Your favourite fighter

Post by Ian1973 »

There's been enough of who is the best, but who is your favourite fighter out there right now?

Mine is Kovalev. I love the fact that he just looks so ruthless like some stereotypical Russian Mafia hardman - yet the can really box also. It's never gonna be dull with Kovalev.

It was Maidana for the longest time. But, after seeing Roman the other night, he's on top of my list. I also really like Nicholas Walters.

I'll cheat and pick 2. Wilder and Tyson Fury. Both undefeated HWs with Big Mouths. One or both may be a bit better than we think or they'll get knocked on their ass and humbled. Either way, it's interesting entertainment.

Gonzales looked brilliant the other night.

Do you think Liam would beat Liam Smith?

My must see fighter is either Golovkin or Lemieux.

And yes, Marqquez spectacular 1 punch KO is imo alongside Ali KO Foreman as the greatest result/moment in the history of boxing.

My favorite fighter for his character both in and out of the ring is Joe Louis, he did so much and died poor, broke and destitute.

The man served his country honorably as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army and while he was in he donated his boxing purses to Soldier's and Sailor's Home/Navy Relief.

A true example of how a fighter should be both in and out of the ring.

If there's one guy I really want to watch, I guess I'd say Lomachenko. Especially interested as he goes forward what will happen against the other top guys.

All time, Toney.

My must see fighter is either Golovkin or Lemieux.
Both Liam's would be a great fight,Smith has been more impressive each passing fight but the competition has been less than stellar but he's putting away durable guys and I actually thought he didn't have power when he started out,I just thought he was a strong, sturdy Martin Murray type but he's developing into a vicious puncher especially downstairs ,initally I thought he was the least talented brother who was there to make up the numbers but he's as good as Paul and Stephen, maybe better who knows yet?

He looks so tough and strong, I can't envisage him being KO'd,he looks immovable

Williams needs a couple more fights I reckon just to get the rounds in,he's Commonwealth champ now so there's opportunities to go the championship distance but in a years time I think it would be a superb fight

I'm on the fence at the moment

I'd love to see both of them go at it i think it could be made at 154, since ortiz was gonna fight canelo there

When it is all said and done, sensible boxing historians are going to conclude that Marquez was better than Pac, although Juan will not be rated as high achievement-wise

Maidana and pacman have been my faves for a few years, just love their no fear fighting style.

I've had Alvarez and Kovalev on the back burner as my faves for a while and I'm partial to a bit of amir khan for great entertainment.

I'm as big a Marquez fan as you'll find, (Ali aside) my all time favourite fighter. But he's not as good as Pacquiao in a historical sense. He got the better of Pacquaio for the reason why i'm such a fan, because he's a badass with an unbelievable chin and ferocious counter-puncher. Pacquaio's style lent itself to greater achievements however, winning 8 world titles. Marquez simply didn't have the extraordinary speed & athleticism to achieve the size discrepancy like Pacquaio did. He never would have had the ability to get in & out like Pacquaio did when he put beat downs in much bigger men like Cotto & Margarito. Marquez never could have outboxed them, he would have had to went to war with them to have a chance.
