I brought up your name because you used mine in another thread and I hadn't said a damn word to you, you constantly follow me from post to post hurling insults and acting like a teenager.

I'm glad you finally admitted that you are BUTTHURT and I understand that but please get over it and don't do something stupid like those other 2 guys I posted.

Honestly though when I watched what the overwhelming majority of fighters had to say about the who they said won this fight not one of them hinted that this bout was anywhere near close.
I finally figured out what bothered me most. It was how every single member of that broadcast team (HBO-SHO ), ALL of them had the SAME EXACT opinion/agenda of the fight and the reason why the fight was horrible. They just look at the bogus punch stats and Letterman and Farehoods cards and that the way they are going. Everything is shaped around that and that's their opinion on who won the fight and how great Floyd is. The only thing more disrespectful than Max's interview with Manny in the ring was that weasel's, Malignaggi's verbal lashing at Manny during sign off. Professionally calling him a "joke". The fact pillow hands can call himself a World Champ is a miracle and that's coming from a fellow Paisan that absolutely loves how Paully calls a fight. Paulie clearly let his Snookie out that night.

I've seen several fights recently in which these crews have been up and arms about judges final decisions being audacious and horrible only because they spent 12 rounds agreeing with each other shaping their opinion instead of checking the action objectively. They all do this. Teddy Atlas almost had a heart attack a few months ago and he was dead wrong about the decision and it was perfectly judged.

With so many legends in the booth having a say that night, they did a horrible job building any kind of excitement. To them, it was over after round 1. The announcers killed this fight, not Manny or Floyd. From the beginning, it was over to them. THIS FIGHT WAS A LOT CLOSER THAN ALL OF THEM CALLED IT THAT NIGHT AND THAT'S WHAT IS WRONG TO ME. THEY CALLED IT LIKE THERE WERE FOUR 10-8 ROUNDS. THERE WERE A GOOD PERCENTAGE OF ROUNDS WHERE A WINNER COULD HAVE GONE EITHER WAY. The people watching live at MGM loved it way more than the rest of us who were stuck listening to one sided commentary the whole night. Lampley, Bernstein, Jr. Harold, Steve, Paulie, Jame Brown...blame these idiots. A great announcer can make you watch a turtle race like your life depended on it. They failed in the biggest fight in history, not Manny.

That's all for me. My last post on this, I promise. I just wish Floyd didn't fire Larry Merchant because we all know he would have called it how he saw it.

Brilliant post, I agree with almost all of this. The fight wasn't as bad or as one-sided as some are making out - it was never going to live up to the hype anyway.

Outstanding post. It also highlights what a great loss Manny Steward was to the sport. Malignaggi is a gutter rat. Pacquiao should have sued him, he's came out publicly many times stating that no question Pac was doping because no way can a guy carry that power through the weight divisions. I guess it's tough for Paulie to comprehend because he never had anything resembling power in any weight class. He should be nowhere near a Pac fight given his prejudice.

No, they were watching the fight and for once in their broadcast lifetime they got it right and without bias. Just because you don't agree with them doesn't mean that they weren't watching the fight. Besides Holyfield and Mosley I couldn't find two other fighters who agreed that Manny came anywhere close to winning that fight.

There was nothing disrespectful about Max's interview, he asked questions and he disagreed with Packy delusional about winning (where's the disrespect in that)?

You claim that you are over your BUTTHURTEDNESS yet you're the only person left arguing about something you cannot change and very few people agree with you.

The real huge disagreement with you that I have besides the scores is the fact that Manny Pacquiao is an HBO fighter, why would they be biased towards Manny when he is their house fighter??

Nothing you've stated makes any sense whatsoever, Manny failed in the biggest fight in history because he got shutdown and didn't do anything different the entire fight except allow Floyd to move wherever he wanted in the ring without cutting it off and making him exchange and his defense was leaky as hell as he continually ate jab after jab, check hook after check hook and right hand after right hand.

I'm not sure why you cannot see what every professional boxer, sportswriter/commentator and even millions of other Manny Pacquiao fans saw, and that's him losing this fight regardless of how they feel about him.

You really need to seek some sort of psychological counseling or something because you are hanging on to this and taking it much too personal.

Manny lost, it's time to really move on and stop posting the same crap over and over again because it won't change the results.

I watched the fight for the second time last night. First time I thought Floyd won prob 114-112 and actually it was pretty convincing. Upon watching it again and looking at it closely, so many of floyd's punches which sounded like they landed hit Manny's gloves.

I think Floyd won but it was very close and all depends on how people score fights. Manny was slightly disappointing and he could have won if he'd thrown more caution to the wind.

Folks need to let it go and stop grasping at anything and everything that comes close to suggesting the fight was close.

It wasn't.

Everybody knows it wasn't.

I will tell you what this fight looked like.

A Pac vs JMM fight...without any of Pac's blows in it.

I can't NOT reply back to some of these great posts, right? Thanks for putting this list together because it does give a condensed survey of opinions from respectful resources (save Skip Bayless, he doesn't help my cause). For the last time, my butt was badly bruised NOT because I thought Manny was robbed and deserved the win, he didn't. My problem is how HBO & SHO performed that night. They had a fight that was close enough, in my opinion, to work with and to mold it into an entertaining. These "PRO'S" never had a plan B even though most said that it wouldn't live up to the hype. There's nothing worse than watching a sporting event that you are personally enjoying, while the analysts go out of their way to ruin it for you because when we are watching these PPV events, these personalities, as much as we hate to admit, shape out opinions in ways and are just as responsible for a bad fight than the 2 boxers in the ring.

The scores listed above prove my point, KBB. In most knowledgable fight fans minds, 116-112 is a close fight. If just TWO rounds go the other way, we are looking at a draw (114-114). I know, if IF'S and BUT's, were peanuts and nuts, we'd all have a plentiful Christmas (Dad's old saying, not mine). Hate if and buts, truth is though:

13 out of the 21 scores listed above had it scored as a close fight (116-112 or closer). 62% of those opinions, so highly regarded that they are recorded in print, so they must mean something. 62% of them felt that the winner of this fight came down to 2 rounds or less. THAT MEANS THE AVERAGE OPINION OF THE EXPERTS IS THAT IT WAS A CLOSE FIGHT.

HBO AND SHOWTIME, these two guys gave you enough to work with and you blew it. Maybe it was the confusion and tension caused by the mixing of the networks but they just blew the biggest fight in history. I think that they felt that because the fight didn't need any promotion that they also didn't need to add to the telecast as the fight would sell itself. No. Wrong. This fight gave this crew enough clay to mold into tension, excitement and entertainment.

A couple of weeks later, the same HBO frauds are kissing Willie Monroe Jr's ass for quitting in the ring. Before that, they gloriously hold up the effort of James Kirkland for not making it to the 4th round. These two guys got more credit for their performances than Manny did and one quit in the 6th round and the other couldn't make it to 4th.

But they found a way to make those to loser fights exiting didn't they when in actuality, both fights were HORRIBLE.

Officially done now. Sorry.

\

8 rounds to 4.That is what you are calling close?????
These fights are scored per round. As if each round was its own fight.Floyd won at least 8 rounds convincingly.Manny won 2 rounds convincingly and 2 are being argued with by fans and experts alike.
Sometimes 116-112 is close on a fight.Sometimes it is not.

This was one time 116-112 was not close.Sorry but it was not a close fight.
And I am a fan of both as fighters.I can not say Manny was anywhere close to winning.

Sorry.

Ok, while I agree wholeheartedly that HBO hardly ever does a good job of commentating and it's mostly due to their bias for their HBO house fighters, you have to admit though that if they were going to be against anyone that they should've been against Floyd Mayweather.

Why you ask? Floyd left their network, cursed out Merchant and beat their #1 boy (Manny Pacquioa), so why should or would they call a fight in favor of a guy who left them and immediately their network PPV numbers fell??

You really need to work hard to convince everyone on this forum that HBO of all the networks and people there would call the fight in a bias favor for Floyd Mayweather.

I'd love to hear this one, we're waiting..................................................................................................................................................................................................................

You are a fan of both fighters but, clearly, not a fan of math.

tiny_anus, guess what happens if just 2 rounds get scored the other way in your "8 rounds to 4", not even close, scnenerio? Follow me, now. Take your time, it's ok, we'll wait. 6 rounds to 6. See, you have to move that other number up if you take numbers away from the first one. Like if i had one apple, right? and....

I understand basic math. But obviously you do not understand how this fight was not close. The 8 rounds that were won were convincing. Pac won two rounds convincingly. Only 2 rounds were close.
the scores of 116-112 might appear close. But the fight was not close.
sorry to disillusion you but it was a clear win for Floyd.

and for the record making a comment about my tiny anus might be a way for you to express your blatant homosexual desires. But it makes me feel uncomfortable. It's alright if you are gay but please leave me out of your fantasies. Thanks

I'd love to hear this one, we're
KBB, are you a car salesman or something? You will not let me leave the showroom, lol. Toying with me like a toy on a string, but ok.

I actually love HBO's commentators. I love Bernstein too but Lampley is my favorite and I do prefer the HBO platform for fights and have for years (though its getting tighter with SHO).

This is what i'm trying to understand. Max and Lampley have RIPPED Floyd since his departure. Some of the segments on The Fight Game were the definition of "butthurt" and uncomfortable to watch. They OBVIOUSLY never thought that the fight would be signed, then boom. It's signed. Now Lampley, the most visible and anti-Floyd personality, has to go into Floyd's house, under Floyd's rules and he better not put his feet on the couch or spill some milk. It was like he was scared to call that fight because the way Floyd was throwing people's credentials in the toilet that night and what he did to Merchant's career years earlier, I really think Lampley bit the pillow on 5/2. Manny's meant a lot to HBO and no credit to any of the effort he gave that night. Heck, Lampley was even pushing SHOWTIME shows by accident during the live telecast.

So why did the announcers take a deuce on this fight killing it for the viewers? If the majority of experts thought the fight was close, why didn't one person step up to try to make it entertaining. There was some suspense wasted and i feel that i've proven that this fight was not a blowout by simple math. How great would this fight have been if Lampley was asking Al why Floyd was running so much and Al asking him why can't Manny hit Floyd? There was a valid argument for either fighter in most of those rounds, i don't care what anyone says.

116-112 average and most people gave Floyd the 12th round. A round he clearly didn't want to win, just running all around with his hands up while Manny chased him.

Done now. I'm doing some yard work or something constructive instead of letting you work me up again about this KBB. You're like an evil genius. I'm done now. Until next time...

I agree, the fight was not close, Manny had two clear rounds that he won, there were a couple close where not a great deal happened in either direction, and the others I thought Floyd won clearly.

I had it 10 rounds to 2 for Floyd. 118-110

Simmer down bro. Don't you have a Klan meeting to get ready for? I think your hood needs some bleach from the bonfire last month.

I can see we are dealing with one of those Southern folks with the rebel flag tattoo, leaning back on his sofa with is finger in his belly button trying to read these posts.

Don't be uncomfortable about gay people bro, or black, asian, lesbian...it's 2015 bro. You can sit anywhere on the bus these days. Equality dude.

 There's a stronger case for Pacquiao 10-2 than finding 10 rounds for Floyd in that horrible showing.

Here's an interesting and little known point;

Scoring blows are defined as:
"he or she must hit the target area of their opponent with the knuckles of a closed glove, and with reasonable force. Non-scoring blows include punches that infringe the rules, punches that use any part of the glove except the knuckles, and those which do not have the weight of the body or shoulder behind them."

In order for a shot to score it must have "reasonable force" and have the weight of the body or shoulder behind them.

The punch stats have already been proven to favour Pacquiao in the majority of rounds. I guess it's subjective, but, you could probably remove a large % of Floyd's shots which don't meet the criteria of "reasonable force", he's so defensive he actually leans back while extending his shots out which just 'touch', therefore negating the weight behind the shot. In terms of actual significant shots Floyd landed, I wonder if you could count more than 4.

Well, the judges clearly believed that the punches constituted 'reasonable force.'

Define 'significant'

Given the fact just about every single well respected boxing commentator, pundit, judge, scored the bout clearly for Mayweather, and quite a few had the same score as me, it would appear you are one of a very few - mainly those who can't deal with Pacquaio losing - who believes those shots didn't land with reasonable force.

Don't try and cite the rules, everyone is aware of the rules. It's not a 'little known' point, it's a point that every boxing judge and pundit is well and truly aware of.

I don't know why I'm even bothering - nothing is ever going to allow you to accept that Pacquaio lost fair and square, and that 99% of knowledgeable observers felt this to be true.

I guess you can keep on trying to twist and turn - but it won't change reality.
