Re: Undisputed p4p King
I said somewhere that Golovkin would look more like a 10-1 choice rather than the ridiculous 100-1 favorite oddsmakers made him. A 100-1 favorite would have done away with the Worm in the first round.
He's easy to hit and the slick Ward, a much bigger, stronger and more experienced version of Monroe, would have a field day against the over hyped Russian brawler.
Somebody opined that Golovkin isn't beating "tomato cans." No, but maybe cream of mushroom soup.
Let's anoint him as "great," when he actually gets around to beating some great fighters. The Murrays, Geales, Monroes, Stevens, Macklins et. al really don't qualify.
He might outlast an aging Cotto, or top the junior middleweight Canelo (although I doubt it), but let's not seriously consider him as a viable option for Ward, who can sleepwalk against fighters with Golovkin's wide open, wade in style.
If Monroe had a little more punch, and a lot more big name experience, he would have derailed the Golovkin I saw last night. In another 18 months, he very well might.
But by then, it might not mean too much. There are actually some very good fighters out there waiting to get a crack at the Russian, and if his defense remains as porous as it was last night, they'll do a fine job of finally puncturing his bloated myth.

Man you need to be careful around here with that kinda talk because Little Ikey is going to hate you and ridicule you for making sense and that girl (Vicky) is going to call you a racist for going against GGG.SenorPipino wrote:I said somewhere that Golovkin would look more like a 10-1 choice rather than the ridiculous 100-1 favorite oddsmakers made him. Soon the others will start to chime in with insults towards you because you are telling the truth.

Re: Undisputed p4p King
Well everyone (at least that Ikovy fella) knows I hate Russians and only predict Americans as winners in big fights.
That must explain why I'm going with the so-so Povetkin over Perez, and liked Lomachenko to beat the gifted Gary Russell. American guy I think.
Of course some of these chaps only support Russian area fighters, but there's no racism or chauvinism there, is there?
But seriously, can you really be racist when you pick a Mexican (Canelo) and a black man (Ward) over a white Russian?
Scary to recognize that some of these loons live among us.

Re: Undisputed p4p King
.... Out of interest how many times are you going to call a Kazakh a Russian? Not sure if it's deliberate or just ignorant but come on, at least get the guys nationality right.

Re: Undisputed p4p King
Golovkin is half-Russian, and his first language is Russian, so Pipi is sort of correct about that. He also correct stating that we know he hates Russians.
About the essence of what he said: it is ridiculous to think that Gennady would fight Ward of a punching version of Monroe the same way he fought yesterday. He was easily outboxing Monroe in the first two rounds landing a great left hook which Monroe didn't even see due to Gennady's craftiness. The crowd pleasing way of fighting after the second round was his choice, not limitation.
The same way, as Brut and Pipi were wrong predicting Hopkins to school Kovalev, they are wrong predicting anybody to expose Golovkin. As soon as those "greater fighters" will stop hiding and finding reasons to avoid GGG, everybody will see how skilled he is.

Re: Undisputed p4p King
If you have watch Triple G fight, what is very noticeable is how ordinary he becomes if you back him up.
And, even c-level fighters have fought him toe to toe and won exchanges.
Given that backing people up and staying right in their chest is EXACTLY how Andre Ward fights, how can any sane person think GGG can beat him?
Sorry, but the Froch and Kessler that Ward beat easily in the Super Six were bigger punchers than what Gennady is now.
It will be a slaughter if Sanchez ever agrees to sacrifice his star pupil.
That is why I think they are avoiding really good fighters.
They know they are only going to have one or two shots at the really big money before GGG is exposed.

Still half Korean and no one is calling him a Korean. He appears to be a very proud Kazakh so he should be referred to by his nationality.ikorolev wrote:Golovkin is half-Russian, and his first language is Russian, so Pipi is sort of correct about that. No, they weren't. More importantly, they didn't have Gennady's skills.koolkc107 wrote: Sorry, but the Froch and Kessler that Ward beat easily in the Super Six were bigger punchers than what Gennady is now.

Yeah, they were. As skilled and more powerful.ikorolev wrote:No, they weren't. More importantly, they didn't have Gennady's skills.koolkc107 wrote: Sorry, but the Froch and Kessler that Ward beat easily in the Super Six were bigger punchers than what Gennady is now.
Golovkin will be an easy fight for Ward.
Re: Undisputed p4p King
Froch is as skilled as Gennady ??? Give me a break. If Ward ever makes 168, and his and Gennady's promoters find enough money, we shall see.koolkc107 wrote:Yeah, they were. Froch is highly underrated skillwise.ikorolev wrote:Froch is as skilled as Gennady ??? Give me a break. If Ward ever makes 168, and his and Gennady's promoters find enough money, we shall see.koolkc107 wrote:

The adaptations and versatility he has is too.
Note the differences in the Bute and Kessler fight, undressing both guys two different ways.
Don't know if Gannady could do the same against opponents of that caliber.

Re: Undisputed p4p King
I was very impressed with him once again. He does need that big name opponent to raise his status more, but he is very skilled, accurate, and powerful. Best I've seen for cutting off the ring. Great chin but should not take some of the shots he seems to allow.
He is good, but those that think he will destroy Ward are dreaming a little. Good fight, but would pick ward by sd. Too smart.

C'mon ppl GGG should be no where near #1 on the p4p rankings.
I like the guy but unless your a newbie to the sport there is no excuse for someone to have him in the top 5.

Ward is packing glass.
OK, That might be a bit harsh, but he's not got that top-level granite chin the greats need. Marquez, Mayweather, Pacquiao, Froch, Mosley, Vitali Klitchko, Kessler, Ali, Holyfield.... When you box at the top level it's simple, you're going to eat shots from top level world champions. Ward, Canelo & Wladimir are KO's waiting to happen if they come up against a good enough opponent.
I think Golovkin has the boxing skill to hang with Ward, my only concern would be foul play, clinching & headbutting favouring Ward in a 12-round bout. The power is the deciding factor though, Golovkin is too good not to land his best shots.
Golovkin inside 7.

For the record; Andre Ward will school GGG.

Re: Undisputed p4p King
You should just take a look at who you're addressing and then you'll realize just why it sounds so stupid, he acts as if GGG is beating P4Pers or HW Champions.fergusg wrote:I’m not for one second suggesting that GGG doesn’t stand a chance at beating Andre Ward.ikorolev wrote:Ward will quit.
That being said, I cannot for the life of me ever perceive a situation whereby the S.O.G. is forced to quit by Golovkin.
I could be wrong, but wasn’t Ward 12 years old the last time he tasted defeat, whilst amassing an amateur record of 114-5? Hasn’t he also easily overcome the challenges posed by former world champions, such as Mikkel Kessler, Sakio Bika, Arthur Abraham, Carl Froch and Chad Dawson?
Has Gennady Golovkin really defeated that many opponents as a professional that were as good as the likes of Edwin Rodriguez or Edison Miranda?
I could be wrong, but GGG has only defeated one opponent that was legitimately ranked within the top-five of the 160lb weight class. The Aussie was also one of only two former world champions that Golovkin has defeated, with both opponents being far past their prime (i.e. Geale lost his belts to the lightly regarded Darren Barker, whilst Kassim Ouma, who was the former IBF 154lb champ, had subsequently tasted defeat six times since he held his title prior to facing Gennady).
I believe that Gennady Golovkin, one of my favourite fighters, has an excellent chance to defeat Andre Ward, but to make him quit? That just sounds preposterous to me!
I think the d*cksucking of GGG is going to far based on a win over a nobody with 6 KOs, I've never seen anything so ridiculous since the early days of Mike Tyson knocking out a string of bums and old hasbeens.
Re: Undisputed p4p King
P4Pers led by Floyd are running scared from the "damn giant" Golovkin.
Re: Undisputed p4p King
I don't think he'd ''school'' him, in that I don't think it would be easy and one sided.cocka09 wrote:For the record; Andre Ward will school GGG.
But I do think he'd win. As always though I have to add the disclaimer, if he is the same fighter upon his return.
Re: Undisputed p4p King
Now you should also add "if he can still comfortably make 168".Bobbyptsd wrote:I don't think he'd ''school'' him, in that I don't think it would be easy and one sided.cocka09 wrote:For the record; Andre Ward will school GGG.

Re: Undisputed p4p King
Does that include the dreaded Japanese guy Ishida, he of 9 losses and a paltry equal amount of KOs in 35 bouts?
This GG is awfully lucky he toils in a middleweight division that is devoid of any notable talent .Can you imagine the beatings that this defensively deficient "ATG" Russian would suffer at the hands of the Monzons, Haglers, Hopkins, Benvenutis, Hearns, Griffiths, and Valdes?
Of course I could be wrong. After all, esteemed trainer Abel Sanchez assures us that Golovkin is the third greatest middleweight in history. Must be smoking the same stuff that Chavez Jr. does.
