He is not right, there is no bigger financial fight for him atm, certainly not since the bum was stopped. Plus he and Eddie are adamant Froch is not interested in money. He claims money is not his motivation and then he says he wont fight Golovkin because he is not ppv in USA. He is disgracing himself, retire already.
Rematches with Ward or Kessler, and a fantasy matchup with BHop all do better at the box office than a fight with GGG.

I am not saying the fight with GGG doesn't do well- it does very well.

But, I think the 3 above do even better.

And since Carl has just a few fights left, I don't blame him for prioritizing by order of financial magnitude.

You are free to if you like.

+1

Froch says DeGale is not motivating him even if he beats Andre Dirrell (who Froch arguably lost to) and gets a belt, even though fighting an IBF champion DeGale would certainly be huge in England.

So, fergus is right (for a change), Carl's main motivation now is the sport, not the money. Ward will almost certainly beat Froch again, so Carl doesn't really want that kind of "achievement". I think that similar thoughts make him and Hearn hide from the GGG matchup. My conclusion: Froch doesn't need money, and he doesn't like his chances in the two biggest challenges he could take. So, he will retire.

How? None of those guys sell more tickets or views then Golovkin. Kessler yes in Denmark. Neither in the USA or in the UK those guys sell more views the Golovkin. Plus Golovkin unlike Ward will fight him even in Nottingham. Also I repeat if you are motivated with at best marginal monetary gain then dont go out of your way saying money is not a motivation.

It's about the money too.

He wants the rematches (Ward, Dirrell, Kessler) and he wants to try GGG.

But, none of the fights happen if the terms are not right.

He’s got to want to fight, he’s got to be motivated to want to do it.

“If he’s motivated, he wants to fight somebody and beat somebody, and get the rewards that he deserves for all the work that he’s done, not a problem.”

Proska was southpaw but didn't seem to do as well as Monroe and Ouma. Maybe southpaws are a chink in GGG armour.
Always new GGG defense a little shaky, got good chin and his offense seems to be his best defense, hell of an offense for sure, I think this Monroe fight will actually help GGG down the line as it kinda battle hardens him with the challenge that Monroe gave and he won't be caught by surprise of a serious challenge further on in his career.

Semi valid. GGG is an offensive guy who welcomes exchanges. Anyone with this style can be hit.

I just think he tried too hard to impress vs. a very quick opponent, who had more will power and resolve to stay in the fight, and a pretty good chin to take it.

GGG can box well at mid range if needed.

I saw how freely Monroe hit him at times.

I think that it was pretty clear that GGG was taking a few of those shots from Monroe Jr on purpose. I think that once he tasted a few of them GGG knew that they lacked pop so he opened up and at times seem to be willing Monroe to make a fight out of it to make an exciting fight for the fans.

He's clearly making an effort to not clear out his opponents early to give the fans their money's worth. If he gets this fight with Froch, there's no way he's going to let the Cobra take clear shots at him like that.

Isn't it sad that Boxing can't even get this kid a competitive fight? The fighters have too much say in this area of the sport and that's what the problem is. It would be so great if boxing could dictate a fight that neither boxer felt comfortable with? It seems like fights are only made now when one boxer can establish a clear advantage and reason for taking the fight. This is where the UFC has it over on Boxing but that's it, IMO. Boxing is way better product overall imo.

Spot on with your assessment Caldo. I can't disagree with a single thing.
