I've got to go with DeGale, but its a hard fight to call due to their styles. DeGale will be looking to engage whereas i suspect Dirrell will be on the backfoot, DeGale needs to keep his composure and not try to rush the action. Dirrell is a cagey fighter, if DeGale rushes in he could walk onto some big shots.

You've got to favor Dirrell over there. His style (back foot boxing, quick feet and hands) would give Degale a hard night in any circumstances but over in the US on the rival promoter's show he's got even less of a chance. Especially as it's the look of a fight that's destined to go the distance. Also in my opinion hypothetically speaking a promoter would not pay $3.1 million dollars to win a purse bid if he didn't really, really want his fighter (who isn't a draw at all) to win. Think of that what you will.

For Degale's sake I hope there are genuine neutral officials. That Laurence Cole fella for the Burns fight was an absolute disgrace.

What this dude said! As long as the judges are fair and the right guy wins we can't complain! I want DeGale to win but it's a coin toss!

Would love Degale to do it but the odds are stacked against him big time.

Hopefully Degale gets some success early and can keep the pressure on Dirrell. He'll of had to improved a fair bit since the Groves fight if he's gonna pull it off though.

Its gonna be a big ask for DeGale over in the US but he can match Dirrell in every department other than experience, both guys obviously slick and quick but both have been sitting down on their shots a lot more than they did when they were coming through

DeGale's stoppage over Periban was impressive despite the controversy ,same with the one over Gonzalez, you can argue that the referees in those fights were a tad eager to finish things but James was looking destructive no doubt

Equally Andre's power has been looking good in the few fights he's had since Super 6 albeit against limited opposition

This actually could be the toughest fight of Dirrell's career, stylistically at least, Froch's style was made for a slickster like Dirrell and I thought he pipped Carl in that fight,James is a very similar fighter to Andre and although some people reckon this might be boring,I think with both guys being so sharp with their shots that there will be plenty of quality shots landing from both men. There not defensive slicksters, certainly when there not fighting come forward fighters like Froch,Groves and Abraham

I think both guys will want to be seen as the boss as they've been successful when coming forward,it'll be closely contested but even in America DeGale is the better boxer, hopefully he's no injuries and is able to fight without retreating to the ropes for long spells

I think the first 4-6 rounds will be a bit of a bore. But then, I genuinely think DeGale will grind Dirrell down and stop him in the 10th or 11th

Yes, also think Dirrell is rangier and will have better chance for his long straight shots from the outside.

JD should win this, he's got the skills to match & I'd say a bigger heart than the sometimes reluctant American.
He's got a good enough chin to take it to Dirrell, and being the aggressor ( and obviously not getting repeatedly clocked, of course ) will give him a decent chance of getting the points win in the U.S.
Brook and Jamie getting the wins over there will give him a huge boost too.

Tough fight, but for me DeGale gets a narrow points win.

Adam Booth seemed in awe of Dirrell in an interview last night. I remember George Groves' face after sparring Andre for the DeGale fight and he was a mess. Made a big impression on Booth.

I hope Degale and believe he can do it.
Deserves it as he used to be a complete helmet but has turned his attitude around.

Have to favour Dirrell fighting in the states and DeGale doesn't always have a style that will mean he will nick close rounds.

Out of interest, does anyone know of anybody going to this fight? Hearn tweeted the location of the weigh in for 'all those travelling over'. Seemed really optimistic to me as DeGale can barely sell tickets over here.

I might put a few quid on this being a draw. It's probably one of the most evenly matched fights that I've seen in a long time, especially if Andre is back to his best, and James raises his game.

DeGale probably has to stop him to win.

He'll get jobbed if it goes to the scorecards.

Win or lose, if DeGale is ever going to make a name for himself on the world stage now is the time to do it.
