What next for Frampton?
What next for Frampton?
I've been impatiently waiting on an announcement but nothing thus far! Was having a scan through the rankings at SBW and nothing really jumps out at me besides Rigo and Donaire (obviously Quigg but he's fighting Kiko). Has anyone heard anything or who do you guys think he should fight next? Bite the bullet and go for Rigo or maybe Donaire with one eye on Quigg later in the year first?
Re: What next for Frampton?
A lot of money to turn down. That Quigg fight would've set him up for life. Ol' Barry better now what he's doing.
Re: What next for Frampton?
Was thinking that! I was a bit worried before they announced the ITV deal so I'll keep the faith in him for now.Eddy wrote:A lot of money to turn down. That Quigg fight would've set him up for life. Ol' Barry better now what he's doing.

Re: What next for Frampton?
I'm sure he'll be getting a pretty decent purse no matter who he fights. Obviously less than he would get v quigg but i reckon easily more than quigg gets v kikoEddy wrote:A lot of money to turn down. That Quigg fight would've set him up for life. Ol' Barry better now what he's doing.

A few Irish guys on twitter mentioned a few
Weeks back that they where looking at bringing over Shingo Wake to Belfast but who knows.

Wake is fighting Tawatchai in an eliminator in early June, winner becomes the mandatory I think (least that's what Wake was saying on his blog) so that could be later this year.Manchester Hitman wrote:A few Irish guys on twitter mentioned a few

Kyoei are pretty decent financially (they were responsible for Rigondeaux travelling to Japan) but it seems pretty obvious that Wake would be the one on the road against Frampton.
Re: What next for Frampton?
I imagine Frampton will earn about 50k for his next defence
Re: What next for Frampton?
What is Wake like? He has a pretty ordinary looking record but I've read a couple of good reviews on him and he's on a good run. I don't know if it was yourself who wrote about him?Boxing Prospect wrote:Wake is fighting Tawatchai in an eliminator in early June, winner becomes the mandatory I think (least that's what Wake was saying on his blog) so that could be later this year.Manchester Hitman wrote:A few Irish guys on twitter mentioned a few

Hearn will be right when he said Scott Quiggs next fight will be tougher than Carl Framptons

Re: What next for Frampton?
He's a sharp shooting, counter punching southpaw who hots harder than his record suggests. His ordinary looking record is partly to do with the Japanese way of bringing novices through against other novices, a bit like why Yamanaka has a couple of draws on his record.Stuarty30 wrote:What is Wake like? He seems to have found his power in recent years though I'd suggest watching the fight with Oguni if you're wanting to see what he's like. Fast hands, frustrating movement, rangy guy.
Doubt he'll beat Frampton but he's certainly one of the more qualified contenders (with Ruiz, Pagara and Servania).
I've got to say I actually like a lot of the guys at 122 but the big guys seem happy to talk about each other and then face crud. As a result the names I mentioned (and Vargas) have all but been frozen out. Very frustrating division.
Re: What next for Frampton?
I like the fact that barry and carl turned down the deal, just lets eddie know that him flashing sky's money around cant buy everyone, carl will beat quigg by late stoppage i think. Eddie hearn is ruining british boxing by throwing half decent shows on ppv i wonder how long before sky see he is bad for boxing and pull his deal. Carl is the best in the division and i hope he fights rigo to show this to the world and matchroom. Kiko could beat quigg then were does that leave him never mind wer does this leave frampton.
Re: What next for Frampton?
Very real possibility of Kiko beating Quigg! I don't think it will happen personally but Kiko is a dangerous fight for anyone!thechump wrote:I like the fact that barry and carl turned down the deal, just lets eddie know that him flashing sky's money around cant buy everyone, carl will beat quigg by late stoppage i think. Re: What next for Frampton?
Your honestly telling me you think he turns a straight shot at the title down because he has an eliminator for that title? If I was him or his advisor I'd just call the eliminator off and go straight to the title shot.Boxing Prospect wrote:Wake is fighting Tawatchai in an eliminator in early June, winner becomes the mandatory I think (least that's what Wake was saying on his blog) so that could be later this year.Manchester Hitman wrote:A few Irish guys on twitter mentioned a few

Re: What next for Frampton?
I don't think there was a straight shot offered, I think the guys from Ireland were hearing about the eliminator (which is now about 4 weeks away) but given the notice and the way the upcoming card is built around him (with Amagasa and Takano also featured in notable bouts) I don't imagine him dropping out..jameswilson wrote:Your honestly telling me you think he turns a straight shot at the title down because he has an eliminator for that title? Had Wake actually been offered the fight I think he'd have snapped their hand off. However I'm not sure an offer was really made and it seems more like crossed wires.
Re: What next for Frampton?
I heard rumours that his next defense will be in America. But, I also heard rumours that his last defence would be in London, and that was incorrect.
But, if it is a fairly mute opponent that I wouldnt be suprised to see them avoid ITV this time round and go to America and build on the Santa Cruz fight down the line.

Re: What next for Frampton?
Thats possibly true, but lets be fair how has Hearn the gall to mention tough opponents when talking about Scott Quigg?Naandrew wrote:Hearn will be right when he said Scott Quiggs next fight will be tougher than Carl Framptons
Re: What next for Frampton?
Oh true Quiggs opposition has been shocking. last fight wasn't that bad for him but only because the likes of Jamoye and Diego Silva were gross mismatches.pyenest77 wrote:Thats possibly true, but lets be fair how has Hearn the gall to mention tough opponents when talking about Scott Quigg?Naandrew wrote:Hearn will be right when he said Scott Quiggs next fight will be tougher than Carl Framptons
No way Frampton next opponent will be as good as Kiko.
Re: What next for Frampton?
He'll be getting much more than that.Coco wrote:I imagine Frampton will earn about 50k for his next defence
Re: What next for Frampton?
On the face of it, I'm sure that we can all agree that it will be a defense of his IBF Super Bantamweight title.
And the IBF's top 15 of that division look like this:
1. NOT RATED
2. NOT RATED
3. Mike Tawatchai
4. Jesus Magdaleno
5. Rey Vargas
6. Shingo Wake
7. Alberto Pagara
8. Jonathan Guzman
9. Chris Avalos
10. Genesis Servania
11. Nonito Donaire
12. Paulus Ambunda
13. Horacio Garcia
14. Yukinori Oguni
15. Luis Cusolito
I'm gonna take a moment to look through them (I copy and pasted that from: http://www.fightnews.com/rankings-2)

Re: What next for Frampton?
Yes. That fight is taking place in Tokyo and it is a very winnable fight for him, I'm sure that he will make a few quid and keep the money train going, whilst the Super Bantamweight division clears itself out.jameswilson wrote:Your honestly telling me you think he turns a straight shot at the title down because he has an eliminator for that title?
Why would he take a fight that he would get trounced in? This guy is only beating Asian-level fighters, what makes you think he will leap in against an elite level fighter like Frampton?jameswilson wrote:If I was him or his advisor I'd just call the eliminator off and go straight to the title shot.

Tawatchai (fights Wake in an eliminator)
Vargas (fights next weekend)
Wake (fights Tawatchai in an eliminator)
Pagara (plans to fight in Dubai on an ALA show)
Alvalos (just got whooped by Frampton)
Servania (supposedly getting a WBO eliminator)
Donaire (set to fight in Macao)
Garcia (set to be dropped from rankings following loss to Hasegawa)
Re: What next for Frampton?
From that list, my preference would be Nonito Donaire. Granted, it's the most difficult fight on that list, but in underlines the fact that Carl means business in the division and it proves that he wasn't ducking Quigg (by fighting a better fighter).Crease wrote:1. NOT RATED

Secondly, if that fails - I'd love to see him in against Abner Mares. I know that he's up at Featherweight. But maybe he'd like to drop down a weight class and test himself against another elite fighter?
Third option: Probably Rey Vargas, or failing that - Kid Galahad... At least that would have domestic interest.

Re: What next for Frampton?
In Tuesdays Irish News, there was an article that Team Frampton are lining up Rey Vargas as his next opponent and they've said that Madison Square Garden is their preferred venue.
Re: What next for Frampton?
Would like to see that. I wonder when they are thinking of though? Vargas fights this weekend so may not be ready for another 2/3 months depending on how the fight goes and injuries etc.... It's nearly 3 months since Carl fought so I was kinda expecting an announcement by now. Would love to see Rigo in Belfast outdoors in July/August but I doubt that will happen.Crease wrote:In Tuesdays Irish News, there was an article that Team Frampton are lining up Rey Vargas as his next opponent and they've said that Madison Square Garden is their preferred venue.
