Benavidez v Paez jr and Orozsco v Taylor tonight

Post by kidbazooka1 »

Pretty good fights tonight gotta say top rank has had some decent shows recently with there trutv partnership.

Benavidez did not look good in his last fight but thats cuz he faced Herrera who can make anyone look bad.

I like benavidez though i think the kid has alotta potential and already has a win over one of the craftiest guys in his division.

Not sold on young Jose at all, but tonight should be a relative walk in the park.

Not sold on Jose either. Had troubles with Miranda and I thought he lost the Herrera fight. Still young though but being labeled as a 'prodigy' I thought he would have broken out by now big time.

Paez is no world beater but he has pretty good skill.

No shame in the Herrera fight who has wins over Provo and should have had the W over Garcia.

But i agree now is the time for Benavidez to break through.

Orozco v Taylor was a pretty good srap orozco is a nice infighter when he chooses but gets a lil lazy at times.

Nice win by orozco tho being it was a step up of sorts.

Compared to Herrera, Paez is a sparring session. Easy win for Benavidez but his ceiling is low.

Easy win for Benavidez but a win that has convinced me he's not very good...Paez was bloody terrible.

Ive watched paez over the yr he's limited but tough easy win for Benavidez nice stoppage at the end aswell.

I disagree with you guys i think the sky is the Limit for Benavidez, he has goid good speed nice combos and is huge for the division.

The only knock on him is the staying on the ropes to much but i think he only does it cuz he feels no threat so hes gotta work on that.

The thing is can he use his good speed and good combos effectively when it comes to the higher ranked fighters in his division. It's easier to do that to limited fighters. I know Herrera can make anyone look bad but man Benavidez looked bad in that fight

Benavidez is too big to make 140 forever. And the top guys at 140-147 will close the distance on him and bust him up. Just like Herrera did.

I don't think so I think his speed height and sharp punching will trouble anyone at jrww to ww.

He still a baby and at only 23 still has room to improve.

He will be one of the top guys from 140 to 147 in a couple yrs just waite and see.

23 you are a grown man. The thing here is Benavidez was labelled as a "prodigy" and others said the next "De La Hoya". Don't think Benavidez will be as good as people once thought since he is already having troubles with guys like Miranda and arguably lost to Herrera.

Like I said before, the kid was labelled as a 'prodigy'. Hence why I and many others had or have higher expectations of a guy who was carrying that label.

Definition of prodigy "an amazing or unusual thing, especially one out of the ordinary course of nature"

So far he has shown he is very good but does he exemplify how a prodigy is defined thus far? Don't think so. Having problems with Miranda and arguably losing to Herrera are the reasons I'm skeptical.

I'm not saying he won't be a champion or won't have some sort of success in his career because I do. I think he will win some belts but thus far I am a little underwhelmed to say the least.

Ok i see why we differ in opinion.

Here he wasnt nor has been all that hyped as "a prodigy or the next DLH".

Atleast ive never looked at him that way but now i do see him as one of the future top fighters.

He was compared to Sugar Ray Robinson on his debut. 5 years on and he's not impressing.
