Don't Laugh...GGG will lose tonight...
Re: Don't Laugh...GGG will lose tonight...
I've seen Monroe. He may go some rounds. He has zero chance of winning. Literally zero.
Re: Don't Laugh...GGG will lose tonight...
Be fair. He has 1/80 chance. It is a probability of Golovkin getting injured or DQ'ed.diddy wrote:I've seen Monroe. He may go some rounds. He has zero chance of winning. Literally zero.

Ok I am laughingcaldo2025 wrote:First off, i'm a huge fan of GGG and think that's he's so great for boxing. His talent and power are ridiculous regardless of the lack of skill lining up to sign contracts to fight him.
I knew very little about Willie Monroe Jr when this fight was signed so I watched some fights online to try to get a feel for what kind of fight we'd be getting. After watching this kid, I'm officially worried about this fight for GGG. Willie has fast hands and super movement with endless stamina. I don't think that this fight is going to be crowd pleasing by any means because Willie sometimes sprints in the ring but he's got a style that will give GGG the toughest test to date IMO. Willie is too fast and fancy on his feet to cut off the ring on and with GGG's deficiency defensively, i can see Willie banking some rounds on GGG.
Willie has a 4" reach advantage, 5 years younger and a Southpaw who is very selective with his punches. Add the elusive factor and GGG has got a tough night ahead of him. GGG is my favorite boxer right now but i've got a real bad feeling tonight boys. I think GGG may lose this one. PREDICTION: Willie Monroe JR by split decision.

GGG vs Monroe is arguably even a bigger joke.
Monroe is a much better opponent than Molina. For his weight he's far more skilled and significantly faster, not to mention that he didn't get blown away in the first round in his only fight against a top 35 opponent, stopped in the first by a poor opponent before that, and dropped other times like Molina did. Admittedly Monroe isn't much of a puncher, but GGG's shown an excellent chin and there is no evidence of him ever being dropped or even hurt, so power isn't the way to beat him, but the speed and slickness that Monroe possesses may well be. Molina, on the other hand, doesn't do anything well relative to top 20 fighters and has already been iced twice in the first, making him suitable fodder for a much better opponent with loads of early stoppages.
Re: Don't Laugh...GGG will lose tonight...
Monroe's not a bad opponent, as far as contenders go.
I don't think he'll win, but that doesn't make him a joke.

Which would be the bigger upset Buster Douglas over Tyson or Monroe Jr over Golovkin?

I don't think Monroe will win, but I see several people are predicting an upset tonight:
Why Willie Monroe Jr will upset Gennady Golovkin and change the current landscape of boxing

I doubt Monroe is more than a 42-1 underdog in this fight.hulkmaniac wrote:Which would be the bigger upset Buster Douglas over Tyson or Monroe Jr over Golovkin?

Monroe is 80/1 underdog. Besides, Buster could punch, which Monroe can't.Baby Face Finster wrote:I doubt Monroe is more than a 42-1 underdog in this fight.hulkmaniac wrote:Which would be the bigger upset Buster Douglas over Tyson or Monroe Jr over Golovkin?

Seriously? I would risk $20 on him then. Highly improbable he wins but you never know what can happen in the ring. Like you have stated earlier in this thread, Triple G can get an injury or be DQ'd.ikorolev wrote:Monroe is 80/1 underdog. Calm down Sparky. I ONLY used the term "laugh," because that was the title of the thread. To debate whether Molina or Monroe is a more worthy opponent is splitting hairs. Both have a 5% chance of victory at best. Injuries or perfect punches could happen. GGG is on a higher plane than Wilder, so that should be taken into account. Also, Monroe can't break an egg.crusader wrote:And I laugh at you now.Tony1244 wrote:I laughed. Everyone is dissing Wilder for fighting Molina.

Gennady Golovkin -4000 u5½ +130
Re: Don't Laugh...GGG will lose tonight...
I think Monroe is a better fight at mw than Molina at hw. He has won nine in a row and has beaten some decent fighters.
Re: Don't Laugh...GGG will lose tonight...
I guess it depends on a bookie. There are a few with Monroe 100/1.
Re: Don't Laugh...GGG will lose tonight...
I'd put something on that, were I a betting man. I mean as I said, I don't think he'll win, but that's certainly worth a crapshoot.ikorolev wrote:I guess it depends on a bookie. There are a few with Monroe 100/1.

You've already mentioned Monroe's power to which I noted that GGG has an excellent chin and that power isn't the way to beat him. GGG is on higher level than Wilder but Monroe is also on a higher level than Molina, and unlike the latter Monroe isn't tailor-made for the champion he's facing (see Molina's two first round KO losses and other trips to the canvas--perfect for a big puncher with loads of early stoppages). GGG also fought under 3 months ago while it will be about 5 for Wilder, and when someone is that active I think fighting someone of a lower than desired standard, though Monroe was clearly one of the best available in my view, is more excusable.

I think that's a good assessment.

Lol I can't wait to bump this thread when GGG destroys this guy in 5 rounds.
CRAZYHORSE,GGG,KO,5
I watched Munroe plenty of times and he will pose little problem for GGG

No bookie would ever give odds of 100/1 straight up in a two horse race. If you mean GGG is 1/100 then maybe that's plausible, but he looks to be around the 1/33 mark.ikorolev wrote:I guess it depends on a bookie. There are a few with Monroe 100/1.
The best you can get on Monroe seems to be 22/1
