Boxing News - New Editor

Post by Boxerbeetle »

Looks like Matt Christie is the new BN editor. Great news imo, was a bit worried the job would go to a non-boxing person given the advertisement that was posted for it.

Good luck Matt :TU:

I like Matt's quirky sense of humour. In sure the publication will continue to do well.

Good luck to Matt...when he first started writing he was definitely not polished, some of his fight reports were slightly wild with adjectives flying all over the place and he'd overly-labour a point at the expense of giving a full account. But he has matured as a writer/commentator and that enthusiasm is still there so he is the right man for the job.

Matt's not afraid of an opinon either and a weekly mag does need attitude and someone who can find a headline or a hook. So, I am looking foward to the Christie Years.

Seems a top bloke - good on the podcast - and nice to see they promote from within!

pleased to see a boxing man got it, would have been crazy to go otherwise. agree that his writing style has calmed down a lot, seemed he was learning on the job at first but much better now. best of luck to him.

Good decision, for me.

I loved Claude, and really liked Tris, so he's got some big shoes to fill but he already acknowledges that in his debut editorial.

Be good to see where it heads next few months, can't see any drastic sea-change to be honest other than keeping ramping the digital side of things up.

I hoped either Matt or Flexen would get it. Good choice.

Good choice indeed, pleased it's gone to a boxing person.

It was mentioned in Matt's first column but I have been promoted to Publishing Manager, a role that sits between the Publisher and Matt. Like a Director of Football and manager, but you know, without the inevitable ego clash and ultimate implosion. I want to eventually become a publisher and Matt has always wanted to be BN Editor so we're both pretty happy.

I'll be focusing mainly on the commercial side now, but will still write features, interviews and the odd preview. My Kevin Mitchell feature - which, rightly or wrongly, I'm very proud of - will be in this week's issue.

Thank you for the heads-up....as long as you're still turning a line, then I am still buying.

Appreciate that making the brand pay is critical...publishing is a profit-driven business and not a charitable vocation.....so best of luck with that side as well.

Have to say that I am looking forward to Matt shaking it up; when he goes after a subject he does not hold back and that has to be a good thing in a congested marketplace where you can read a great deal of stuff for free.

Good luck to all at BN, still my Friday evening bathtime read , even after 28 years of buying it. I'm bit of a purist , but understand they have had to move forward with some of the features. For me its head and shoulders (no pun) above anything else.
