Newspaper reports say Hein Ten Hoff was closer to 6'5 than the 6'3 he is listed at on BoxRec.

Controversial, like the rest of us, wishes someone would hit you upside the head with a right hand.

Any hand, really.
They are welcome to try that.

As long as they don't complain about what happens to them just after that.

True.

Ingo said he made a mistake by looking past Patterrson to Liston.

He was sure he would have to fight Liston and was preparing for that more than for Patterson while he got ready for the 2nd Patterson fight.

Ingo has a famously nasty right hand, and it is revered rightfully.
But I always think of Shavers and Witherspoon when it comes
to the right hand.

I doubt anyone would be feeling much of anything if any of
these guys landed that right hand.

You have a powerful guy with explosive energy in his fist,
he times and places it well on you, whether a Chris Byrd or
a Shavers... its going to end your night. However sturdy jawed
you are. That is why good prize fighters, with good chins don't
leave it out ;)

A 5.56mm round is going to end your time just as well as a
155mm shell, just a matter of where and when it lands.

For some reason Hein Ten Hoff reminds me of Gunboat Smith.
Is there any surviving fight footage of Gunboat Smith?
Im guessing that he may have had a similiar style of boxing.

WHAT exactly makes you think that?

Gunboat Smith beat Jess Willard and knocked Jack Johnson out the ring as a sparring partner.

He also came close to beating Dempsey the first time they fought.

That must be correct . . look at 6'Walcott next to 6'2 Louis and then next to Hoff . . .Hoff absolutely towers over Walcott, he was definitely at least over 6'4 if not 6'5 outright.

I was impressed by his clip vs Kohlbrecher . . .good long snapping left that he sometimes hooked with, and a dynamite right cross. One can definitely see the German tradition/style which can be seen in current fighters brought up in that system like the Klitschkos.

My first first impression of Hein Tim Hoff was that he was tall at least 6 ft 5 , compared to Johansson.

Was Johansson vs Richardson televised live on BBC-TV?
(this looks to be a kinescope)
Whats with the switch to another cam for the first knock-down punch?
Was it added later for"artistic reasons"?

I still think the biggest right hand in HW history was Shavers vs Holmes. Have no idea how he bounced back up.

Here is some footage the public workout of
Ingemar Johannson doing a 2 round exhibition with Muhammad Ali(195 lbs),
in Miami Beach Convention Hall,February.6. 1961,
when Johansson was preparing to meet Patterson for the third time.
Johansson spared 2 rounds with Ali,and 2 rounds each with 2 other boxers.
Reportedly the crowd in the auditorium cheered Ali and booed Johansson.

There was an article a while back, by one of the referees, who said that Ingo had one of the hardest, if not the hardest right hands in heavyweight history. I think it was Alan Sugar?

Does any footage of his KO over Cooper exist?

Ingo had the classic late 50s early 60s heavyweight build, before they started getting bigger from Ali/Liston onward.

This year marked the 60th anniversary of Ingemar Johansson being disqualified at the 1952 Summer Olympics.
(but also Floyd Patterson winning the gold medal at Middleweight and Lazlo Papp at light-Middleweight Gold)
Here is a list of his bouts leading up to the Gold medal bought.
I guess all this info about the Olympics has been posted within this year at wikipedia.
Because it wasnt available on-line this time a year ago.

IMOP In looking at this film footage from the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki Finland .The ref in this bout was nutzo.
This looked like an action packed fight to me comsidering the size difference between the two.
Did the ref expect Ingemar Johansson to just bore in and attack Sanders and run into an uppercut or somethin'?
