the Russians put these shows on really does show how bad some countries get it for "quality". They might not be that regular but they are brilliant cards all the same.

Great card. Charr v Leapai should be a cracker.

Russian streams are usually rather easy to get :)
Re: May 22nd Moscow card
Who is Laghetti ? Both Chakhiev and Kudryashov need to step up their competition.

You don't remember the Larghetti-Huck fight a few months ago?ikorolev wrote:Who is Laghetti ? Both Chakhiev and Kudryashov need to step up their competition.
Neither Largetti nor Meroro have ever been stopped. Both Chakhkiev and Kudrashov fought fairly recently, so I have no problem with the choice of opponents.
It's an excellent fight card, Charr-Leapai is the kind of competitive matchup promoters SHOULD put on undercards. I'm especially looking forward to Povetkin-Perez.
Re: May 22nd Moscow card
No, I didn't see that one. Funny, Larghetti is scheduled to fight a journeyman 6 days before Chakhiev.Freedom2013 wrote:You don't remember the Larghetti-Huck fight a few months ago?ikorolev wrote:Who is Laghetti ? Both Chakhiev and Kudryashov need to step up their competition.![]()
Re: May 22nd Moscow card
Kud and Chak fought last month. Most fighters at their level wouldn't fight so shortly after their last bout, so I don't see what the problem is. Laghetti was competitive with Huck for much of their bout and Meroro has at least never been stopped in 32 fights, so I think they're respectable opponents given the context.
I suspect that Laghetti's first fight on the BoxRec schedule will probably be canceled.

Wlodarczyk has pulled out of Drozd rematch on May 22 with a serious throat infection. They are looking for a replacement.

Can't say I'm disappointed given how thoroughly Drozd already beat him.

Re: May 22nd Moscow card
Drozd's management is searching, the opponent must be ranked by the WBC:

I'm looking forward to the synchronised chanting to the KO in the Kudryashov fight
Re: May 22nd Moscow card
I am reading that Drozd will fight Lukasz Janik 28(15)-2(1). A decent find one week before the fight.
Re: May 22nd Moscow card
Yes, Janik is a solid opponent with that notice and I'd prefer him to the already outclassed Wlod.
Wasn't Janik training for a bout with Lebedev?

Re: May 22nd Moscow card
Junior Anthony Wright (13-0-1; BoxRec #36) has replaced Chakhkiev's original opponent Mirko Laghetti, though I'm not sure of the reason for the change.
